  1. Oh god... I hope they just want to own the rights and not actually interfere with the development of OR. I wonder if John Carmack bails if they get too hands-on.
  2. I have the same attitude towards "n00bs" but not "newbies". I think new users should be able to trust a community they sign up for. That being said, I doubt someone who has had a virus on their computer more than 5 times has had their last. If they aren't interested in learning then by all means, click away
  3. Well removing spam bot posts before someone actually does click malicious links under the assumption, that they are safe because they are in an active topic, would honestly be the cleanest solution. The bot wont get hurt feelings anyway and it's only posting to hook people or cause trouble.
  4. I suppose off-topic is the proper place for a bot to spam, although I think it's the irresistible urge to debate off-topics winning over the amusement of an inanimate object =P
  5. It would seem some stricter forum mods would be handy. Nobody wants to be that guy though :/
  6. Finished with updating Lords & Legacy. Changelog updated in topic.

  7. Hey Southquarter22, Awesome to hear you enjoyed yourself and took your time while playing. When people are able to spend 2 hours on the map, it makes me quite happy to hear the time was also well spent making it I love the concept of having the transparent windows, but I'm actually in the process of removing most of them, so you can only see through some down in the Slums, as performance and the glitchy "popping effect" of the windows in Commons. With proper area design I could have kept it, but there's simply a too big load to keep it. Some of the changes are already listed as v 2.0.1, but the ingame version isn't updated yet. The layout of the Keep does look a bit funny. It's very pretty but it is "pop-gothic design", which is a result of eager building without using real references. I promise that the "final room" in my next mission will not have that issue, though performance will definitely be one.(*tease*) Edit: Mirrors are updated for the new version and the notes are in top of the topic.
  8. Cool so it's pretty much the same as in DayZero then, except the timer is after you leave. I like that. It means it's always a bit scary when you log off and you would really not wanna gamble with the timer while in combat. Gonna have to get this installed again
  9. If there is an elegant solution to making it actually work, for instance with a cube map, it would make large areas be easier to pull off, especially if there's a fog volume covering the section. Although after LNLs horribly big areas I've taken a very different approach to solving the issue with outdoor in my next map. Still the fade-in/out effect would be good to have as a standard feature in the func_portals. Is there any chance that could actually be something to see in the future?
  10. Does anyone know if they've fixed the "meta-game issue" with "combat logging" and server hopping? I can finally run this game without problems, but unless they've done something about those, even added content for depth seems a bit pointless still. You can have a well geared character and have it instantly ruined by someone who decided to exploit the current design :/
  11. Just finished playing it, very enjoyable FM with good atmosphere!
  12. Sweet, time to play TDM Grats on the release man!
  13. Played this after a long day and I really liked the voice over job for the guy in the beginning, great way of starting a mission, though maybe he's a bit too sarcastic for my taste Also the AI patrols were fantastic for the area space and it took some careful timing and sneaking to get around.
  14. I think it would be interesting if AIs checked their items whenever they reach a "wait path". Then have them raise to x alert level if an item is missing. It'll make it more challenging to pick them and it requires the player to either take a chance or observe the habits of the "mark". If the player attempts to pick their pockets while the AI is waiting to continue his patrol, the AI will immediately feel it and be alerted. Edit: After reading Demagogue's input I completely agree. You shouldn't have to pick between stealth or loot. If you play right you should be able to have your cake and eat it too. With that in mind, and what I wrote above initially I'd suggest: Have the AI get alerted if you try to pick him while he's waiting, but have him not notice if picked while patrolling. If he's missing loot next time he gets to a wait, he just does a remark.
  15. @Chedap I've got a gross revelation for you. It's not rain water, it's sewage runoff. Something has been clogging the pipes recently. You should go check it out. Although now that I'm doing stuff, I think I'll put more emphasis on that down there. That hour glass thing is funny but I don't think there's much I can do about it, as it's in the water volume of the pipe and as a result "floating" . As for lights, I don't think I can add more light sources, though I'm playing around with dynamic ambient light controlled via zones. If it has good results, I'll add it. Thanks a lot for the input! Edit: I had a look at light placements and messed around with dynamic ambient light. In my opinion, I can't make it better. The streets are supposed to be dark at night, and street light is enough for people to see where they are headed. The details in The Commons area shouldn't need any more lightning. If I had built the 'Nobles Quarter' or 'Poor Quarter' as originally intended, the lightning would have been different those places (brighter and darker). @Gamer_x64 Strict maybe isn't the word but as this is my only map to maintain I think I can allow a patch after a few months. Especially when you find that there's an objective that doesn't work. Kind of a deal breaker for me. Don't feel bad about reporting bugs in public, that's what the thread is partly here for. Anyone's welcome to send a PM if they are more comfortable that way though. I think there's about 70 TDM missions or so, I haven't played through many myself, but I know there's a lot of fantastic missions.
  16. I'm finally doing another update for Lords & Legacy. If you have any thoughts or ideas, please feel free to write me here or in a PM. Thanks!

Oh and a new is underway Nbor1more. When working with a busy man as "DEATHBLADE2014", the flow is a bit different than on my own :)

yes, you need to make a cubemap wich is a reasonable facsimile of the outside area for all those windows you have triggered VPs on - it will improve the perf a lot and get rid of the horrible snapping on/off issue.

Yeah cubemaps would be awesome, but I'm considering just going for removing the transparency completely, except for the ones that can open. I'll have a go at it tomorrow and see :)

  17. Hey Gamer_x64 let me just say right away that that issue with the loot bothers me incredibly much at this very moment. I got no idea where I messed up when updating the mission, but I obviously messed up. I like to tease players a bit, but not like this. =P With that in mind, I'm gonna finally do another update for the end of this week and see if I can sort out a couple of other snags that has been reported since last. Thank you very much for the feedback, the kind words and most importantly for playing the mission. It's good that you enjoyed the mission aside from the issue above. I'm downloading your recording so I get a chance to look over your shoulder. I'm a bit ashamed to say I didn't know the name of the writer behind the novel Silence of the Lambs was based on, but I appreciate the reference Edit: On second thought I'm gonna take a few days and go through what I wanna add, adjust and fix. And yes, the 3 cardplaying guards doing the "butt-shuffle" are now fixed. Anyone reading this who's got a bug to report is more than welcome to write here or send me a PM. Thanks in advance Edit: I saw that video and I had some good laughs! I appreciate the fact that you had to translate most of the text and still took the time to elaborate your play. Very funny witty comments, and I managed to optimize a couple of little things accordingly. Hope you do more play-throughs of other FMs.
  18. I'd love to see a troll-off between this guy and the one who made a user for the purpose of thrashing Thief, in over 500 posts without getting paid to do so.
  19. I plugged TDM over at http://day9.tv/d/Day9/day9s-day-off-more-suggestions/ . Show Sean [Day9] Plott some love, and check out his show :)

If they are also Day9 fans, it can't be too bad :)

I like day[9] a lot, but I don't see the whole Starcraft/MTG to TDM crossover thing happening.

      Kvorning

Haha don't worry I don't think that's ever gonna happen. I was hoping a few more would check out TDM and if lucky, Day9 will do a day off play of TDM some day.

  20. Awesome man! Gonna enjoy this big time when I get my new gfx card!
  21. I was gonna say try removing drivers for SB as Creative makes great hardware but horrible software, but then I realized you were talking fix in general.
