  1. I'll chime in here though it is a little late. I have an ssd (samsung evo 840) and 16 GiB ram in my laptop and a 5400 1 TB WD HD. I always thought I would at some time create a Ram Disc just because it's there. Then I found that Samsung have an app called Magician for there SSD's and with it is an option to use rapid mode. It uses 1GiB of system memory to speed up one SSD. I have not noticed any performance increase but no doubt if I took the time and tested it would probably be in the region of a fraction of a %. Go figure.
  2. @ Sprigheel, I played through on the break in and thought it was really cool. Brings back the nostalgia of being chased and having to knock out or kill AI. Maybe my setup is bugging out or more likely I am bugging out.
  3. Hay guy's I am officially jealous of all you DSL&Fibre users. That's on WIFI 4G in AUS and costs me $60 a month and is tapered to 64kb after 8GiB:( The government are rolling out fiber allegedly to everyone and the estate next to mine has it but I have to wait till some time in the next 3 years. No guesses as to whom (Politician) lives in the next estate.
  4. Finished on the first difficulty setting and the AI were all over me. Congratulations on an awesome mission Sprinheel. Now to try another difficulty:)
  5. Moonbo, Those pix look creepy and homely at the same time I think. I love cathedral like churches and monasteries, They look inviting for some reason, Like they warrant investigation and stealthy investigation at that:) Yours is no exception that's for sure.
  6. Sotha that is looking very cool and wet. I wanted to do something like this for any sewer or wet areas in my maps but could not work out how. I think there should be a prefab for it.
  7. This is a fantastic idea Orbsttote and I love it. Lux means an add on card or a separate sound card from the one on the Motherboard. Either a usb or pci/pcie sound card, Or just a suggestion- good quality usb headsets with built in microphones usually use their own built in sound processors and are of high quality and maybe would allow you to keep your hands free. PS. Congratulations:)
  8. I'm hesitant to edit the info_location entities in my WIP. If I do will they need to be edited from .014 and set back to 1.0 when 2.02 is released?
  9. HAHAHA. Perfect. Looking forward to your release Goldwell. I'm working on my second mission titled Solarescape2 and I think......No, I know I've bitten off more than I can chew. I have placed a func_fracture as a piece of a breakable ice shelf and I thought it would be OK as I just converted a worldspawn piece but.... When it is destroyed by the player hitting it with the sword it shatters into a heap of pieces and sounds like glass shattering which is OK but the frame rate drops to like 2 or 3 FPS. Any Kind heart out there like to help me with this?
  10. Just a heads up for the more advanced development and creative members who frequent this forum. Epic are hiring and I think some of you would be more than appreciated in their family. http://epicgames.com/careers/ If anyone applies Good luck:)
  11. Congratulations greyman and to all the contributors. All I can say is WOW..... Hands down one of my favorite missions of all in TDM. Loved the story telling and atmosphere. A most excellent 3rd installment. I held off playing until I finished THIEF the game. I prefer the raw stealth of TDM and Clieghmoor brings it in spades:)
  12. Congratulations on a very fine mission. One that brought back much nostalgia for The Metal Age. It's definitly a classic.
  13. Greetings people, I'm going to start on my map again soon bit by bit as I've been so busy the last 6 months and I've got a new system yeah:) I have to chime in on this mission as it's very creepy. The atmosphare is incredibly good and had me on the edge of my seat for almost the whole playthrough. I lucked out on the . There is some z fighting at the bottom of a door entrance but nothing major and has probably been brought up in a previous post. I must congratulate you guy's for the puzzles and atmosphere but must also so agree with others that it is too short. Thanks for the mission.COOL and CREEPY.
  14. Oh People, I look forward to playing this mission jesps. From what I have read so far this is going to be an epic night for me. I just installed Xcom... I know late but the install took so long and it's ready now to play but I thought I would have a look online at my favorite site While it was installing and your release was here so I Know Xcom will wait till I spend some time playing Flakebridge Monastery . I will post what I think and my opinions when I finish. Starting down load Now and thank all for your thought, Intellect, Creativity and Abilities:) They far out way many and should be nurtured and inspired.
  15. Hey guy's, There are some differences in core architecture and driver development for those core platforms. Firstly I have owned many ATI, ATI/AMD, and Nivida Cards in the past and Nvidia always were a little bit better with driver development and performance. Having said that The ATI/AMD 4870X2 I had was killer but had problems with cross fire for ages like a year or so and still suffers from micro stutter in crossfire mode, But the drivers have improved heaps over the last couple years. I'm still running a GTX 470 SOC from Nvidia as this doesn't suffer from micro stutter nearly as bad. ATI/AMD are looking more appealing to me now because of their driver support being heaps better these days and there performance\Dollar in the mid to high end range is slightly better than Nvidia at the moment. ATI/AMD are developing mantle which if adopted by software developers will bring performance benefits (assuming it is not released for others to use) on their architecture. Nvidia have announced a new tech their calling G-sync which if hardware manufactures adopt it, will lead to V-sync technology being thrown out all together. As V-sync is a bygone tech carried over from the CRT (cathode ray tube) era of display technology I would say it looks very interesting and promising. I'm looking into getting a laptop and the only real problem I have now is what card/cards to put in it ATI/AMD or Nvidia. I would say at the mid\high end go ATI/AMD they have better bundles as well with games and such. At the high end nothing at the moment beats an Nvidia titan for single card performance.
  16. Thanks Moonbo I have not read your answer yet, Just the hint. I think it's all the verbs messing me up:
