  1. Fixed in 2.07, thanks guys!
  2. How hard is to intitute a right click in the "new missions" right column menu? Was just thinking, what checks the 'validity' of the "green check mark" ? Its annoying. Not a huge deal obviously but if you could change the state of any item in the "new missions" column just but right clicking. Toggle it checked or not. Like a script that just said, "touch a saved file that doesn't exist and then the game thinks its finished or un-toggle it and say, let's play that again. Maybe a prompt if it goes that way, that says, "are you sure you want to overwrite the save file". That gives the player the opportunity to think. What checks the logic for that check mark? ...just curious. What would anyone propose as workarounds besides completely oo prog? Is it already db driven? edited for content
  3. Dishonored 2 is 59.99 on steam right now in US. Oh you're in Canada? That should still be the same as any AAA game basically ever costs though when it comes out on Steam.
  4. I got my mic I'll have to dig around for voice scripts. Any links or recommendations on audio cleanup/leveling/etc. in Audacity? I installed it but haven't messed around with it yet.
  5. SSDs from Crucial and Samsung are all I've ever purchased.  My original 60GB Crucial is in its third system (laptop) and has been trouble free for a few years.  Crucial (Micron) and Samsung (along with Kingston I believe) make their own memory so they know its quirks/nuances and how to interface with it.  Samsung of course makes their own controller so... yeah everything in the drive they make which you can't beat.  I think Kingston has occasional issues in their QC dept. so Samsung and Crucial are the only drives I ever recommend to anyone.  So I agree with Bikerdude and lowenz.  Will be a great purchase.   SSDs and Monitors are the things which make the most difference.  A 1" larger monitor you can see instantly and more real estate gives you more room to work and makes things easier to see, once you have it, you immediately appreciate it.  SSDs are increasing the speed of the slowest piece of hardware in a computer.  Its amazing how long we went with 50MB/s being the established norm and its also astonishing how much faster even an old PC feels with a quick SSD installed.   Your video card will change but you'll never go back to a spinning disk for your primary hard drive once you get that SSD installed.  It would be like using a dial-up connection to get on the internet.
  6. I think I'm going to go with the Rode nt-usb. All black, pop filter and sounds good from what I've heard and read. Thoughts?
  7. FWIW, if you can afford a 500GB, get it. If you get a 256GB you'll just wish you'd spung for the larger drive after you've installed 5-6 games + windows cause you'll be out of space (modern game releases). Also, do not partition the entire drive. Leave about 5-8% (your choice, I use 8-10%) of it unpartitioned in Windows setup. Then it performs fine if its full or if it needs to replace bad blocks over time and performance shouldn't decrease with time. So 512GB drive = ~470GB formatted. 256GB drive = ~235GB formatted.
  8. For Win7 http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19151-windows-old-folder-delete.html Also, has to be run as Administrator or you'll get permissions error. You want to make sure you get all of your /user/_profilename_/documents /photos/ /music/ etc. stuff out of there first and copied/moved over to your new installation prior to deleting. If you have the room to spare it's good to keep it around for week or two just to make sure there's isn't something you forgot to grab.
  9. I'm really curious, how does this system have 10GB of RAM? EDIT: Oh so they have 2x 4GB and 2x 1GB modules? Wierd layout. My only other concern is that the page also states: "Interface: SATA" Doesn't specify SATA II. So an SSD may be capped at 150MB/s throughput. Seems odd that a computer would have USB 3.0 on it and not SATA II. Maybe HP didn't specifiy it was SATA II? It will still be 2-3 times faster than a HDD but not 5x or faster. Seek times will be instant though so, still quite an upgrade.
  10. Seems like the best bet is to get a single seat Enterprise license which runs (i believe) about 6-8$ per month. So 100ish $ per year and you can turn off Telemetry and disable auto updating of drivers at least. Looks to me like this is the only way forward. EDIT: This seems in-line with MS's desire to turn all their assets in to a subscription model. If you want free or one-time fee then you get all the garbage that comes with it so MS can use your info for AD revenue. What are you guys' thoughts?
