  1. Well, so I just finished this Fm and heres the things that come to my mind after playing it (and keeping it spoiler-free, hopefully): - Your mapping skills surpassed my expectations, great work - Most parts of the mission had a good atmosphere, and the music was a big part of that - although I typically dislike missions with those kind of setting, this one was quite enjoyable - really long mission, maybe even a bit too long(if that is really possible), could have been enough plot for a whole campaign The only thing that really annoyed me was the last part of the FM Aside from that, I really liked your work and I will eagerly await your next FM .
  2. Is there any reason why I can´t find this one on the list of the ingame download menu? Played it years ago, when it was originally released and would like to play it again
  3. Just played this mission again, still quite entertaining. If the question is allowed: Where did you get those recipes from? Some of them sound actually quite realistic, others, well I guess funny
  4. Best FM so far, outstanding work. I don´t really play too much anymore, but this one was worth it.
  5. Found a CryEngine artwork collection, a bit older I guess, but some pictures might actually fit in here: http://i.imgur.com/28SC6.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ZSjEb.jpg http://i.imgur.com/b07eU.jpg http://i.imgur.com/JrRsV.jpg http://i.imgur.com/GvlZu.jpg My apologies if those were already posted and I missed them.
  6. Graphics are fine as they are, improvements on this side of the game would be nice, but I guess they are on the lower end of the to-do list. Only thing that really seems weird is the huge difference in quality of some textures. Some do have higher quality than similar ones in new released AAA titles, others look like thief 2.1, which only matters cause of the huge contrast, of course. This kind of game will always be a "gameplay first" type of thing and I guess that is everything you could possibly look for. (by the way, what are the next big steps planned for development, just asking ?)
  7. @ haileris It is only a three mission campaign so far, don´t know if anything else is planned. About the save files and crashes, interesting you mentioning this, the only time I experienced such a case before was in "the heart of lone salvation" on patch 1.03 long ago. I thought it was something mission specific cause the game would always crash after a short time after I loaded a save game no matter what I did or which direction I was heading. But I guess it has a different cause then if you also had such issues. I enjoyed this campaign on my first playthrough back when it was released the first time and I am eagerly awaiting 2.01 .
  8. Hello Sotha, I really enjoyed all the missions from this series I played so far (all aside lich queen) and I have to say that "the transaction" is my favorite TDM mission so far. Over all the years your mapping skills improved greatly and I am looking forward for more of these kind of missions. Maybe putting all the mission in some kind of campaign pack for the moment is a great idea to give newcomers some linked mission, knowing each one is of high quality and offers great entertainment. On the other side, if such a decision would be made, I think some of the older missions could get some quality improving changes like intros with pictures/ vocals, loot to next mission shop/balanced buy prices and some more eye candy on the older ones. If this would happen, I am quite sure this campaign could be a worthy unofficial/official one, closing a gap to following ones but also to keep newly won players. I enjoyed most of the missions more than T2X ones for example (not considering darkmods advantages enginewise), so I will be looking forward to your hopefully upcoming work.
  9. Coming home and reading about the big news, I´ll gonna take the chance to thank everyone involved in the creation of this masterpiece. Thanks to everyone who put their effort into this and helped creating one of the best fan made creations so far. You guys rock
  10. guess i will post this here... Was searching through the wiki and found this page -> http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=IdTech4_Open_Source I have to admit some of these things sound like "too good to be true", are the things listed there actually possible outcomes or just some kind of "might be possible after 5 years of work" stuff. Would really like to know if some of these might happen after 2.0.
  11. Another thing I´d like to know is, if games, that got released with greenlight can receive a workshop page like bigger ones (skyrim for example). Was searching for an answer, but didn´t really find anything that would be 100% helpful so far. If this is possible, it would be an awesome way to link new missions to the mod and let people rate them/make it easier for new players to choose. And like it was mentioned before, new modders/mappers might also join to create content.
  12. Also if you haven´t played it yet, T2X is a good option for free if you already got t2. Some really good missions, although I didn´t like the story too much, but i guess this is my personal opinion only.
  13. I also played all the FMs I tested so far on the highest difficulty, but I think many different difficulty levels are needed nevertheless. I guess when the standalone will be released, a huge spike of new players will arrive, including thief veterans that didn´t have a copy of Doom 3, but also many people who might just find the setting, the idea of sneaking around and sniping anyone with arrows (highest difficulty often means no kills) or other things interesting in their eyes and giving them a time to adjust to the mechanics might be easier without getting frustrated by higher difficulty settings. To pull an example why an ambitious mod should always think of all groups of gamers while keeping their original concept untouched is Neotokyo. A great mod with an outstanding soundtrack and setting on the first look, but in the end they only included a counter-strike like seek and destroy/ctf gametype and like 95% of the players left, because this was too hardcore/too boring for them and the developers didnt´t include more diversity so far and the mod is only rarely played today. While i agree that no gameplay aspects should be touched to keep the original feeling of the game, I think difficulty levels enable more different playing styles and a satisfaction for a bigger group of players. And in the end, every kind of player, who likes the game will donate to the community, in the best case with own maps.
  14. Well thanks just wanted to ensure the part with the hardware requirements But if this is true and this feature will make it to a future version of TDM, it might be a great topic to gather attention for the game as I have never heard anything like this in a game before (lack of hardware with eax support and I guess this might apply to many people)
  15. Just to bring this topic back to mind, are there still plans for a Greenlight release with 2.0? Although I already wrote my concerns here, I still think a Steam release might be an overall good idea, if the release package is well planned and full of polished content (a thing I won´t doubt^^)
  16. I remember a quite impressive video about eax and tdm on youtube -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccsKByfgB5s as i´m a complete noob regarding hardware/software issues, I´d like to know if Open AL support would make it possible for mappers to include such sound effects in their maps without the need for players to possess specific hardware like eax obviously does.
  17. Well, after a long time I decided to write here again. After reading through a bunch of gaming news, I found this: http://www.incgamers.com/2013/08/eidos-montreals-new-thief-wont-even-let-you-jump-when-you-want-to Don´t know if it is 100% true, but I guess this would destroy any hopes for a worthy sequel.
  18. After years of reading and watching the progress of this mod, i finally decided to share my thoughts. First of all u did an amazing job with this "mod" (mod is quite insulting for this masterpiece ) and i really hope a standalone release will finally give this the attention it really deserves. But there are some concerns i still have about this. Greenlight is a big chance, cause a free to play release of such high quality will attract many people, even those who might have never played the old games. The problem with this is, that the first release will already make the people judge about it for the future, and if it doesnt fit their expectations, they might never touch it again no matter what is going to be improved ( a bad thing for a progressing project like this). In my opinion, a campaign of good quality, which should be included in the main files and not be a separate download (reason for this is that most people wont accept fanmade stuff until they are convinced of the game as a whole), will set the popularity of this game. If the "official" campaign is not finished any time soon and you guys plan on a standalone release before, you should atleast make a list (maybe a vote?) of the 10 most popular/best designed/most enjoyable FMs and include them in the release package as "official" stuff so new player won´t have any concerns about their quality (commercial purposes ). I hope you understand my concerns, cause i think we all share the goal of giving TDM its well deserved attention.
