@Fidcal: I'm only using Opera (v. 11.52) and not experiencing the issues you have at all. I can't really help you with this. I suggest you try to post at other forums who are running the same IP.Board version as we are (like this one) and see if you experience it there too. Or give another browser a try, although I love Opera I'm getting more and more used to Chrome. PS: I'm fully aware of the slowness of the forums from time to time, I'm looking at changing the Apache/PHP modules to optimize it further (enabling php cache etc). Dunno what's wrong there, sorry. Doesn't seem to be attachments, I tried to edit the post.

That's intentional from IP.Board actually, I was notified during the upgrade process that profile pictures are removed and replaced by a user's avatar. Will look into the smilie.

@Ladro: I owe you an apology, but just a small one... Since the domain was switched, the keys for reCAPTCHA wasn't valid anymore. The really strange part is that it still worked in Internet Explorer and Opera, but not in Firefox and Chrome. Anyway, the keys have been regenerated and reCAPTCHA works in all browsers now. Thanks for being stubborn about that!

Am I failing to understand your humor, Fidcal, or are you actually experiencing issues? If so, please elaborate.

@Ladro: I've tried registering accounts and resetting passwords from three different computers/networks (both home, work and a friend's house). I still cannot replicate the error you receive. Tried in both Internet Explorer and Opera. EDIT: Hmm, I was actually able to replicate the error in Firefox and Chrome. Strange, will look into it.

Load is way down, pages load much quicker. I tried looking into php caching software, but it isn't compatible with suPHP. Anyway, I think we can live with this. - To me it seems to load pages 100-200% faster than the old forums (after server tweaking).

I'm still tuning php, mysql and httpd for best performance.

Use the 'Mark Community Read' at the bottom of all pages.

I've registered a couple of test accounts and I cannot reproduce this. The reCAPTCHA worked fine in both instances. Maybe you have a bad referrer setting in your Firefox browser, reCAPTCHA needs the referrer to figure out which website the client visits from.

Haha, I just found out a cool new feature - you can not only choose to hide a member's irritating signature, you can even choose to hide the posts created by that member all together. Sweet stuff!

Yes, you are still viewing The Dark Mod Forums I've just finished the upgrade of our IPB Board Forums to the latest release. Packed with new features, rewritten code and all that. Have a look around. The skin is currently the default one, but will sooner or later be converted to a darker skin, to fit the Dark Mod universe. Also note that the forums have been moved from http://modetwo.net/darkmod to it's own sub-domain: http://forums.thedarkmod.com - all forum links will still work tho, thanks to Apache's rewrite-plugin. Please report any bugs, requests and comments in this thread. PS: The forums will run a bit slow the first hours as the cache is being rebuilt.

I'm thinking more of the user experience. Pages seems to load a lot faster now.

I would like to get feedback on if people have noticed any performance improvements on the forums lately, especially from now on as I've just done some config changes.

It used to happen here too - but now guests cannot register accounts. Only admins can register Wiki-accounts. The captcha system didn't work very well for the Mediaiwiki.

Sorry about the hold up, had to turn the forums off to make a DB dump and transfer it to the new subdomain. But I ran into SQL issues while upgrading to the newest release, had to submit a support ticket over at IPS. So, I opened the forums again and will have to make a new DB dump once I get a workaround. Not sure if it will be today. Please note that once the forums are upgraded to the newest release the skin will be the default one - we have to create a new TDM skin from scratch, but as I've heard it should be easy to do in the new IPB version.

I'm currently upgrading the Wiki to MediaWiki's latest release, and moving it to its own sub-domain. New URL is http://wiki.thedarkmod.com Will add rewrite-rules for the old URL so links etc will continue to work. EDIT: Rewrite rules are now working so no links to the old wiki URL should break, but just redirect to the new URL. By the way, the TDM download-link on the Wiki (main page) is broken.
