Texture Pack 3 Preview

It's coming along. Still got some issues here and there, and I haven't found all the textures I want to include in the next pack yet, but it's getting there.

 

This is a shot from the map I'm working on, figured I've gotten it to the point where I have something interesting to show off. Imagine it with little colored jars and various other knick-knacks sitting on those shelves, electric lights hanging from the ceiling, wispy cobwebs draped from the ceiling to the walls, and...uh...a floor, and you'll see where I wanna go with it.

 

But without further ado...The Basement

Alright, the 2nd basement shot has been cleaned up, fullscreened, shot from a nice angle, and logoed for all our posting needs. Just click on the link above to view the new one.

 

Edit: If we could, we should photoshop DeepO's thief model in there.

Already up on the website....I don't think the model will be ready for a while yet though.

Just out of curiosity, how did you manage to make those red areas without them repeating in a regular pattern? Is it just a very big texture or can you overlay one texture with another?

They repeat, you can tell by looking at the ceiling on fullbright, but I have enough details along the wall obscuring the texture so that it appears random.

 

It's a regular sized walltex, 512x512

If you look carefully you can see a few of my mistakes..but I figured that it was small enough that you wouldn't notice ingame (I hope).

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

      Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
