  2. I did notice that the updater reported a failure to download from some server, probably Fidcal. It downloaded from others fine, however. On an unrelated issue, for some reason the fan missions i download are not in .pk4 format, but .zip. I wonder why that would be? I suppose id better just rename them to .pk4

    Thank you.

Finished the training mission, smack bang job guys! Nitpicking wise, yeah i had one CTD which i dont know the cause of (it was a few hours of uninterrupted play and i hadnt saved!) and fighting, while great one vs one, is a bit of a cluster with multiple opponents. Unlike Thief, swinging weapons dont impact objects and other AI, which is what id have to say i miss most from Thief (it was lots of fun watching AI strike each other). The observant will note that if thats what i miss most, im not missing much! However these are golf balls before the Eiffel tower of your achievement here. Absolutely fantastic mod, spot on. Youve just made Thief 3; or is that Un-Thief3?

    Thank you.

I want to congratulate you all, particularly my brother Dram who now has an industry job which im sure you guys helped him achieve! Thankyou for putting up/in so much work for us! We will surely recompense you with years of loyalty and wonderful missions and entertainment to come! Congratulations Broken Glass Studios, the Dark Mod team! Tom
  5. Hey all, long time thief fan and loved the dark mod from its very birth. Im Dram's brother. I saw the new bow cos my brother showed me, and i didnt like the way the fire arrows drop, the way all the arrows move very fast and the slanted angle and lack of aimer on the bow. Im sure you guys already argued this to death on the dev forums but i dont see much taken on board from the community here. The new bow and arrows are not much like in thief, i know its based on the real speeds of a medieval recurve short bow, but i for one really prefer that the bow had an aimer, that it drew back slowly, that the fire arrows flew straight and slow, and the way all the arrows flew slower then in real life - they feel like bullets now! a lot of people whined when thief 3 did this - i didnt like what thief 3 did either, but a lot did - it would be nice if we could get some public polls on this, and maybe on other major design decisions - these things are important to me and others who want to play the dark mod. Oh btw i really really love how its going - the music is great and the atmosphere is already feeling very thief like - i love the sound prop! i think most games underrate the importance of this! cheers --Tommo
  6. look i dunno. It doesnt sound like a good idea. Not to mention that with the atmostphere of thief or the darkmod, and thier medieval/victorian feel, this thief would most likely never have learned any sort of martial arts at all - so would lack the training to use such a choke effectively. And yes hed probably not be very strong. AND these guys have armour, likely with neck and chin protection, so itd be pretty hard to apply anyway.
  7. hehe i am actually privy to these background discussions as Dram, my brother, is on the team. The problem i thought with T:DS lockpicking was that it was great and fun of itself, but then it didnt quite fit in right. Lockpicking doors wasnt entirely convincing, and not being able to lockpick doors seemed even more artificial. The use of keys was also very unsatisfying. That among other reasons is why T3 kept impassable doors to a minimum. And obviously as has been said thats too large a sacrifice. Itll be interesting to see what approach you guys take to keep both the oddities and subjective effect's of this world satisfied.
  8. Oddity its true that lockpicking in thief is essentially pointless, but nevertheless i would have to concur with Taz that it adds that much more feel to the game - after all what we enjoy is not entirely rational. Also, just to add to the issue of locked internal doors, these places might have to lock some doors just to protect from the guards themselves. I, also, do like cycling through my keys. Im not sure about which lockpicking method id prefer - some doors should definitely be impassable though.
