I'm late to the party, I know... but I've been told I sound a bit like Garrett so I figured I'd offer my voice and see if anyone thinks it would be useful to them.

Attached is a (somewhat rough) take with a couple lines from the series. [1]

If you think I could be useful, let me know.  If not, feel free to disregard.  Thanks for producing such a kick-ass game/mod.

Gear:

Shure C03U, pop filter

Sound-dampened recording room

Software: Very poor.  Not really my scene.

[1] I blew the inflection on the "ly" of "probably".  Sorry.  Obviously if I were doing this for real I'd do another take.  This is just a quick demo...

You chose your friends well for your voice is almost identical.

"I really perceive that vanity about which most men merely prate — the vanity of the human or temporal life. I live continually in a reverie of the future. I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active — not more happy — nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. The result will never vary — and to suppose that it will, is to suppose that the foregone man has lived in vain — that the foregone time is but the rudiment of the future — that the myriads who have perished have not been upon equal footing with ourselves — nor are we with our posterity. I cannot agree to lose sight of man the individual, in man the mass."...

For sound software, I use Audition, but I get adobe suite and it plugs to everything I need:
http://www.adobe.com...s/audition.html

Free software: http://www.audacityteam.org/ <--- is probably the best you will get, imo.

Just remembered, adobe cooledit pro is now called audition - cooledit pro is now free: http://cool-edit-pro.../free-download/

Really good quality imho! I hope you get many PMs - if not you can always feel free to give your voice to an open voice concept (which can be found in the Wiki?). Would be nice to hear you ingame! :)

Thanks. I'd love to help voice some things, but I'm not sure I'm looking at the right pages in the wiki. The only thing I see that looks like a script is this one: http://wiki.thedarkm...t:_Average_Jack Am I missing something?

That's the script for one voice. It gives you a sense of what's needed, though it wouldn't be good to use those exact words.

Here's a better place to see what's required when contributing a voice set. There are a few hurdles to jump wrt to sound quality and delivery. Each set has over 300 sounds in it, so it's quite a daunting task.

If you get requests from authors to provide voices for their missions, then it's between you and them what gets said and what the result sounds like.
