  2. Either of the two settings works. Which should I prefer? Won't try the new shader now, but can do later on if it would be helpful.

  4. You want the property panel completely closed? I think that might be one of the things that are not possible with the new layout, I have to add support for that.

  5. Greebo was probably in the middle of changing how the interface works. It's best to download the artifact builds that are attached in Github every time a bugtracker issue is resolved.

  6. If you're asking if I have the ability to make GUIs then yes, you can literally draw them using Qt creator/designer. If you're asking if I'm going to do it for the purposes of this project, probably not right now as I've got barely enough time to play TDM as it is. I just don't think that website development translates well to desktop development. But you are right, these days you'll certainly find more people in general able to do UI development using web-based technologies, so in terms of the availability of people it most definitely has an advantage over traditional native apps. BTW, that joke about rewriting using Rust is because it's basically a meme in the programming community to rewrite old codebases in Rust because it's more secure or something like that. Plus it has a lot of fanboys. Just wanted to address the confusion.

  7. Finally finished it. What a beautiful FM! I can see a lot of effort and detail went into it including the dialogue. Things went on for longer than I expected and in a good way, really felt like you went on a great little adventure. You get hints for everything and won't easily get stuck, that's a mistake many FM's do having the player waste over an hour only to ultimately read the solutions to advance. I like how it not only gave depth to the main villain, but also the player as this nice Robin Hood type guy. It had a few rather unique elements and ideas, especially in the final areas, as well as...

  8. There are also great soundtracks.

  9. Yes that is true, there are many startup arguments you can use and files you can edit. Writing the manager from scratch is easy. I got the parts of my launcher working in a few minutes/hours. I dont know and want to fix bugs in the internal downloader. To me, the internal mission downloader is great for getting/updating/inforeading missions, but not nice to write to notes in it, because it works very slow. I prefer a more "native" external application like notepad, so i can make a note much quicker, can easely switch applications, etc. And install/update the missions without opening the game. I only see that the mission manager-parts will take some hours. Because we need to search in files where to download the fms. Manage the database of the launcher, etc. And i dont see the launcher replaceing internal parts of the game. It is just an external tool, like the tdm installer. (That also updates tdm-files, outside the game)

  10. Since you can launch from command line, it will be relatively easy to make a launcher . I have already started and plan to have it at least slightly usable in a day or two.

  11. I'm a big fan of Rust. It's an well-designed language with excellent tooling. But it doesn't have great GUI support yet (although there are a few toolkits available), and integrating it into a larger C++ application is non-trivial (although possible). Designing a new loader from scratch in Rust with an Electron-based front-end — that might actually be possible, although it would probably need somebody with more than my beginner-level Rust knowledge.

  12. Sometimes, you don't want to do the research right away though whether the game is any good or not, so I just get the game and check it out later. I recommend using GOG Galaxy, as you can integrate pretty much all launchers there and see all your games. You can tag your games and create gamelists this way. So, these unchecked free games go into my "check reviews"-list. If the game is any good, it goes into my "Playlist"-list. Really nice games I plan to play in the very near future go into my "Priority Playlist"-list. So, to me, owning a game does not necessarily mean it enters my backlog.

  13. They still might just not like C#. Or rather use a language they know better. I, for example, would prefer Rust or even Haskell (yes, I'm serious).

  14. @greebo If you continue at this pace, each of my rooms from my next project will be created with a different version of Dark Radiant! When are you actually going to play another mission or two? When you retire?

  15. Commandline launch: TheDarkModx64.exe +set fs_currentfm alberic3 Replace alberic3 with the ID of any mission. Works in Linux via thedarkmod.x64

  16. @Goldwellas someone who would never use a WIP as the basis for a contest entry, I whole heartedly object. <it is of course fine with me>

  17. I do have some cut content from a mission originally intended for my Shadows of Northdale campaign. I have wanted to rework it for a while and this seems like a perfect opportunity to put it to good use. So provided folks are okay with that, I will enter. Half of the mission will be brand new and half will be from the existing map. And of course, I have prepared a video!
