Strange monitor issue

Dear technical pros of the TDM forum,

I have a new monitor since last christmas, but since a few weeks I noticed a strange issue which I don't know why I noticed it not before (if it was already even there). When the screen is moving (by scrolling Google Pictures or by moving in a game) there appears some kind of "refresh line" horizontally on any random position of the screen. Its flickering and never stays completely at its position.

I don't know how to describe it so I hope THIS VIDEO can show. From the compression you can barely see the line and you need to watch it full screen, but I hope you can tell.

Its really hard to point out from the video and even harder to describe... It's like the screen is only refreshing until a certain point on the monitor and after this point the rest is rendered a little later so it seems to have a horizontal cut that is moving around with every FPS. As I said this does not only appear in games, but also when I scroll down / up. I checked with my second monitor which only has 1024px instead of 1920px and there the lines do not appear. My monitor with the error is an ASUS PB248Q 61,2cm (24,1") which I use together with my old Yakumo TFT via DVI cable on my AMD Radeon R9 200 Series graphics card.

Do you have any idea how the problem can be called or even better: what could cause this problem! Because it really sucks and annoys me :(

Yes it is activated in the game. But still this would not apply on scrolling in Firefox, would it?

EDIT:

F*** I just started the game on my small TFT monitor and I saw there is the same issue, just a bit slighter... So it must either be the GPU or something with the motherboard maybe or the energy?

No it isnt the monitor since the other one has the same issues. I have the newest drivers - I will try to install an older graphics driver. But Vsinc does only apply in 3d applications, doesn't it? So why do I always have this issue even in Windows?

Hm there is no Vsynch option in my catalist suite but I found out something new: When I boot my PC everything works, but as soon as I switch to a Windows basic theme (deactivating Aero Design) the streams occur. When I switch Aero ON again, the streams are gone. It's like in the link from you, Stifu - Aero helps preventing the tearing. So when I run a game with high ressource demand, Windows asks me if it should switch off Aero and if it does, the streams / tearing appears everywhere, EVEN if Vsynch is ON ingame! So somehow the AMD driver doesn't seem to do any Vsynch. So the not-so-perfect-solution would be to never switch Aero off, I guess.

Now, that's still kinda weird. I get that vsync might happen in windows when aero is turned off, because direct x is not running then. But it IS running ingame, so there, it should not happen. Anyway, glad you found a solution.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
