  1. I keep a .txt file of all Thief and Dark Mod fan missions that I've played. There's five TDM missions so far that have received my top ranking, and two of them belong to the William Steele series. Thank you, Grayman.
  2. I'd just like to let you guys know, that I've now updated the map to version 2.1. There are some minor improvements to the main mission, but the main upgrade is a village quest which takes place after the museum one. Pirates have raided a coastal settlement, and you get to sail your own ship in a quest to find three chalices once blessed by the Master Builder himself. Download here: https://www.oakhold.com/download I'm also working to get this onto the Minecraft Store, but it's ultimately up to Mojang whether they'll accept it.
  3. A modern extension to Sheriff Court in Edinburgh reminds me of Thief's architecture.
  4. Thanks guys! Maybe I should give it a spin! I did have a Dromed project about breaking into a Hammerite monastery like 15 years ago, but I ended up abandoning it.
  5. Not sure if there are any Minecraft players on this forum, but I thought I'd share my Thief-inspired map anyway. While it does not take place directly in the Thief universe, I've included some nods to the series, like Heartless Perry's pawn shop, Trickster's forest, a Keeper compound, Thieves guild, Hammerites, Mechanists, City watch and Garrett's place. There is a questline at the museum which is about retrieving seven legendary items for its collection. One quest has you finding the Keeper compound and another one requires you to do some jobs for the Thieves guild. There's also a mission which takes you into long forgotten Hammerite crypts. Download: https://www.oakhold.com/downloads/oakhold-2.1.zip It currently works in Minecraft version 1.14.4 only. I recommend pureBDCraft resource pack and Optifine to help with FPS and dynamic lighting. https://optifine.net/ https://bdcraft.net/downloads/purebdcraft-minecraft/
  6. Thanks for your help! After Judith's post I decided to delete the game and do a clean install. I did have vsync on, but I'll try the adaptive once the game has reinstalled. edit: Adaptive vsync did prevent drops straight to 30 fps, but the courtyard is still around 45 fps with low soft shadows & stencil. I guess my rig simply isn't powerful enough.
  7. Just a quick question, should soft shadows work on a 6GB GTX 1060? I get a major FPS hit even on the low setting, 60 -> 30 fps, less when I enter the training mission's courtyard. Otherwise the game runs just nicely @ 1440p with everything else maxed. My configuration file is ancient though.
  8. Anyone else getting a bugged skybox in 2.06? Specs: W10, GTX 1060, 1440p, i7 7700K, 16GB DDR4 e: Nevermind, this showed up on other missions too. I reinstalled TDM and skyboxes are back to normal.
  9. Steve Gibson mentioned in yesterday's Security Now podcast that Microsoft now has an official tool to disable all W10 update related stuff in Windows 7 and 8.1: https://youtu.be/55bPu-2tYMo?t=4735 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3080351
  10. I've disabled all cloud integration that W10 lets me and I've also enabled all settings in Spybot's Anti-Beacon: https://www.safer-networking.org/spybot-anti-beacon/ To be honest, W10 spying isn't very high on my list of privacy concerns. Nothing they gather can be linked to my real name (no MS account, computer user name is "Lenovo"). Amazon probably knows 10 000 times more about me than Microsoft.
  11. There's no mention of it being terminated on Twitter: https://twitter.com/thiefthecircle Probably something temporary.
  12. Adam Sessler's impressions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xL97cuRMXQs[
  13. South Park - The Stick of Truth Festung Europa Mount & Blade II IL-2: The Battle of Stalingrad I try not to get too excited about games these days. I guess I'm still bitter about Red Orchestra 2 and how the realism community hyped it to the heavens.
  14. True, but you don't have to make TDM Steam exclusive, it would just be an additional distribution platform. You could still download it from the official site (or ModDB/torrent) and play without internet connection. I'd love to see TDM on Steam and will certainly chip in for the submission fee, if donations are needed.
  15. Praise The Builder: The Dark Mod Is Standalone | Rock, Paper, Shotgun
  16. Congrats on the release & a big thank you for your hard work!
  17. Nu-Garrett's monologue makes him sound like the bastard child of (Nolan's) Batman and The Crow. I guess that's what's hip these days. No more antihero badassery.
  18. I don't think that's correct, for an example many greenlit indie games are still being sold directly by their developers. I think most games that are offered through Steam are that way only because the devs chose Steam as their only DRM.
  19. I hope that you guys are still thinking about bringing TDM on Steam Greenlight.
  20. Well, at least now there's a zero chance of a fake submission. Count me in for the donations.
  21. Greetings, new member here. Firstly, let me express my gratitude for the entire DM team and mission editors for keeping the true Thief spirit alive. Kudos. I came here to see your thoughts on the new Greenlight, after noticing that TDM hadn't been added yet. I'd just like to say, that it's only a matter of time when someone submits the game there. And that someone might do more harm than good by posting outdated screenshots, videos and bad info. Also, you might have to deal with Valve's legal department to get the submission removed, if the individual cannot be reached or doesn't want to delete it. So I think it would be best if the official submission got there before the fakes.