  11. 1.2 patch added several "Adaptive Resolution" settings which seem to be the entire cause of the problem. Still not completely fixed yet however frames are way better. What's amazing is if I run with Adapt Res ON and set the settings to Perf or ...basically anything, the frames are not as good as with running Native res and all that garbage off which makes no sense at all. Getting between 29-44fps in the same area that was dropping to 13 before. And prior to that I was getting 35-44 in with certain loaded save games. Its just weird. Clearly screwing with the resolution actively is not a good thing.
  12. Ok. I can get a mic but with Thanksgiving next week, I probably wouldn't receive it till the week after, so yeah. Oh well. Maybe next time I've done impersonations/imitations since I was a kid as a way to entertain myself and others. You never know how you sound till you get feedback so I appreciate that, thanks. I'll look for a mic over black friday sales.
  13. That seems like mis-information to me, stumpy. You have a link?
  14. This is just beyond the docks, no visible water anywhere. Just confirmed this same behavior with the 275.95 drivers. When you come off the docks for the first time, up some stairs at the end, dude hanging out of a ground floor window dead (first blood fly infestation and nests with blood amber intro) with the building behind you that contains the Ruin and the 1st shop. So I get off the boat, frames are low but still fluidish mid to high 30s on the actual docks. I go through the blood fly building, kill everything, FPS are from 50-80 in the building. Emerge on the opposite side on a balcony overlooking train tracks, etc, medium sized area, frames are back to 35-38 for about 20 seconds and then ...back to 12-13. If I go back in the building fps immediately goes back up to where they were 50+ spend 30sec or so inside then come back out again on the balcony, FPS is still fine around 35-38 and again after about 15-20 seconds they go to 12-13. This is just standing there with nothing new being rendered aside from what was already being rendered at 35-38fps. wierd. Up to this point had no issues.
  15. I personally have much better luck running Maximum frames to render ahead (1) instead of (4) but... my GPU probably isn't able to keep up let alone render 4 extra frames ahead so. On a side note, this game definitely has some hiccups. I can just stand there after loading in past the docks staring at the thoroughfare just beyond the docks and I have 38fps. Not moving, not doing anything. And after about 20-30 seconds of just standing there the frames go nearly all of a sudden down to 13. LOL. After that if I turn and go back in the building, back to 50+ and then go back outside and now its just teens. What happened to that 38? Very strange. Oh, and... running Ultra preset with Shadows on VHigh, Depth of Field off, Lens Flare off, VRAM usage is sitting at 7471MB @5760x1200. I probably need 16GB of system ram. Maybe that's the 20 second thing kicking in though I'm sure system RAM can load 8GB way faster than 20 seconds. Probably more like 1 second. I wonder what's going on. Maybe the 1.2 patch will help :\
  16. Hmm. The steam video of the game looked interesting but I'm kind of at a loss for words. It looks ok. Kind of looks like a cross between Thief and Dishonored and... 30 years ago? Seems a bit mixed. Really all I wanted to do what sit in front of the fire on the rug and watch the kitten sleeping. TLDR:: SteamDolls? what? Dolls? Naked pagan girl in the intro? Guy in a modern suit? Not my thing. The rest of it was not something a developer should put in to peoples hands without further "work". I love the disclaimer they put on these things, This is early alpha build and thanks for your understanding or whatever. Why would a dev with a prospective game idea think it would be a good thing to push something like this as a demo of a game they're making is beyond me. Here is the premise: We'll put you in a room and you can move around, look around, and you have hands. The hands disappear whenever you grab something and when you grab something the hand animation closes over the coarse of about 3 seconds. Right, its alpha, we'll forgive that. So, you're in a room and you have to touch everything in the room to see what does what. And only one thing will do something! That's the exciting bit. All the stuff that does nothing... we won't give you any audio