  1. If a crusader for digital privacy is as gallant as he wants to appear, what prevents him from facing the issue face to face like David Frost? Where's the anti-establishment credibility for a person that runs under the shadow of your nearest dictatorship? Victimization, obscurantism and lack of vision is what plagues them all. This is really all but a question of privacy v. security.
  2. Snowden is a traitor that has to be judged for his crimes and involvement with Wikileaks.
  3. The coolest move with free games was with GOG though. From the very start you get all the free games you can get without having to browse through all of the ones on the store. It feels much more inviting and friendly. Which is an experience more alienating vis-a-vis Steam.
  4. What are the latest stats on TDM if I can ask?
  5. Sending a PM will notify him through E-mail.
  6. Atm it shouldn't be too complicated to use the info provided here and some tweaks I found on the wiki regarding performance. http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Performance_Tweaks I'll apply them these days hopefully to test. It's not a life or death situation either. I have a desktop PC, but it's not always available, and why not eventually have it run on a laptop? It's playable, yet not perfect as weak PC's often whine.
  7. Tried right now. Still the same thing. No performance increase, at least not visibly evident.
  8. Tried them now. FPS change isn't too great. Maybe 2-3 points better. But still great stuttering and lags. The problem needs a much more systematic approach. But thanks for the help. The FBO fix duzenko proposed isn't in Darkmod.cfg. But I think everyone noticed by now its absence in 2.05.
  9. Duzenko, I'll try your fix next week and let you know how it goes. The aim isn't to get amazing FPS or anything. Around 30 FPS, in hard, performance intensive situations is just fine! I wonder how much the FPS cap plays into it.
  10. Worthwhile to add another TTLG source here, permissions to use it can be asked if the author answers: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121785 And some peaks for what's it all about:
  11. As far as I saw, particles were introduced in 2.03. More info here: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Particles What we don't know is how high up in the priority list such changes for option customizations are for the team. We saw how slow, unpredictable and difficult any ETA is for releasing future patches in reasonably defined timelines can prove to be.
  12. Do you mean in regards to more fixes for low perf. PC's? I haven't changed anything yet. I will start to check out duzenko's advice further next week: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B82Nuxua9A8DLVIxMVFqdDFMQWc/view?usp=sharing
  13. I think it's logical. All are part of ambient sounds. I.e. Not relating to the Npc's, voices, dialogues, player monologue.
  14. Yep, the TaffersInn channel on YouTube has them all in a convenient playlist. The video I sent is also part of that.
  15. A very valid point as well. The issue is not to underestimate it, such as the case with Mount & Blade would be. Makes the game seem more like a mod and less confident. I'm probably very subjective on this, but I felt it was always important not to have prolongued silences as Half Life liked to get the player into (unless there's a good reason).
  16. If anything TDM underuses it in too many FM's. It's especially underlined in early ones such as The Parcel. I'm certain in the long run that the default introduction mission should make use of all tools available to increase immersion. It should compensate for the lack of EAX sound design wise.
  17. Yes, just updated to 2.05. It says on the ticket "Intel Dual Core B830 1.8 Ghz. It's an "X301A Asus". I presume the only solution than is to find time to manually configure and remove particles. Are there any plans to make extreme low settings like these available in the game settings? For low perf. PC's they look quite limited (at least if making the game available to those PC's is in plans at all).
  18. 100% behind that. Simply well balanced music does the job. As the first mission seeks to take example from Thief Deadly Shadows, there's that naturally for inspiration. It wasn't loud or obnoxious. It was minimalistic and casual for a casual night:
  19. Some impressions on the first mission: before going full speed in Steam when TDM gets greenlit - the mission needs to have some ambient music. Not necessarily beefy custom ambient. Default ones will do, but the emptyness has to be filled with something properly dignified!
  20. I want to share my DxDiag for the laptop I find myself using more often. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B82Nuxua9A8Dd216bmVPeDhUYkk/view?usp=sharing Performance in TDM, even after 2.05 is pretty crap. I was thinking to remove any FPS cap to help it. Real problems surface with particles and things like that. What was the catch with the perforamance boosters planned for 2.05? How many people feel it had a significant outcome for them? The wiki has helpful customization to manually do the sunrise and get the settings down for low performance PC's, but I wonder if I'm missing something. Games such as Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines ran quite decently and this isn't a PC that old, especially Doom 3 engine wise. Not expecting amazing horsepower, but still, 10 FPS at any scene with particles?
  21. Is St. Lucia and St Lucia 2 (as in a continuation of the first mission) supposed to be both available in the mission selector after the 2.05 update? Or is this a legacy of 2.04?
  22. Even without greenlight lots of crap or non working games get on Steam bypassing GL. Nothing shameful in GL. The real hurdle will be the communication on how TDM will be featured on Steam after GL.
