Doom Editor Q

For some reason I just can't find the answer to this anywhere:

In Buzz's Doom 3 VTMs their editor has grid units displayed in the viewport (-128, -64, 0, +64, etc). What is the trick to turning them on? The VTMs themselves don't seem to mention it, and I can find no references online.

And while we are at it, I also would like to know how to enable 3 axis view of a map. I always have the view for a single axis.

Do you mean have more than one orthogonal viewport visible at once (ie. a top, a side, and a front viewport at the same time)? If this is what you mean, you turn them on and off in View > Toggle > choose appropriate one. Note that a window may appear behind your other windows, so drag them out the way to see if it is hiding. You'll have to resize them to make them all fit, I'm not sure if you can pick an automatic layout somewhere.

P.S. anyone know about those units yet?

Hmmm. I haven't seen that. Somebody told me there has to be an option set or something in the CFG or console or something like that.

This should be on automatically. Maybe you have the grid spacing too high? try turning it down in grid->size or whatever.

Unless i don't understand what you meant.

No, I've adjusted the grid spacing while mapping, so I don't think that's it (I've had it pretty low). I'll try downloading the latest SDK and Doom 3 patch tomorrow, maybe I'm just running on an older version.

<edit> ended up downloading tonight, but no change. I'll try reinstalling D3 next if it's something that should have appeared by default.

Ok I've noticed the numbers appear very briefly during startup. Here's a shot during editor startup (the '-320' etc cross the top):

Here's what I get once the editor has loaded:

I'm thinking perhaps I have an option set wrong or something, but I'm not sure where it is. Here's the command line I'm using to load the editor:

"C:\Program Files\Doom 3\doom3.exe" +set r_fullscreen 0 +com_allowConsole 1 +editor +vid_restart

I've updated the articles for your FMs and your author category at the wiki. Your newer nickname (DeTeEff) now comes first, and the one in parentheses is your older nickname (Fieldmedic). Just to avoid confusing people who played your FMs years ago and remember your older nickname. I've added a wiki article for your latest FM, Who Watches the Watcher?, as part of my current updating efforts. Unless I overlooked something, you have five different FMs so far.

I've finally managed to log in to The Dark Mod Wiki. I'm back in the saddle and before the holidays start in full, I'll be adding a few new FM articles and doing other updates. Written in Stone is already done.

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
