Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. But the seals held strong, and the few did triumph, and the doubters were lain into the foundations of the new sanctum. -- Collected letters of the Smith-in-Exile, Civitas Approved

Darn, last year I thought we could make it over Thief 2 FMs amount, but I guess it is the quality that counts in the end, not the quantity :)

Sad to see the shrinking of FM releases overall though...

If you exclude the first year for TDM there is on average 14 releases a year.

I sort of felt 2015 was quiet too however the quality was definitely there with what was released. I think if we want to see Thief like numbers we will need to do more contests and actually have people stick to the cut off date, the Halloween one saw 50% of the releases for last year so it does help.

If TDM is able to hover around 10-15 a year that would be fantastic in my eyes.

I just hope this year we see some more new mappers as the regular authors will usually put out one or two a year which is great but new mappers usually bring some fresh perspective and can bring some great maps of course.

Here's to a great 2016!!!

As someone with only a passing interest in helping with his voice and testing at most, this is rather disturbing.

These numbers, though what little they show being diamonds in the rough, are much too small for my comfort.

I like to record difficult stealth games, and right now you wonderful people are the only ones delivering on that front.

Click here for the crappy channel where that happens.

I think TDM is getting better and better with each passing year. The Missions are definitely getting much better, the mission creators are doing a damn good job and it's clearly reflected in quality. The attention to detail, the gameplay, the aesthetics. bar is getting high.

Just think about what missions were released this year: Sir Talbot's Collateral, Penny Dreadful 2, A House of Locked Secrets, Crucible of Omens: Prologue, and a ton of interesting missions for Halloween. I'd say we're doing pretty well.

You can call me Phi, Numbers, Digits, Ratio, 16, 1618, or whatever really, as long as it's not Phil.

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
