  1. More bragging! This is the entry hall to the mansion. I'm pretty pleased with how it's turned out so far. Even on my potato computer and with multiple light sources the frame rate is still acceptable. Now I've just got to build the second storey and then I can populate the level with people, and get the objectives done. With luck I might have something beta testable in a month or so. Maybe I'll get that 2021 release done after all!

  2. We have too many new frob shader threads. I count 2 public and 2 internal.

  3. Fixed in rev 16360 The strange particle sprite used in the training mission collides with the flame material. Fortunately the material used here is not used in other scenarios that are fixed by sort last. That said, someday we need to make the heat haze in torch flames work better with water or glass materials ( known limitation ).

  4. Not really, but W10 by default loads a lot of apps and services which you don't need, but use a lot of RAM (hibernation, file index the worst). But yes, in very old sistems it's better to use Linux. Q4OS is a good choice for Windows user, with an UI very similar to W7 and it has a own installer, so you don't need to make an CD/Pendrive with an ISO, You can download the setup and run it like any other app and select if you use only the Distro or in dualboot with Windows.

  5. I think this is the right place. The other discussions should probably be moved here.

  6. Well this seems to be the one to actually discuss the frob shader. The other one is ostensibly about menu options related to frobbing and I didn’t want to add a bunch of clutter to the dev release thread. Is there somewhere else you’d recommend I post this?

  7. Why a mistake? W10 is a lot better than W7 in every aspect, faster, more secure and more estable. There also a lot of apps with which you can tweak Windows to your needs and change it to a SO which respect and protect your privacy. For example from MS itself https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys and https://modzero.github.io/fix-windows-privacy/ You can create GodMode to access all the possible settings in W10, you only need to create a folder and name it GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} Another advantage of W10 apart from switch to Dark mode Windows 10 brings by default the Windows Subsystem for Linux, a subsystem that, thanks to the Hyper-V hypervisor, allows us to run any distro, directly on the operating system. Include you'll find several distros in the MS Store.

  8. Status can't get more epic than that

  9. Both systems do not control OpenGL in any way, then only give "primary framebuffer" and control final image compositing. OpenGL rendering should work equally well on both systems. Maybe some specifics around compositing can add one excessive framebuffer copy in one of the cases, but it won't change much (except on integrated GPU maybe, which is too bad to play TDM comfortably).

  10. I think I can show off a little bit. One of the hallways in the mansion I'm working on. The panel textures at the bottom of the walls need to be aligned and there's still another door to go in, but this has been looking awful in DarkRadiant for so long that I'm feeling pretty pleased at how it's turning out. This level is (tentatively) called "A House Call", and is about breaking into the mansion of a famous but corrupt physician in search of the recipe to an antidote he's hoarding and selling for exorbitant prices.

  11. A great time to switch to Linux. Just play games that work with Linux or Valve/Steam's Proton. Which should be many more of them in the near future if Valve is serious about the Steam Deck.

  12. @OrbWeaver I am always very careful with information on the network and I do not accept anything that I cannot verify by other means. Certainly there were occasional floods in Germany in the past, especially in the Rhine basin, but never in history have generalized floods in almost all of Germany like that of the past Juni, never since this has been realized in history, the same in Belgium with a similar catastrophe. Here in the south, the beaches are filled with dead fish by the ton, due to climate change due to the warming of the sea and coastal agriculture with its chemical fertilizers that cause an excess of algae and the reduction of oxygen in the sea. This I do not have to consult in the media, I have this here next to the house.
