  1. Well I hate to tell you I was looking at a X1900 for my new summer PC. Now they are expensive!

Point is, it's not something worth starting a thread or a potential argument over at this stage.
  3. Roll up, post here if you are meant to be doing something.

Yes, forget about different arrow heads at the moment. There's no need to overcomplicated this; it's not Oblivion.
  5. sounds hot, erm, I'll see what I can do...
  6. I've suggested to the Doom3world.org community that we team up to improve GtkRadiant generally, to which all would benefit. As in, rather than individuals contribute to the codebase, have a central website (or wiki) where we can identify improvements and keep track of what we as an editing community think needs doing. We'll see what happens. Probably nothing. Of course, that wouldn't have too much impact on DarkRadiant (although we'd benefit from more user-friendliness), because we'd still need more specific features.
  7. erm, do me and I'll upload to our own ftp so the rest of the team can get them davidmassey.fingernail@gmail.com
  8. well, email them or upload them somewhere.

    stop it, you two!
  10. Hero is much better than House of Flying daggers, although they all are very nice to look at.

My suggestion for hair would be to use just a normalmap for areas with shorter hair, like the snout, belly, etc. and then stick alpha planes on the longer bits. The problem is that with proper alpha blending you get no shading, and with the alphatest one you get a hard edge. Might be worth experimenting with some sort of blur shader on those bits? Like the heathaze effect, tweaked to make it look more hairy. That might look good and also remove the need to animate waving hair.
  12. Yeah, the game is set in Cyrodiil, one of about 5 or six provinces of the world of Tamriel. And it's a landlocked province, surrounded on some sides by sea, and others by more land. Now Morrowind was set on the island of Vvardenfell so avoided this problem, but Oblivion just counters it by having invisible barriers at the border of the province of Cyrodiil. That's it, really. It also displays the text "You cannot go any further in this direction. Turn back". I expect most people who play the game will travel to the edge just to see what happens, but the map is huge enough that there is no need to explore further, really. My interpretation is that it's just there as background scenery, mountains and such. Obviously there is no "content" over the borders - no dungeons, towns, monsters or NPCs. So it's pointless in that regard, but I suppose fans could enlarge the world to include all the provinces (that would make a huge game )
  13. They would've had fur stuff to wrap up in in severe climates, I expect. The nudity would most likely have been for battles/rituals/at home Animal skins may have been worn so as to cover, but still not "clothed".
  14. Nah, I play it with bloom on but it still looks fairly pretty even without that, so definitely buy it anyway. When you finally do upgrade it will look even better, but it's comparable to Doom 3 or Thief 3 really.
  15. Yes! Well, no. At least, it's not planned yet, and would require quite a large amount of time to maintain and update (let alone program and design). That's if you mean some sort of online database. If it's just a public ftp server, then perhaps. But on the other hand, I'm sure the traditional Thief landlords, epithumia (thiefmissions.com) and KOMAG (keepofmetalandgold.com) will be willing to lend a hand.
  16. we want them! erm, just make a photobucket account or something. Or email me and I'll host them at my own server. LORD KNOWS BUT DON'T JUST SIT ON THEM!
  17. Wouldn't a Thief-universe city-mod be absolutely awesome? I mean, sure, Oblivion comes with 16 square miles of landscape, countryside. etc. Well why not have 10 square miles of sprawling victorian metropolis and a little surrounding countryside set in the Thief universe? A helluva lot of work, to be sure, but it would be rather awesome. You could join the hammerites, the watch, the thieves; a true THIEF RPG. Ah well, we can dream. But then, the Dark Mod could do that too, it'd just require a lot of extra faction-style and persistant-universe coding etc.
  18. I like 'em both, this decision seems pretty much made due to the overwhelming consent I feel brewing.
  19. I'm enjoying it more because Oddity likes it! Just something about that seal of approval that is so difficult to attain. But yeah, it's great generally. I've tweaked the ini so it looks great and runs fine so it's all THUMBS UP. Buy it, it's a classic.
  20. It's true what they say, this game is awesome in enough ways to make the niggling issues essentially unimportant - which is great!
  21. The lockpicking is like the Splinter Cell lockpicking minigame; it's pretty decent, but occasionally frustrating since you can break lockpicks unlike the Thief DS system. But it is more challenging than TDS.
  22. Amazon should be shipping mine tomorrow so if I'm lucky I'll have it Thursday, if not, Friday which is the official Euro release.
  23. I'd appreciate it if you didn't discuss my fine features!
