  1. 'Night. I am having trouble with my readables - again. Some of them display their text, some don't. The XD file bits are set up identically. The entities in the map are set up identically. The console returns the following error messages: non-existant xdata declaration num_pages not defined But the number of pages are defined and the xdata declaration is there. What the hell could be wrong? This is driving me mad. [edit] For what it's worth, here are the two readable segments. Is there anything wrong with them? Where?
  2. It makes sense that the pillar using that texture would produce a crash. Very interesting.
  3. Might be a good idea to check the others at the same time, then.
  4. Not a normal map issue, but stone/flat/smooth/tiling_1d/marble_trim01_brown produces crashes on some PCs, including Fidcal's and the one I am currently working on. I have no idea about the possible cause, but upon changing all instances of the texture into something else in my map, I experienced no further problems. It is possible that other similar textures exist; I got a crash at the beginning of Railgun's current beta mission. Other released missions work perfectly. The bug only affects some configuration; my home PC is free of it.
  5. Railgun: sure, I'd be happy to help with that.
  6. Really? I can vote for both TDM and The Nameless Mod? Great!
  7. Hm, I followed your suggestions on removing visportals; that did not stop crashes, only made them occur sooner. I wonder if it is models causing problems or architecture. I will need to experiment tomorrow, but it is getting too late for this. I am not happy about the thought of potentially having to nuke parts of my level to start over; hopefully it is something relatively small. :/
  8. Inexplicable crash-related question: 1) When I am testing my FM, it tends to crash when I look in a certain direction. 2) This error did not crop up on my home PC; now I am using another, with an ATI Radeon 1650 card. I disabled Catalyst A.I. since that produced problems for others, but to no avail. The full system config is: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ 2.81 GHz ATI Radeon 1650 2.00 GB RAM Running Windows XP, SP 3 3) Other fan missions run without a hitch. I suppose the problem may be related to either visportals or something being rendered that TDM doesn't like. What makes the whole thing suspicious that neither my home PC nor other fan missions have this issue. What could be the problem?
  9. So far, this has been the most enjoyable post-release mission for me: visually nice (loved the printer's workshop!), good gameplay and, what is very important in an FM, a proper use of background music to set mood.
  10. Well, but elemental crystals did not grow in common faucets in The Dark Project, nor I think in The Metal Age. Their abundant availability is more of a fan mission thing.
  11. To be fair, it would have been likely that he pawned off the more valuable pieces of loot he found (e.g. Lord Bafford's sceptre, the two mystic gems - these did not have a monetary value in vanilla TDP) and used the rest to buy equipment, which was understood to come at very steep prices for an independent.
  12. lostbuthappy: why would you need to locate your mission on an island? There is a very nice city skybox you could use! (As seen in The Chalice of Kings.)
  13. "Anal retentive" is not a bad designer trait. Now I've got to wrap my FM up, finish with the architecture already (there is still an area I must complete; the other one I planned will have to be skipped) and move on to the final stuff.
  14. Very impressive, Bikerdude! That's no beginner effort, that's already some way to Awesomeville.
  15. I've got about seven days between Christmas and New Year - that's for patrols, ambients, objectives, testing and maybe a few architectural extras. We'll see (said the blind man).
  16. Aha! That's useful to know. For the time being, though, I will stick with Bamberg; I could not make Gothica text look good in that context.
  17. Another day, another small issue: the two side-by-side pages are displayed differently. (Never mind the text, it is going to go through a revision - esp. since Gothica seems to have a problem with punctuation. My xdata file uses these font settings:
  18. I'll check this at home; 2 and 3 don't seem too likely.
  19. The footlocker fix works, so all is well on that front. Now, something else - one of my readables displays text when frobbed, but not in the world. The XD file includes the precache command, so it should work. Although it uses a different prefab than the ones that work, I am not seeing a difference. Is there something to look for in the editor OR the XD file?
  20. Liberties are needed, since ToH is a very think-outside-the-box-or-die kind of affair; much of it would not translate well to a computer game. Now if someone did Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan or something inspired by it - that would be something. BTW, a bit of odd technical trivia on Arkhyn (the demilich of CL): Dromed's full of mysteries.
  21. What a nice thing to see such an easy solution to a problem. Thank you!
