http://dukope.com/ Papers, Please! I am pretty sure I have played this game before. Romania in 1986, was it?

It's got a black humor. Just the very premise... You play an official in a police state, haha, so wrong... Only an indie game could get away with that. FWIW, I remember feeling for E.Europe in the '80s & being endlessly fascinated to meet & talk to people from there... And now we can. =)
-
The premise seems like something out of a joke. "What would be the most boring game ever? How about dealing with bureaucratic paper work of some communist republic?" A developer that can turn that into something interesting is a god!
-
Great game. And Republia Times cool too!

http://effingarcade.tumblr.com/post/36277287313/molyneux-and-fucking-kickstarter A wonderful, wonderful rant on what's wrong with Kickstarter.

Sotha: Russian was a poor example. I meant that even tho the language might reflect badly on the writer, it's the message that counts. Of course, I rather prefer a professional, well-thought out and presented opinion, too, but sometimes cutting through the bullshit is easier when you can just every f-word instead of reverse translating stuff like "utelizing synergy-driven brand effects"
-
Sure, but an intelligent writer should be aware that their important message may be completely ignored due to inability to write properly. Their important message will sink into the bottomless depths of empty-minded drivel that is the blogosphere. In the modern era information flood, the reader must carefully evaluate the data on multiple criterion before accepting it.

Absolutely true. There was a very insightful article around Julian Assange's alledged rape and the situation in Sweden, where things seem to have gotten out of control regarding what is defined as rape. However, the article was so hateful and biased that even if all stated fact were true, I could not ever use it as a reference.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-20165344 Elite up on Kickstarter, with added BBC coverage. Ł250.000+ within a single day.
-
My favorite Elite clone was Hardwar, and I wish that'd get an updated treatment. But a new version of Elite itself would be very cool too!
-
Already pledged 20 GBP. While there is no real info on Elite (neither video nor screens), the campaign runs for 60 days. This is plenty time to make up my mind and retreat, if necessary.

Haha ok I may play it. HL1 was a good game in itself.

@BD: +1. I thought this to be another Duke. ^^

I'm pretty sure that Doom 3 modders are supposed to be the arch enemys of HL2 modders are (according to D3W). So, arguably TDM is their direct rival...? Well, probably Classic Doom 3 mod but it'll be fun to play with that rivalry idea anyway. Too bad Cruible wont be ready to be released the same day. DIE HL2 MODDER SCUM!! LoL

The game gets a bit challenging when you have the Goat Queen helmet, the jetpack and become the Devil goat.

Will get old fast...Just a silly flash in the pan.

I think that's all it was ever supposed to be, it started as a joke game to train new team members on an engine, and after someone put out a video of it online, the internet exploded and demanded they make it a game, even though they didn't want to initially.

The game companies used to be good at controlling the small number of Magazines that offered reviews. Now, with so many review sites, they have changed strategies. I am not sure that the article really reflects the true root of mediocrity here. Were publishers ever willing to risk divisive artistic games? At least now, there is a fact-check against pure shilling. Sounds more like a critic raging against the the dilution of his craft. Point taken about the poor deals given to developers over t...

some are being ruined, seen loads of reviews where the first bits of text read 'i dont like this type of game so i've given it a low score' so if a games company only see's the score then that game is likely to get binned.

Speaking of IGN, holy crap is this terrible: http://corp.ign.com/

MMORPG? How disappointing.
I love spaceships in my mediaeval fantasy, though. Very much.
-
It can be good , it can be bad. Games like AD&D Spelljammer, or Wizardry series are so confusing: party is taken from fantasy world into spaceship, left on another fantasy planet to fight with some Darth Vader cousin and his robot minions. Plus valkiries on jet scooters, plus rhino humanoids with muzzleloaders... what a mess.
-
Wizardry VII was the best classic RPG, and I love it to death. It is one of my favourite games precisely because of its strange technology-meets-magic style.

Wow, The Fly. Why's he wearing lipstick? I... have several questions.
-
Once Brundle-fly dreamt he was a whole family, merged with Geena Davis (what a nice idea) and her unborn baby. So maybe it is a part of this transgender deep Self merging of polarities and achieving godlike wholeness... by wearing lipstick and not shaving legs at the same time. Deep.
-
This thread is now cooking... The Fly traumatized me at the age of 13... I was so jaded then... boom.. The Fly just eroded my comfort zone with horror flicks.

Cool. Disorientation deserves its spot there. I know most of these but there a few I have yet to try.

"Infinite is as lavish as it is cerebral, as difficult as it is accessible. It’ll be many different things to many different people, and it will be discussed, dissected and deified for many years to come...So, when will gaming have its Citizen Kane moment? Forget that. When will anything else have its BioShock Infinite moment?" -- from Metacritic.

I loved Bioshock 1 but for some reason I couldn't get in ti Bioshock 2. I got as far the third level and gave up. So I've been on the fence with regards to No. 3. If it's thats good then I'll probably give it a go. Will try and wait until I've finished my campaign though.
-
Wasn't Citizen Kane only really revered well after it debuted? I remember reading that it wasn't all that well received when it first released.. we may already have our Citizen Kane, and are just waiting on someone to recognise it.
-
you have to be online to play it, and the game saves when it thinks you should save, you have no control to save when you feel like it. its basically a passageway and arena game, the levels feel open, while you can do some exploring its rather restricted to a couple of rooms, or corridors leading to the other side of a gate. They've gone out of the way to make the game feel like its set in the time period its set in. There's some game ethic's that may offend some people. eg racial segregation.

36° and high humidity. Whoever thought up this weather--

I'd trade for some summer about now... been getting down to 2C with up to 100% humidity on a nearly daily basis.. and there's another 1-1.5 months of this left.
-
My philosophy is that if it's cold, I can simply get warmer clothing and maybe heating. But there is no protection against heat, I can get completely naked, it won't help! lol

6th july, uk, we've had a months rain in 12hrs.

We had a lot of rain today. So it's not that hot anymore.
-
I can't stand being overheated. But, as if I had wished for a wish from a devious genie, I have the opposite problem. I sleep downstairs and my wife cranks the A\C until I'm frozen. I wear winter pajamas in the summer. Then when I do go outside I sweat like a pig.
-
I have the same problem - plus I tend to catch a cold due to the heat differences. So I use generous quantities of soda water instead of AC.

I am not a machi.... ... Anyway, I really am not a machine. Started this mission in October 2014, and didn't progress with it through most of the Spring and Summer. Things are going fine now, however.

That depends on which planet you're on, so it's a hardware problem.

Indeed! Now we just need a bunch of engineers and an array of globally positioned super-efficient rocket engines to slow down the spin of the Earth. I'm sure the kickstarter crowd funding will be a great success when we tell the masses they will get more hours to their days.
