Paypal Is Quite Strange

The paypal guys must be really weird. They locked my account some months ago, because I am 0.44 eurocents in debt to them. Yes. That's about .56 cents USD. :) The funny thing is that they have my account data, so they could already have withdrawn that big money from my account. Instead they rather send me 100 nagmails to "clean up" my account and locked it after some time. Really. As if I owe them such a big amount of money. I simply refused to clear the balance because I don't really feel like making a transaction for 0.44 cent. Next time I want to pay something I can always add this huge amount to the bill and everything would be fine, but no, they have to lock my account for this. That's really plain ridicoulous.

LOL!!! :D:D:D Consider yourself lucky! VERY LUCKY!

I have heard a similar story that a guy had got a loan of some ten thousands euros and after paying the dept he had left 0.2 cents left.

He of course had thought he had payed the dept but the bank kept sending him notes about not having payed the dept and after a few months bank agents came at him and took his house! Problem was he had no money to pay (no currency exists with 0.2 value). After one month troubling with bureocrasy he finally got his home back but until then dont know where they had been sleeping... lol

Weird, evil, take your pick...

They locked my account for "getting the password wrong", though I'm quite sure I had it correct. Thankfully I only had a few US cents in there, because I'd heard the horror stories before and made sure never to keep any money in the account.

My games | Public Service Announcement: TDM is not set in the Thief universe. The city in which it takes place is not the City from Thief. The player character is not called Garrett. Any person who contradicts these facts will be subjected to disapproving stares.

I wouldn't exactly say they are in the wrong here, we just live in a qualitative society (aka the computer age); if you're over, you're over. Quantitative reason would find a different solution, but considering that programmers aren't exactly installing software like that anytime soon, I wouldn't exactly place the blame on the company. I've never had any trouble with paypal.

What he meant is that they are formally right. If I'm in debt even 0.01 Euro, then they are legally entitled to do whatever a company does in such a case, and with the help of computers this is more likel to happen now then, at times when no computers were around.

I don't see how they could repossess your house for a debt of 0.01 anyway, surely you could just give them some small change from your pocket when they turn up? A house is worth far more than that, and I don't see how they could take arbitrarily valuable goods to repay a trivial debt.

I read those links about how the big paypal monster stopped people from organising their own fundrasing efforts for Katrina. Actually they were pretty justified in doing this. If you want to make a donation, just donate to the nearest reputable charity, like Red Cross. Just why would you donate to some random dude who says "Hey I'm starting a charity!", how do you know he's not taking it for himself? It's happened before. Paypal were just protecting against this.

That's exactly how to get rich, you just have to develop something that benefits a million people more than a dollar's worth, so that to them it will be a good deal to give you the dollar to get that benefit, and you get rich in the process!

(note - much easier said than done...)

Fan with paypal can really be when u owe some 0.1 cents and after having you bombarded with mails, start replying:

"Come and take them you Mother F@(#&R$"

"Sorry this is Suzy's mail. Kisses"

"I shall pay with value. Does a dead's lobster moustache does it?"

"Boo! Scared Ya? Hihihi..."

"Ma, someone is busting by B@||$"

"Lol, soz brb to $$ u after next round! PS: Dust Plz"

"Hey you letter looks familiar! Do I know you?"

"I am 2 meter blonde hot model! What are u doing tonight?"

and eventually trying resend all the other spam mails about enlarging your "stuff".

Offer them sales and bonuses too! I think they will appreciate it!

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
