  1. EDIT: Ignore the FPS counter, I'm using 8xAA for the screenshots. For the past year or so I've been working on increasing the quality of the carpet textures. Some of them are really REALLY low res. There's some that are actually 128px X 256px. They look really bad in game, but back then, we took what we could get. So using various tools including AI upscaling and hand crafting parts of the textures in photoshop, I think I'm at a point that I'm getting close to a good workflow. These won't be replacements for the current textures, but will be sat alongside the low res ones. They have been used in almost every mission in different ways, sometimes in non conventional ways, and I don't want to break the aesthetics of the current missions. They will show up as _HD in DarkRadiant's texture browser. Here's what I have so far. (Click on the images to see their fullsize) Here are some side by sides: Here's the images on imgur https://imgur.com/a/2G0f5ZF https://imgur.com/a/2G0f5ZF

  2. This actually came up in a earlier discussion about Greebo's new favourites browser. Since the favourites browser can contain things other than textures (although I don't know if this is active in the released builds) there is an open question about how things like models could actually be inserted from the favourites list rather than the right-click menu. I actually like the idea of drag-and-drop asset insertion, although it would probably require some fiddly coding under the hood since DR's selection system is somewhat complicated. Even better would be if models could be shown on a 2D grid with preview thumbnails, rather than a tree with only a single preview at a time, but I have no idea if wxWidgets even offers support for a widget like this (or if it would have to be implemented from scratch as an OpenGL scene). That ought to be possible, certainly. Provided the wxWidgets style options that Greebo mentioned work correctly, there is no reason why this couldn't be initialised from the config file rather than hard-coded or default values.

  3. Thank you for all the effort you all put into DR! We were discussing on the discord how much time we spend in the different content browsers and how to potentially speed up locating and placing of assets. We were wondering if it would be possible to expand the media browser to be a one stop shop so to speak by expanding it to include models/entities/prefabs etc. Perhaps with togglable content filters that allow you further narrow it back down. Additionally the existing "textures" tab is really useful for locating commonly used textures in a project and it seems like this could also be useful for commonly used models or the other assets types as well. This would probably require something like drag and drop placement of assets from the browsers since you wouldn't be accessing the browser from the "create model" prompt for example, but something like drag and drop could also significantly speed up the process of adding things into the scene. Thanks again for the time and consideration!

  4. I definitely wouldn't vote for a custom implementation of the notebook control, but there are a couple of other options: Only use icons for the tabs, at all times. This would require very clear and obvious icons (which work in both light and dark themes), and still might be less useable for new users who don't know what each icon means. A hack whereby we dynamically set the style to show or hide text, based on the current overall size of the dialog. This wouldn't be ideal because we'd have to basically guess the size threshold for hiding the text, and this might not be the same on all platforms with various different fonts.

  5. In the TDM it can be only a vertical contest, with Garret startin from above, when you like to finish it without pressin nothing . But this will be a very short mission. LOL Most similar mission is Swing.

  7. I just read The Dark ones reviews of my (old/only) missions and man, honest words they are! (No, I don't roam the forums as much as I should ) My stomach hurts everytime I think about my earliest works and I was surprised that even if the majority of the points were negative he could actually find some things that he liked, haha. Believe it or not, I've not quit mapping. My motivations sway between mapping and painting miniatures and skydiving, three things that eat up time from when I don't work at the ICU ... I have no ETA for the upcoming mission but I have made good progress the last days with my girlfriend helping with the readables and other stuff... It's so frustrating to relearn everything; objectives and folder structures and so on, takes so much time when you haven't mapped for some time...
