Hi, using Debian 8 ("jessie") — current stable release — system setup to all defaults, and a GeForce GTX 660 card using NVIDIA Driver Version 340.96. Using kernel version 3.16.0-4-amd64 and the CPU is an Intel Core i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz. Here is the output:

----- R_InitOpenGL -----
Setup X display connection
dlopen(libGL.so.1)
dlopen(libGL.so.1)
idRenderSystem::Shutdown()
signal caught: Segmentation fault
si_code 1
Was in fatal error shutdown: Unable to initialize OpenGL
Trying to exit gracefully..
About to exit with code 0

Tdm is a 32 bit app and needs 32 bit packages to run on a 64 bit os.

Please follow my howto:

Please let me know if it works and if you have some improvement suggestions.

I didn't have those three packages installed because:

~/darkmod$ ldd thedarkmod.x86
    linux-gate.so.1 (0xf774a000)
    libpthread.so.0 => /lib/i386-linux-gnu/i686/cmov/libpthread.so.0 (0xf7711000)
    libdl.so.2 => /lib/i386-linux-gnu/i686/cmov/libdl.so.2 (0xf770c000)
    librt.so.1 => /lib/i386-linux-gnu/i686/cmov/librt.so.1 (0xf7702000)
    libX11.so.6 => /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libX11.so.6 (0xf75b0000)
    libXext.so.6 => /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libXext.so.6 (0xf759b000)
    libXxf86vm.so.1 => /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libXxf86vm.so.1 (0xf7594000)
    libstdc++.so.6 => /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6 (0xf74a2000)
    libm.so.6 => /lib/i386-linux-gnu/i686/cmov/libm.so.6 (0xf745b000)
    libgcc_s.so.1 => /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1 (0xf743e000)
    libc.so.6 => /lib/i386-linux-gnu/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 (0xf7291000)
    /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xf774d000)
    libxcb.so.1 => /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libxcb.so.1 (0xf726b000)
    libXau.so.6 => /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libXau.so.6 (0xf7267000)
    libXdmcp.so.6 => /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libXdmcp.so.6 (0xf7260000)

But it makes sense that I would need to install them. After doing so, I still get the same exact error message:

----- R_InitOpenGL -----
Setup X display connection
dlopen(libGL.so.1)
dlopen(libGL.so.1)
idRenderSystem::Shutdown()
signal caught: Segmentation fault
si_code 1
Was in fatal error shutdown: Unable to initialize OpenGL
Trying to exit gracefully..
About to exit with code 0

Hello. Had the same problem with Ubuntu 19 and OOTB AMD drivers.

Solved it with installing the latest drivers from PPA (not from AMD site - so far it has drivers for Ubuntu 18 only and it did not install well, had to remove them with amdgpu-uninstall).

The correct way to install latest AMD drivers from PPA:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:oibaf/graphics-drivers
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt upgrade

Thanks.

The topicstarter needed some video driver packages.
These things are noted also in:
https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Installer_and_Manual_Installation#Installing_TDM_on_Linux_-_Installing_other_packages

(but i dont know why i didnt refer to the videodriver in my first posts in this topic)

      Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

      Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

      Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
