I downloaded the the mission The Illusionist's Tower and since the locks seem to take longer to open. Has anyone nad this issue?

The lock picking time is set by the FM author, so this is not necessarily an issue. Some authors have decided to add an extremely long lock picking time to doors that can normally be unlocked via a key.

the information on time for a lockpick isn't very helpful in darkradiant, as its "This goes alongside 'lock_picktype' and defines how many samples each pin has (minimum is 5)." does this mean you are supposed to set it to 5 as a minimum or is the lowest default setting you are allowed to set it at 5 and 6 is 5 + 1, but then it might be 5 + 6. well that was the confusion when making the map.
5 is the default value. so easy numbers are 0, 1, 2
harder numbers as in long picklock times are 3, 4, 5.
most of the locks are set to 3 per lockpick
although there are couple of 5's as the setting was that the place was known as an instant death zone, so the local authority got the strongest locks possible to keep people out of the place.
