    I don't want it to be equal to t1/2, but it should remain a good game. The aspects to be mainteined, in my opinion, are the gameplay design and the atmospheric environment.

    That's probably true. But if you pay attention, every game that's under development will be "original" and will "break new grounds" and so forth. So it's hard to tell.

    We know what the whole point of this sequels are... use an existing successful title to reach new audience. I'm not sure I really understand the logic of this, but it's what they do. I'm such a pessimist! Let's just wait and see... And another thing, it's a new 'project'! so probably isn't going to be finished anytime this year. I think
  10. Nice! :] Making the rope start on the player's hand - instead of simply descending - would be problematic, I assume.

  12. I don't know how flexible is the rope physics but, can I swing "Tarzan style" with it?
  13. There was one thing/bug, worth pointing out, if it isn't already a known issue. In the statue room, I wanted to steal some things from a table without knocking out that guard. So it had to be done quickly. And there I was clicking all those coins and stuff and then, suddenly, i unintentionally grabbed the candle and waved around for a fraction of a second. Everything flew off the table around the room making a hell of a racket! That was very funny and I started to laugh, thinking I was dead already. BUT, the guard ignored all the noise. I'm a very clumsy and lucky thief

  16. Yes! I forgot to comment on the physics exploration! I did exactly that you said (in black).. it was an emotional moment :~ The demo illustrated very well the new gameplay possibilities unexplored before.
  17. He's merely pointing the fact that in the *originals* is hard. Playing the demos isn't a prerequisite for suggesting a better system (not to mention there is no rope arrow in the demos) Sometimes fans (like myself) sound like we are demanding things.. but we are only excited Btw - probably not very relevant - but I'm working on a game based on rope dynamics. It's a totally abstract game, but I was inspired by the thief rope. Maybe some feature I implemented, such as the double rope, inspires you guys here's a link to the thread in the 3dgs forums: link
  18. Hello all! Finally, I had the time to play st lucia! I've been waiting for that since last year Now I'm a very happy unemployed physicist playing a darkmod demo! How weird is that? o_O Anyway, I wanted to share my impressions and found this thread. So I'm using it! Be proud people! This mod just overcame all three thief games, in my opinion. It looks and feels better. The manipulation of objects is great.. it's not very useful, but I use it whenever I can.. "oh, let me put this vase back into place!" lol these small things do make a difference in the big picture. I didn't find any bug that wasn't previously reported. And even those were very subtle and didn't ruined anything. The worst was the menu, because I wanted to see my objectives. Eventually I wrote them down on paper. I kept pressing 'o' instinctually
  19. It definitely wouldn't be realistic. But to hell with realism! But I agree with the inconsistency.. Probably there would have to be 'ghostly body parts' on the ropes and mantling too.
  20. The big problem is indeed replacing the camera and using a player model. I'm against both, for this project at least. There are priorities, obviously. Even if people liked this idea i'd advise against working on this sort of things right now. But since we are chatting about it, I might as well throw some ideas (the moderators may want to move this topic to some 'random chat' subforum) I think the edge grabbing could be made visual by using some sort of 'ghostly hands'. Same thing with the bouncing of walls, with 'ghostly feet' hitting the wall. Furthermore, I wasn't really thinking about ninja abilities.. I expect this to improve the climbing experience, wich is one important aspect of the gameplay, with more options. When the player stops in some weird ruins to plan how to get 'up there' he has more options than rope arrows and mantling. New Horizon, No offense taken I understand the immediate connection to all requests like "Garret should have a bazooka! BAZOOKA RLZ!". But as I just said, I meant to give more climbing options, thinking mainly in fun gameplay! Not making him run like the wind through mansions and disarming guards with king fu abilities.
  21. Thieves cannot be agile? Being able to move along edges and make a bounce of a wall is almost offensive to compare with 'gta and supermario'. But it was just a suggestion, though
  22. Heya people! I just played Mirror's edge. Nice game.. but could be a lot better in my opinion! Anyway, there are some very good stuff going on there that would fit seamlessly into thief gameplay. Like bouncing off walls and moving while grabing an edge. None of this is new, of course, but it's nice By the way, I thought I mentioned this here before, but I searched the forums and found nothing!

  24. Bummer.. I really want to play this! But until next year I have to concentrate on my stuff.. Any video of the map on the way??
