  1. Any group willing to use violence and terror to promote their beliefs should be called out by all reasonable people.

  2. To get a positive spin on this discussion, what about the following little story: Due to Covid, I am working from home and because of that, I just got to experience how my son (turning 1 year on monday) took his first steps, and now he is walking around the flat as if he had never done anything else! It's such a normal thing to happen, but I still feel so incredibly proud right now!!

  3. Two wrongs don't make a right. Everyone involved in the terror attacks in France or elsewhere can go straight to hell. And all the people who were and are cheering them on, fuck them. If any Uighurs were cheering them on, fuck them, too. That does not justify in any way what China is doing to the Uighurs. China isn't doing this because they fear terror attacks by the Uighurs, and even if they were, putting an entire collective of people under a general suspicion and punishing them is not acceptable and a gross violation of due process and the human rights we should hold high. @KurshokI don't know why you found it important to inform us of your political affiliations, as if that should excuse or justify your stance? But it really doesn't cast a great light on you when you are condemning the barbaric acts of Islamic terrorism and in the same post sympathize with barbaric acts of a different kind. If you want to maintain a moral high ground, you need to do better.

  4. So far, I stayed out of this discussion, as I simply don't like discussing and especially critisizing other peoples beliefs. But now, I am starting to think that our TDM-forums are not the place to discuss such matters, as the discussion has become quite extreme. So, I would like to personally make clear that all muslims (and also all people of all other beliefs) are welcome here! Do not let yourselves be fooled into thinking that you are not wanted here, just based on the posts of one or two persons in these forums! The only exception to my statement are obviously extremists, who do not accept the beliefs of others.

  5. And nice one stifu yeah the small things in life are sometimes forgotten so it is cool when we notice things like that.

  6. Obviously, I agree, but I feel this thread (at least in parts) goes beyond that.

  7. I recently learned that it was 4 quicktests rather than PCR-tests. Those tests only react to very strong viral load, i.e., when you're very infectious, and are therefore not so accurate, whereas the PCR-tests also find the slightest indication of the virus. Elon Musk really is to blame for concealing that information in his tweet. As we can see here, it sows distrust in science in a time where we desperately need MORE trust in science. As an engineer himself, Musk should really know better. Source (in German): https://www.derstandard.at/story/2000121680757/elon-musk-gleichzeitig-positiv-und-negativ-auf-covid-19-getestet

  8. Ok, I can accept opinions and if you don't like the #metoo or #blm movements, this is up to you, but calling a global pandemic, that has caused 1.3 million (reported) deaths in less than a year and appears to have severe long-lasting effects that cannot be foreseeable, yet, "better coughs and sneezes" is simply ignorant. And not forgetting hospitals and intensive care units reaching the limits of their capacities. Apparently, you yourself have been spared so far and I am glad for you that you have, but this disease is not a "first world problem" that people make up, because they have no other problems. It is a global problem that affects each and every country. Downplaying it like you did is almost as bad as protesting against the restrictions that may have already saved millions of lives and will futher do, if people adhere to them. But you are not far behind...

  9. The comment wasn't directed at you, and it certainly shouldn't be seen as endorsing the general tone of Kurshok's posts. I don't personally support either childish name-calling or overly emotional rants, even if the target deserves valid criticism.

  11. bad or not it is an unknown which could potentially become something far worse, that is why there is so much talk about it. Viruses mutate a lot who can say if the next iteration will not be deadlier ? the answer atm is noone can.

  12. The thing with corona is that the PCR test isn't done the same in every country and sometimes not even by different authorities in the same country. Anything more than 30 amplification cycles just leads to a higher rate of false positives. In The Netherlands they use about 40 in some places and 25 in others and some scientists have said that the rate of false positives is as high as 30%. People getting infected again is most of the time a false positive as well, because the PCR test sees remains of the virus as positive as well even though those people aren't infected any more. Not saying corona is a hoax, it's just not as bad as they want us to believe.

  13. I don't really think it needed to be called out because just like we have to see that islam extremists don't represent the islam, they have to see that the opinions of a few don't represent the whole community. I personally think religions in general are one of the biggest problems in the world. I remember this one time when a christian lady next to me on the bus got very angry when I said other religions, for her there was just the one religion. There are so many pointers that religions are man-made, such as the if you don't do this list this awful thing will happen to you. Doesn't mean I don't believe in some sort of higher power (even the big bang had to start from something), just not like in the religions. I respect though that some people need religions and believe in them.

  14. I don't know where you pulled those numbers from, but they are not even close to true. Influenza deaths in Germany typically range in the thousands to ten thousands, with approximately 25,000 reported for the particularly nasty season of 2017/2018, see e.g. https://de.statista.com/statistik/daten/studie/405363/umfrage/influenza-assoziierte-uebersterblichkeit-exzess-mortalitaet-in-deutschland/ 600,000 deaths per year would be almost 1% of Germany's population...

  16. Not to mention that "you have the power to change yourself" is a privileged self-made-man type of bullshit. Everyone coping with depression or any mental illness, anyone who was born into war, slavery, poverty, abusive parents or any unfavorable conditions really, would extend a friendly "fuck you" in response to such crap. And that's like 90% of the world population. And "making deal out of everything" is nothing but cultural evolution of manners. Otherwise, all of us would still sit quietly and not make a deal out of prima nocte.

  17. Asus rampage iv extreme, with a core i7 3930K and 32 gig kingston black edition ddr3 ram, crucial MX500 SSD and several mechanical seagate HDD (storage space in excess of 8 TB). The board and CPU are pretty old but still able to handle anything i can throw at it, sadly 3 fan headers have become broken over time but else everything works 100%. GFX card is an sapphire R9 390 with 8 gb ram, while not able to handle 4k with any reasonable fps i normally game at 1080 resolutions and at that resolution this old geezer still eats any game i can throw at it. I havent upgraded anything for several years now, but im pondering going for the 6800 XT when it comes out.

  18. Also rage mode though im a bit ambivalent on that one since normally the cpu does not handle gfx calls to well. Originally i would have gone with the RX 5700 xt to replace my aging R9 390 but if the prices on the 6800 hold i would probably go with one of those. My screen cant do 4K anyway xD so its no big loss.

  19. I find this incredibly vulgar. Whatever your views may be, there's no excuse to deliver them with such obscenity. I understand we have lax forum rules that permitted Kurshok to start this thread on equally inflammatory premises, as we rarely come into situations where we need such rules, but at this point any civil space on the web should draw the line.
