How to use FM localization Packs?

There are a handful of Fan Missions out there, which dispose of localization packs (_l10n.pk). I've got tdm's language set to German and tried to run a few FMs (Too Late, Let Sleeping Thieves Lie) with their German localization - in vain.

First I followed my intuition and simply extracted the _l10n.pk files to the corresponding mission's subfolder, but it didn't change a thing - Objectives, Object Names, In-Game-Texts were still in English.

Then I put the german.lang file directly in the fan missions folder, but no - everything is still in English.

Unfortunately http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Installing_and_Running_Fan_Missions doesn't tell you how use localization packs... Does anybody have an idea how those packages are supposed to work? Where am I supposed to put those lang.files? Do I need to tell tdm manually which language to use for each FM?

The localization packs only work if you run the mission pk4 through a converter and get a resultant conversion where readables (etc) are changed to

str#XXXXX values.

If you put the localization pack into the FM directory or inside the mission pack without this step then the translation won't be recognized.

I believe Tels housed a collection of translated missions but some of them were done before the 1.08 to 2.0 standalone process and the fixed versions weren't

re-translated. Anyone can run the script and make the default English translation package. The trick is getting the old xxxx.lang file to sync with the new conversion

or redoing the translations for the new 2.0 compliant missions. A lot of work. I believe that the folks at Darkfate.org have been doing much of this for Russian missions

so they may at least have translation ready missions (if they followed our translation process rather than simply updating the readables directly).

you can download a russian translation of 'too late' and switch the language in main menu to german (most of translations are compatible with the current localization packs, but some have overridden textures and guis)

sorry for my perfect runglish

That sounds way easier than the way nbohr1more suggested. Where can I download them? (http://darkfate.org/view/details/files/projects/darkmod/fm doesn't seem to have it...)

I've updated the articles for your FMs and your author category at the wiki. Your newer nickname (DeTeEff) now comes first, and the one in parentheses is your older nickname (Fieldmedic). Just to avoid confusing people who played your FMs years ago and remember your older nickname. I've added a wiki article for your latest FM, Who Watches the Watcher?, as part of my current updating efforts. Unless I overlooked something, you have five different FMs so far.

I've finally managed to log in to The Dark Mod Wiki. I'm back in the saddle and before the holidays start in full, I'll be adding a few new FM articles and doing other updates. Written in Stone is already done.

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
