  3. I reckon if there's a high likelihood you'll be put in a strict 14-day quarantine should you test positive, or if you know sooner or later a double digit % of people in your area are infected and you therefore wouldn't want to go go outside at all for anything (including shopping), then you wouldn't want to find yourself without enough toilet paper to last however long you're staying home.

  4. In my town (Lüneburg) it wasn't so bad, when I went shopping yesterday. But they only admitted a total of 60 people into the store at any given time. A good procedure, as I think. Toilet paper was sold out, anyway. I still cannot understand, why people are stockpiling this at home ; if SARS-CoV-2 caused diarreah, I would at least understand it a bit, but like this? Apart from that, most shelves were still full. Pasta was only filled half, but you could still get some, if you wanted to. I myself try to stay reasonable. I have a bit more supplies than usual in my apartment, but I trust that the supply will not break down, so I don't start to buy stuff without any sense.

  5. I wanted to share my store story today... I am from germany. I wanted to buy groceries, i needed toilette paper, washing stuff and Tresor cornflakes. I was met with rampaged shelves, empty shelves or just half cleared shelves. The cornflakes shelf was completly devastated, packages with "Prize Competetions" Ripped open and just thrown back in, almost all of them. The milk Shelf, empty, Meat, Eggs empty... The freezer Products left in chaos... It was insane O.o People are literally buying everything in huge amounts now. The impact phase has started.

  6. @Dragofer It's the big sphere, but I put them in a different layer, so it's kinda solved already : ) Never noticed that show/hide speaker volume button btw.

  7. What about "The Plague of the Crown" because The Emperor was the first one to contract it whilst on a diplomatic trip, and it spread rapidly throughout Civitas?

  9. Here is the list of cvars which I guess should not be archived: And there are the only cvars which should remain archivable in my opinion (a lot of them are dead): idCVar cv_tdm_crouch_toggle( "tdm_toggle_crouch", "1", CVAR_GAME | CVAR_ARCHIVE | CVAR_BOOL, "Set to 1 to make crouching toggleable." ); // nbohr1more: #558 Toggle Creep idCVar cv_tdm_creep_toggle( "tdm_toggle_creep", "0", CVAR_GAME | CVAR_BOOL, "Set to 1 to make creep toggleable." ); idCVar cv_pm_lean_toggle( "pm_lean_toggle", "0", CVAR_GAME | CVAR_ARCHIVE | CVAR_BOOL, "Set to 1 to make leaning toggleable." ); idCVar cv_frob_fadetime( "tdm_frob_fadetime", "100", CVAR_GAME | CVAR_ARCHIVE | CVAR_INTEGER, "Time it takes for frob highlight effect to fade in and out." ); idCVar cv_frob_weapon_selects_weapon( "tdm_frob_weapon_selects_weapon", "0", CVAR_GAME | CVAR_BOOL, "Set to 1 to have weapons automatically selected when the respective item is picked up." ); idCVar cv_frob_debug_hud( "tdm_frob_debug_hud", "0", CVAR_GAME | CVAR_BOOL, "Set to 1 to show some frobbing info." ); idCVar cv_frob_debug_bounds( "tdm_frob_debug_bounds", "0", CVAR_GAME | CVAR_BOOL, "Set to 1 to see a visualization of the bounds that are used to check for frobable items within them." );

  10. "Plague Contest" sounds like a good name to me, because it fits the quasi-historical period. "Corona" is a Latin word meaning "crown", but would not have been associated with disease in medieval times since viruses had yet to be discovered or named by the scientific community.

  11. Then we may as well call it (back to original) Corona Competition 2020... Let TTLG's anniversary play out this month. I mean, it's Thief after all !! My half Century birthday is in 9 Days & EVERY restaurant, nightclub, bar, Arena in the whole F'n World is closed I wonder if I could have a private party? Up to 10 people right? So yeah, I'm thinking let's build some fun FM's during the coming gloom...

  12. Just had the last ordinary lecture in my university. No idea how would students study from now on: I'm afraid distance learning does not suit everyone. In one orchestra that I play in, all rehersals are already stopped. I guess the others will follow in the nearest future. On the bright side, it seems I have more free time for programming and TDM now UPDATE: On the second thought, I think it is a perfect time to replay the first Deus Ex now

  13. IMO Unreal Editor even the one from Unreal 1 is massively more complicated than DR has the interface is concerned this is, DR is very simplistic in this regard. Doing a simple, two room with a door in DR imo is easy, if you take one hour to look at a start to finish Tutorial, on to make a simple map for TDM, you will learn the basics in a day, the rest you just ask the community or browse the forum, some people most have asked already, what you want to know. For those coming from the old Unreal Editors, you just need to learn that in DR you put stuff into a void instead of carving stuff from a solid. Afaik the modern Unreal 4 editor got rid of the "carve from a solid" idea and also uses the void system now, at least that was what I heard, because most of the geometry used on it, is imported from external tools. About a "lite" DR, IMO makes no sense, why? Because to me DR is "lite" already?! Compared to the likes of Unity, Cryengine editor or Unreal 4 editor is very very basic (not that i'm complaining). For example you don't make scripts or edit scripts from inside DR, like you do on the previous mentioned ones, you don't make materials inside DR, in DR aside from brush based geometry, you just import stuff into it, put lights in the scene, texture surfaces with the pre made materials, import pre made models/entities in, make particle effects, link stuff, put triggers around to trigger events and such. I don't really know how you would make DR more "noob friendly", unless you make it more focused on TDM and way more complicated by making it able to do everything inside DR. Don't know if this is a good tutorial or not but browsing youtube saw this one, teaches how to make a simple room in DR.

  17. Im a bit on off these days, (retired) but from time to time i do still code a bit. The tools are all there but the documentation for them lacks a bit, you might have better luck getting help from unityhq since they still work on lithtech stuff. A few of the tools required obscure compilers like borland C++ 6.0 which no longer works if you use win10 so i took the liberty of rebuilding those with the latest embarcadero compiler after fixing incompatibilities they dont get built by default anyway. Not familiar with HPL1 ? but if looking for another engine to sink your teeth into then serious sam engine was opensourced to. -> https://github.com/Croteam-official/Serious-Engine This is the first iteration of it so its a bit dated but it looked ok even for its time and the community has been hard at it adding bumpmapping and fixing other stuff.

  18. Well i was right in regards to not being able to use this engine as an update for NOLF2. The help file even states that it has had some changes that require recompiling the game assets (which we dont have) only a few test worlds and most of the shaders models etc. Its good if you want to build a game from scratch though, so ill upload it to git when im done with it. Then people wanting to use it can just fork it.

  19. Old but still not to bad F.E.A.R used the next iteration of jupiter -> "ex" with some work this jupiter could probably eclipse that since it now has access to the latest dx9. The unfortunate thing for me is while i can probably get the engine upto speed, i sorely lack the skills to create the needed assets (shaders etc.) so im stuck in that regard. Ill probably update the sources to use cmake though. Might also remove the old dmusic crap and replace it with openal. Atleast bink is no longer needed since this version of jupiter uses dshow for the videos, it can still be enabled but would need to be ported to ffmpeg.

  20. Indeed got it mixed up. i done some work on the source and it now builds with the latest dx9sdk. unfortunatly the needed compiler (MSVC .NET 2003) is to old to work with this so i had to do some hacks to get around the lack of sal.h and rpcsal.h (provided dummy ones). next on list would be updating to a more recent compiler but i fear this might not be the most easy task since a lot changed in msvc over the years.
