  1. I'm using Ubuntu too for quite some time now, and it is definitely one of the most easy to install distributions.
  2. Textures that John P. made himself from scratch are definitely safe. Would be good to have a list of those.
  3. Yeah, Happy Birthday!
  4. The only thing you must be aware of is, when you map for TDM to not use assets of RoE. Not because it would be illegal (which it wouldn't be) but because it may not work on other machines which don't have it installed.

    Lags?

Does HL2 support real realtime shadows now? When I checked about two years ago or so, there were no real shadows. They were quite buggy and faked. Most of the time it looked ok, but this was because of the mappers and not of the engine.

    Lags?

Well, a troll has to hit a forum every now and then. Up until this point, I almost took it seriously: Yeah, thanks for your valued opinion. Glad that you came along and told us this surprising news, because in all these four years we haven't noticed how bad a choice Doom 3 for our project really is.
  7. Also if you play locally? Well, cheating in Q3 is quite pointless. If you play against the bots, it doesn't really make sense, as it is still multiplayer without human opponents. And if you play online against other players, then it's correct to disable cheating. Might be that they didn't bother to differentiate these szenarios.
  8. Yeah. Maybe he was thinking of online gaming. Never tried that with Doom 3, but I think cheats are disabled while in online mode. It makes sense to have a special command to allow them for online debugging though.
  9. The cheats work in original Doom 3 as well.
  10. Maybe this only doesn't work on some cards? The images look quite impressive though.
  11. When running with testmap for some reason the pipe for the lightgem no longer works.
  12. Is it a real RPG or s shooter disguised as an RPG?
  13. Yeah, that's what's going to happen. I think this is a valid approach, because artists should be first and foremost performers. Nothinding in their bunks and collecting money. I think there is not much the dinosaurs can do against it, unless they fight with GSG-9 or Navy Seals against the evil P2P people. If to many people are doing it, then there is not much a goverment can do about it. And considering how democracy should work, I would think that this is a big statement for politicians if 60%, 70% or 90% of the people are doing something.
  14. Never played it. Is it a shooter or what?
  15. Ha! Didn't know that the Czech also used this.
  16. I almost figured that it would carry over to the Euro as well, but I wasn't there since the Euro came, so I didn't know for sure. I'm quite surprised that there is a wikipedia about this. Where did you find it?
  17. Well, I can only talk about games that I actually played. But I heard a lot of good things about starcraft, so there might be some bit of truth in that.
  18. Never heard those. Quite funny though. I know one from my childhood, which still bothers me. In Vienna there were hundred and thousand (austrian) Schilling bills. Now in slang terms it happened that he hundred Schilling bill started to be called "one kilo" which is short for kilogramm. That always bothered me, because obviously a kilo is thousand gramm, so it should have been the thousand Schilling bill being called like that. Never understood why it was applied to the hundred.

    Lucid dreams

Happens to me as well. Often it starts with a great swooping, and then suddenly it doesn't work anymore, and I have to swim and struggle.

    Lucid dreams

One thing that I could do, when I still did this kind of thing, was to "select" a dream. So when I went to bed, before I fell asleep, I concentrated on the stuff that I wanted to know about myself. For example, a relation to a friend or such. This worked quite well. In those cases I usually had pretty clear dreams, and I always knew exactly what the symbolic representation meant. But this was a close to dream control as I could get. Maybe I would have gotten better if I pursued it more. Did you ever have a dream in sequences? I remember from my childhood where I had a certain dream and it stopped at one point. Next day I dreamed the same but a bit different and farther, just as if it were a sequel. Happened to me a few days with several sequences (not just two days).
  21. Funny! No, didn't play MoD, but would be interesting to look at it and see if I can recognize it. I doubt it thought, because I have seen some photos when my wife was young and the city looks still quite different.
  22. Where from? I'm living in Essen.
  23. Yeah, the l in "wuld" would have to be removed. With "biecause" I disagree though. It doesn't sound like "o" to me, more like an "au". that's why I wrote it this way. The biggest problem I had was to decide wether to use "e" or "รค" in some cases, because the difference is pretty small. When I read your translation, it was also quite hard to read. Looks to me like something from the north. If I look at the text and would have to decide where it's comming from I would probably say norwegian or finnish maybe.

    Lucid dreams

When I was young I read a lot of books about this, and tried to make it happen. Never worked though. It happened only on it's own sometimes. Sometimes I even had the chance to change something consciously which is really cool.
  25. The problem I wanted to point out is, that a speaker from, let's say Uganda, would type it quite differently then me, or some other speaker fom Japan. So writing in this way would be quite hard to read, because there wouldn't be a single way how to write, but many. I think this is exactly the problem that cultures suffer from where they have quite a lot of dialects. There is a reason why they choose an official language and stick to it. And of course it's hard to write this way for me, because I'm not used to it. I can read and type in english without thinking, but this is only because I do it now for years. Writing in this way is similar to learning to write in a new language. After some time I would be jsut as fast with it, as I'm now with regular writing.
