  1. I don't think they will need you to buy it again, you will probably get it on CD from where-ever you got it from and it will install steam from the CD like HL2 did. My view is I was going to get it off steam when they had a sale anyway, so doesn't really matter to me, but I can see how it would make someone mad. For example I'm not buying Battlefield 3 because it needs Origin.
  2. Very cool! Good to see you enjoy TDM Welcome to the forums.
  3. After some internal discussion we reached an agreement that the current Moddb setup it good. As said many times, Moddb is meant to promote the mod by displaying the best content possible to new users, weather that be fan made or team made. If your fan mission is not displayed, rather than being upset, try improving your map or your next mission to be of superior quality. Ask for help or clarification if you need too, but do it in a mature manner. If anyone creates a fan mission which is of excellent quality as deemed by the mod, you can guarantee it will be recognized and featured on Moddb. But this is done so at our discretion. Also please respect the mod's ability to identify which FMs we want to represent the mod to the public and that we volunteer our free time to help make this mod what it is. If there's any inconsistency it's because we don't have enough time to dedicate to the mod to achieve perfection. We aren't super heros so sometimes mod work does get pushed back or ignored for a while. As Baddcog mentioned there's lots of work going on behind the scenes which you guys don't know about. We've got the mod to where it exists as of now, please trust our integrity and intelligence to design it. I like suggestions if brought up in a mature manner, but the general tone of this thread is far too negative to be constructive imo.

    Check mark color

I don't think it's a no go, you clearly have the majority of votes for this new coloring method.

    Mines

What if it is a well lit area and you drop the mine far from the guard but in his sight. Should he notice it and go on alert? But if he does, should he be able to disarm it?

    Check mark color

About the 2 colors I just meant try not to have like an orange circle, green check, red ex, purple squares etc.
  7. Gorgeous work as usual Bikerdude

    Check mark color

I feel the same. The two colors make me feel like the player is carrying around a pencil box. @tels: You may want to rethink the red being negative in western culture though. Red is more of an attention color, think about all the brilliant red checkmarks we got in grade school But honestly, doesn't really matter to me, either is okay, just don't go with more than 2 colors.
  9. Unfortunately we have no food to give, but we can supply you with FMs!
  10. If you never played the original Halo I think they are making a remastered version which would be cool to go through. The first Halo was the only one of the series I ever liked.
  11. Well, Doom3 is already 18+, so technically we're already covered to do whatever we want unless it's full on porno. Even then I don't think anyone would take notice or care. Anyone remember the legal outcome of the Hot Coffee Mod for GTA SA? Also remember we are a Mod, not an independent game and the mappers aren't essentially creating the mod anyway. If TDM is responsible for what someone makes in a map, then Minecraft is responsible for all those horrid nude block images they make.
  12. If you haven't played it on the PC, I'd recommend Condemned: Criminal Origins.
  13. Woa! I've never seen someone get the key like that. Very cool! I'm glad you like he map. I noticed you missed some parts, But great video!
  14. Wow, hard to believe this was once Doom3.

    LCD Monitors

I have two of these: http://www.richardlovison.com/?p=91 I got each for exactly $200 a couple years ago on Boxing Day from Futureshop. One is about 4 years old the other is about 5 years old; they are both excellent. I clean them directly with a rag and there's no scratches, dead cells or any anomalies. They support a max of 1680x1050 which looks very crisp on these and I couldn't imagine a higher resolution helping much with anything. The color is great and games with lots of darkness is them look fine. There is some brightness change when you move your head up and down by a fairly significant amount, but generally my head is in the same spot when I go on the computer, especially when playing a dark game, so it's a non issue. I map a lot and these one of these holds the X Y Z and 3d views while the menus I keep on my second monitor, so I have lots of space. But I could easily map on one as well. The review says the viewing angle is smaller than advertised, but I haven't noticed a problem with it. I don't know how the newer Samsung models are, but I'd suggest looking into them. As for LG, I often notice the image quality is fairly poor on them when looking at the ones displayed in-store. Often they display poor coloring and blurry images. Before purchasing online you should find a local store that has one so you can take a gander at it before purchasing.
  16. If people are 'enhanced' by electronic chips wont that make them vulnerable to magnets and frequency interference? Think about that when getting a prostate chip
  17. The guy says there's no real world application in gaming for this tech, but say you have something like grass or tons of plants, rocks, bricks, signs, lamps, leaves, etc which would be the same thing repeating over and over. You could technically combine polygon tech and this tech, allowing much more polygons to go into characters and animated objects while the static and repeating things could be voxel tech. Also is this the same tech used in Delta Force 2? http://www.activewin.com/reviews/software/games/d/images/delta_force_2_3.jpg
  18. By large data set I'm assuming you mean they take up loads of hard drive space, right? Funny how Carmak is already working on ID6 when he just finished ID5
  19. An Australian company called Euclideon has released a video of their new technology that is supposedly ready for game developers to start using quite soon. The tech removed polygons and replaces them with a 'atom' based system. It will be a titanic leap forward in graphic technology, it can render 100,000X more than existing 3d technology. If this technology is as good as it sounds, so long to the millions of dollars many companies have invested into polygon based engines. I thought this was very cool.
  20. I don't understand the point of searching an image. If you have the image, why search it?
  21. I think things like this happen in Doom3 because the patchwork is too complicated and it fails to compile it correctly. I had this happen before with a specific trellis I made, eventually I gave up on trying to fix it and remade it almost the exact same but it worked. I must have had some part of it setup awkward, like an awkward curve or something. I remember similar problems when I'd map in the Half Life 1 engine. When things get to complicated they became invisible. Exporting will solve your problem though.
  22. Both seem to work for me. Sounds like a frustrating forum.
  23. So is max event limit caused by things moving, scripts, triggers or everything combined?
  24. When I first started watching this series, for the first 30 minutes my impression was that I wouldn't like it. But after watching the first episode, I spent the next two days watching all the rest of the episodes! I really like this series, if TV had more stuff of this quality I would watch far more often. I've heard that series like this are becoming more popular because movie audiences are dropping. I don't know how true this is, but removing the 1-3 hour restriction to tell a great story is a great move imo.
