  1. The problem is the same as it's always been; the hardcore stealth market is niche and small. There's not enough sales for a AAA budget. If I won the lottery (50-60 Million) I would bankroll such a game, even if only I ever got to play it lol.

As I leave my crimbo vacation and return to my work duties I can feel that my time may be severely cut for mapping, so I may as well have you guys take a look at what I've been working on (you know, per the thread title and everything): I really wanna finish this one but RL is a bit volatile atm! Fates be kind!!!

  3. But who can we really trust to make such a game these days XD Arkane has been shining very much and square enix is now fully into microtransactions and multiplayer... Let it stay dead before you put it to shame even more...

I've done my first maps on an office laptop that got no better than 20fps, and mapping can be quite straightforward with no prior knowledge needed (unless ofc you want to add fantastical creatures that don't exist yet). Lots of great step by step video tutorials out there, like Springheel's. Where there's a will there's a way.

  6. @LDAsh Thanks for posting that additional mesh. Turns out most of the work with preparing the statue is already done, so finishing this up was in reach. I've also done some optimisations to bring the asset more in line with existing statue assets in terms of texture size and tri counts. So I've done the following for this package: downsized the texture files, bringing the compressed weight down from 12mb to 3.7mb while still looking good ingame imo (1k diffuse, 1k normal, 512 specular, 256 editor image), considering that FMs with many custom assets typically range between 100mb and 300mb. I've also attached a version with the original all-2k texture files. since the 12k and 6k stages looked quite similar ingame, I've decided to set the 6k stage as the highest-detail stage rounded out the LOD stages and added shadowmeshes to them: 6k mesh + 1.8k shadowmesh 4k mesh + 0.9k shadowmesh 2k mesh + 0.4k shadowmesh 2 smaller versions of the huge base model, the middle size is the default. All 3 sizes have LOD entities. Google Drive - statue_eve_v2.pk4 Google Drive - statue_eve_v2_hires.pk4 It's also been added to the core assets and can be included in 2.09. Given that I have observed that some of you have Google accounts to save Screenschots and various images, I have thought of reporting this change in Google's policy, which from From June 1 of this year it no longer allows the uploading of images for free, when the total of 15 Gb in the general services of the account is exceeded (Gdrive, Gmail and others).The best alternatives would then be the Onedrive account, which still has a limit of 1 Terabyte, or ImgBox or Imgur, both free without storing limits and also provide better links to share. https://gsmarena.com/google_photos_will_stop_offering_free_image_uploads_on_june_1_2021-news-46242.php https://imgbox.com/ (ImgBoxen is in my opinion the best alternative, although it only supports uploads from the PC, but admits Bulk uploads and give forumlinks for Bulk Share) https://imgur.com/ (It also supports uploads from the network, but is more limited in the maximum size of the files)

Anyone is welcome to use it. There are 3 LODs - 13K, 6K and 2K, with the 2K version also for the shadow-casting. For the size, roughly 12ft, I guess it's about right.   10. Kind of weird to ask for restaurant recommendations on an international forum... So, I'd say Bissmark 92, it's a small premium burger restaurant in Herne, Germany, which only serves local bio beef. This way, you don't have that much of an invironmental bad conscience, when you eat that beefy burger! You should try it, it's only about 7000 km from where you live. Practically next door! ;-D

  11. I first learnt about Neil Manke and Black Widow Games around 2 years ago but after i played the They Hunger trilogy i started to look into what Black Widow Games Was and if Neil is still out there. I don't have any information on him but i would also like to find out if he's still out there.

  13. I'm definitely a fan of imgur and have had no issues with it for basic image sharing. I especially like the fact it's easy to create links to images and you don't need to mess around with accounts or anything if you don't want to. Having said that, if an image is important to you, don't have it only available on a cloud/hosted service. Keep a local copy just in case.   16. Well I was looking forward to Vampire Bloodlines 2, but there's been so many developmental stumbles so far that I have my doubts it'll have even a fraction of the quality of the original.
