I'd love to get involved with this conversation but I get too pissed off about unnecessary death. However, i will say a few things related to all this. Focusing on particular incidents involved with the wars in like focusing on that fact that the AIDS you've got is creating unsightly dry skin. We need to focus on the foundational causes of our problems. We need to shift to electoral processes which don't naturally filter out qualities such as humility and our leader need to know that we'd rather have our economy's slow down a little (or a lot) than make, or even risk wars which help put whole countries back into the stone ages, puting more people in the position to take a paid position in an anti-western militia. The U.N. needs to send a clear message to Muslims, in the same vein as the "just say NO to drugs" campaign, that you should never harm a single fucking hair on someones head in the name of your religion until you've seen and heard your God. A message that should be disseminated within any peaceful nation by their government. We need to be pro-actively peaceful and at the very least, foster communication. When someone like Bush says, I don't want to communicate with hostile nations, we need to say, wrong dumb shit, thats your fucking job, NOW GET TO IT! Its going to take 5 young, brainwashed Muslims and some lightly guarded, Russian uranium in transport to one of their many plants to take out New York. I'll be watching TV, furiously from my couch, I hope it helps.
  2. It makes sense that you would go right to the area on your person where the keys are for example and wouldn't go "flashbomb?, no. Telescope? um no. Mine? Nope. Surely the compass? no.... But to keep the game easy to use for new players, i think the system should be optional and default [for now] with the previous option. Thinking out loud: I'd love to eventually see someone implement this in 3d. IE, when you switched to a lockpick, your right arm would up and into view with your hand making a fist, the other hand would slip the lockpick out out a band on the underside of your forearm and as soon as the hands went back down you could use it. And [yes im using and at the start of a sentence, i don't agree with our goofy conventions] when you switched to the compass, your hand would come put grasping an attractive looking 3d model which reacted to shadows. And when you needed to grab something large, you quickly shifted a rucksack around to the front and looked down into it, seeing the items in the bag which you simply clicked on to use, etc. And when you selected keys, your left hand came up and release a roll of padded fabric down your arm with key in bands that you could scroll with the mouse wheel. That would take a lot of work.
  3. By music, i mean the "ambient music". Anything thats not of the "world" your in. In games [read: AAA games, the ones you buy in the store...], its sometimes subject to a dedicated "ambient music volume" slider, but its ALWAYS subject to a "music volume" slider. This, im sure, is for people like myself who want to get "into" the game "world" as much as possible and aren't so impressed by cheap theatrics[my opinion].
  4. Hmm, is it correct that the location of the model_src folder is in the models folder?
  5. I kinda lost interest there for awhile since i didn't want to take any of the spotlight off the "what are you working on" thread, but i think that can be remedied by putting a link in the first lines of the screenshot thread.
  6. I see an ambient slider, but no music volume slider and it doesn't do anything for me while i've been beta testing. Bummer.
  7. I was going to suggest people put anything they want to show off. Memories from older games, fan missions, upcoming games, other mods, etc. In which case, maybe the Off-topic forum is better.
  8. 53 Views 3 votes...hmm, no ones else has an opinion?
  9. Music is so subjective, thats why I wish we had a music volume slider in TDM and probably explains why AAA developers have put music volume sliders in 100% of the 50ish games i've played except for Doom 3, which has no music outside of cutscenes...
  10. Ok, i uploaded those mentioned. The A folder can be deleted, which i'll do when im done updating.
  11. I'll upload that to. I'll post when i upload.
  12. Spoilers vs. fostering discussion, creating interest, drawing in new players.
  13. Oh, putting them in Darkmod\a was my mistake. About the error, which version of Maya are you using? If its lower than 2010, I'll have to upload .ma's. I guess i'll do that actually.
  14. I uploaded the throw and overwrote the previous version since i've tested this version and its far more realistic. I had held off since i was thinking about making some "celebrate"/"curse" animations for the code to occasionally play when the Ai successfully hit/missed the player, and also pondering doing a full body motion, lifting up the leading leg a little, but now i think that could create some clipping so i'm holding off. As far as the others, I keep seeing things i want to improve, so i'll have these ready before 1.04.
  15. and fine on my Vista 64 machine.
  16. Metro 2033 is now on sale for $10, down from 50.
  17. Yeah, those are the new post-processing effects. I also had the gamma and brightness sliders up a little more than usual when i played through sotc, so thats a factor as well in the first pic.
  18. This isn't exactly the right place, but i wanted to post these shots i took of 1.03 tonight while testing. From Somewhere above the City From Flakebridge