clues, queues, or... any sound what-so-ever so you won't have any idea what's going on. UNTIL! you find that one thing that I want you to find and then, that's your next clue. So yeah, behind a restoration, find the card behind the painting, and then it has a radio station on it and there's only ONE radio in the room so you go in you can tune in the radio of course, why would you be able to do that so you go get the card and drop it on the ground about 7 times trying to stick it IN the radio but that does nothing so then you try every other thing, like hitting it with hammers, throwing screwdrivers at it, then you're back to the stupid card with the station on it. Ohhhh... you have to push the paper playing card in the freaking monitor... F!@!!#@%@$ ok.... alpha? eh... noo... ok alpha.. whatever. So the dude comes on the screen and says something and its nice because there hasn't been a single sound since the kitty was purring by the fire and tells you to reset the circuit breaker or whatever. So... Ok... panel on the wall with electrical symbol on it (which doesn't look like a breaker box at all) and yeah, there are screws in each corner so you're going to need the screw driver but hey, you threw that at the TV you put a playing card in so... ok, lets see if we can find it ... nope, BUT you found out that you can teleport straight through walls in to the black void that is your life as a developer. So, ok, reload... do everything again (is this dark souls but 20 times more frustrating with no audio?) and then you take the panel off by touching the tip of the screwdriver to the screws. Inside is what looks like a button and an "odd" fuse (two of which are lying on the floor in the other room) and what appears to be 3 switches on the right side. The switches don't frob, nothing of course gives you any feedback as to yes/no, button doesn't frob, fuse doesn't frob. The two fuses on the floor won't do anything and I can't pry it out with screwdriver, pliers, gigantic vise grips, or the hammer. No thanks. Exit. Why would a dev with a game he wANTs people to play put out stuff like that? Wow... lots of time went in to that. No. And a dumb rhetoric on the radio something about "getting rich" rofl. Fairly dissapointed. Also, the name is really dumb. The positive would be, sitting by the fire watching the cat which is nearly the only place there's audio.
  17. Hey! I ended up going with a 1080 and perf is great with most everything. Still haven't pulled the trigger on Vorpx yet though. I've played 1 game of Onward and Spellfighter and I have to say.... locomotion doesn't make me dizzy or sick but it makes my entire body ...like...hot. Like I'll start sweating in like 10min and its a lot to take so i'm not sure how I would do with games that don't have head movement at all. Probably be too jarring. Feels too much like sliding and not actually moving. I've even tried it seated and its the same. It may subside after a bit of use, not sure. Thanks, BuckleBean, I'll check it out.
  18. I can pretty closely mimic that voice. My mic is shit though. PC350 headset...so...yeah https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2_AR5JmcSd4N1ljcnIzTnVyd2M/view?usp=sharing
  19. Finally finished this mission today. Spent about 6.5 hours enjoying it if you can believe that. Really superb in a lot of ways and its larger that I thought going in to it. So many cool things packed in to this FM. Just fantastic.
  20. I just got my vive this week as well Was talking to Biker about running TDM and did some searching and found this thread. Great info contained here in. Now I'm wondering if I should fork out for vorpX and see how it goes but I'm guessing I'm going to be struggling to run it at a playable level. 3D would probably be out of the question entirely right now. My system has 2 780gtx's (non Ti) but I've read a lot about absent SLi support and I doubt a single one could handle it. Suppose to be as good as a 970 but Nvidia stops updating their drivers for older cards (love that...). I've just been running some of the demos that are more taxing like Budget Cuts, Tilt Brush, and NVfunhouse and seen some frame issues already. NVfunhouse is gawd awful performance but that's expected. TDM is an older engine and easier to run but with vorpX, 3D, yada yada... I'm sure it would be a slide show if not utilizing SLi. :\ Wonderful to see this works though and I'm going to get in to it after a gfx card update.
  21. Congrats guys! Excellent fixes and additions.
  22. My biggest issue and one that I honestly can_not_believe_they_are_going_forward_with is .....automatic driver updates. If drivers are working, for the most part, they never need altered. If you're a gamer and update your graphic drivers or audio drivers for a particular game, YOU KNOW HOW TO DO THAT or can figure it out. Its part of gaming, has always been and will always be (or will it?) More importantly, if you want to run an older game on older graphic drivers you don't want MS automatically undoing the work you've done to get a game running on older drivers. I use SLI and 3 monitors and getting things set up so they work is not always a given, particularly with fresh-out-the-box driver updates being pushed to your system. In Windows 10 Pro you can apparently disable specific device driver updates using the group policy manager which is at least an option. Its just asinine to have to block drivers so they don't auto update, disable blocking, update a driver, re-enable blocking, etc. when you could just provide a SIMPLE FREAKING check box in the updater that says, "don't install drivers" for this certain device or this certain device. Sooo dumb. Sooo backward. Also... what is the average idiot user doing when they come back to their computer, the video driver has updated to a broken one and their screen is black??? What are they doing? Calling a support tech? Its ridiculous. At some point I'm going to make a fresh Macrium image of my Win7 install, install Windows 10 pro so I can get my "free" (YIPPIE FUCKING DIPPY!) key, make a Win10 install disk, and then re-image my system back to Win7 and continue using it for the foreseeable future. I also can't believe they've added advertisements to my Operating System....I'm sorry...what??!!?!?!? What sucks is, IMO Win10 can DIAF for all I care but since I'm a gamer what do I do for game compatibility? Any time some company has you over a barrel they always get away with murder. Here's hoping that Linux takes over as the dominant platform and that Vulkan becomes the dominant API. I've been using Windows since its inception and have always enjoyed their platform but seriously, MS can go f*ck themselves.
  23. Those units have "Zone-based access control lists". Based on what Biker has said, this is what he's looking for. Cordon off the devices in the home in to a zone and control access to those devices in a specific way. :thumb: Personally I'd still go the non-smart-device route as the tech is just not mature and isn't full featured.
  24. Personally I would recommend, if you just just bought the "smart tv", take it back and get one that doesn't have the "smart" features. Reason being, they're currently garbage IMO. The interfaces are muck and not well designed and buggy. They also offer only those things that companies paid them to include. Get a regular TV and toss your last computer systems hardware in to a cheap box with power supply and connect it to the TV. Then you have all the options you'd have using a PC, an interface that you choose, all the options on the web that come along with a PC, like a full - un-blocked web browser, and you can access all the sites/services you want unfettered. Full access, fully configurable, and the TV does what you tell it to using a bluetooth/wireless remote that controls the TV too. Its not "wife friendly" (that's a saying, not mine, I'm not being a chauvinist) as in, you won't have 1 click browseable menus for a lot of things but that can be worked out if you're using Kodi w/Harmony remote in most cases. Plug ins for Netflix or pretty much any other service are available. I did this with my old hardware using my old Win7 license and I'll never go back. Smart TVs are pretty imature software wise from all I've seen. You're usually going to get, "It works with this this and this...but this doesn't work or this doesn't work" kind of issues where if you're using a seperate connected box you're not going to have those issues. Plus you have to deal with the issues you have where the device is communicating with some servers for data reporting/usage/updating statistics or has a camera/mic built in and its always on cause, Oops! we forgot to turn them off by default or other non-sense.
  25. If you're using Windows 10, you are a target! haha, j/k! Seems like Biker is more concerned with "pick and choose" outbound blocking than the other way around, AB. Also, if you're not monitoring inbound and outbound communications, how do you know if you're a target or not?... eh? It does seem a bit overly complicated to me in all honesty, however far be it from me to tell anyone what to do on their network. Its a good way to learn, experimenting with network devices and software. What are you specifically trying to filter, Biker? There are less complicated, targeted solutions to achieve certain results but that all depends on the results. Can you expound upon your network goals?
