  1. Goldwell is known for quality content and this mission is no exception. I always find his maps to be visually stunning and polished, with plenty of little detail and visual storytelling. By that I mean there is something to find in every corner and it's not necessarily loot; little things and touches that tell stories of their own, not related to the overall plot but fleshing out the map and its inhabitants nevertheless. The background story about the fake jewels and the two guys plotting each other's demise was great. Starting with one hell of an intro sequence and playing a lady thief this time around, we set off to rob a noble. Goldwell being Goldwell, the mission offers much more content than the main goal, with secrets to discover, side missions to complete, and shops to plunder. Observant players who like to collect everything that can be stolen will have their work cut out for them. I was impressed by the custom voice acting and the effort that likely went into creating the first female thief protagonist in TDM. I don't necessarily have a preference over what sort of thief I play, as it rarely makes any difference from gameplay perspective, but it always rubs me the right way when the protagonist is fleshed out. My only criticism - if you can call it that - is that some gasps of the protag are a tad too loud, which I noticed when swimming around in the first area.

  2. I'm listening to this while I'm opening up this thread, so I guess I may as well as post it here. It's nostalgia incarnate.

  3. Thought I'd share what I've been working on lately. While my mapping days are behind me, TDM still is still an inspiration for many of the fantasy illustrations I do in my free time. Here's a few that should look somewhat familiar:

  5. No offence, but why don't you simply post all your questions in the Newbie thread ? I dare saying that you won't make friends here if you repeatedly point out the shortcomings of the mod when - according to your own account - you do not even plan to finish a mission. This is then extremely bad project management and anyone who is seriously interested in creating DM missions must think about appropriate backups and versions. You can read here what longtime contributor Orbweaver has to say on that topic. His tone might be a bit too harsh, but he's basically right. Don't get me wrong, I admire how you've been digging into this for the past few weeks, but you're overshooting the mark a bit here. It might also be a good idea if you took a few days off. I have the impression that you're already going in the direction of burnout. You should prevent this if you really want to provide an interesting mission we all can enjoy.

  6. stone_movement_end is defined in tdm_sfx_sliding.sndshd: stone_movement_end { minDistance 1 maxDistance 25 volume 1 unclamped shakes 0.2 sound/sfx/movement/sliding/stone_movement_end.wav } Note the "shakes" variable. One possible way to avoid the shaking is to define your own version of that sound without shaking. Create or edit a .sndshd file in your FM (in the /sound folder) and add something like this: stone_movement_end_no_shake { minDistance 1 maxDistance 25 volume 1 unclamped sound/sfx/movement/sliding/stone_movement_end.wav } Then just reference stone_movement_end_no_shake in your mission

  7. ASE exporter now supports FullName as well. Note that I have combined the two export scripts into a single tdm_export.py which supports both formats. This allows common code to be shared without copy-pasting. If you have an existing version of the ASE or LWO single-format scripts, you will probably want to uninstall this before installing tdm_export in order to avoid conflicts.

  8. No that is just based on Unreal Engine (4 or 5): I already said it, just don't make it official Thief, that raises expectations too high. Also, it's probably better of with indie devs.

  9. Maybe. It worked for the Tomb Raider Dagger of Xian game (even though I'm not sure how much of the IP it can really use...). But... wouldn't "Thief Deadlier Shadow" be a bit unoriginal? Frankly, The Dark Mod is as good and close as it gets for me.
