  1. It's very nice, very well structured in layers for a swift but pleasant experience.
  2. The regular ambient blue demonstrates why to many Thief 4's design of the city came to appear less enigmatic than Thief DS's Overlook Mansion or Rutherford Castle.
  3. Word of warning. For me and many others installing Windows 10 is impossible through the GWX Control Panel. There is some issue with Windows updater that doesn't allow to finish the update and so it will revert back to Windows 8 or 7. If anyone decides for themself to switch at the end to Win 10 - do it with an external usb drive with the installer on that device. That is the only working solution I found. Nothing else works. It may be different for you. But better save yourself the stress.
  4. Good answer Charisma. Couldn't have wrote it better myself. Problems took over, so all I did was a simplified version, which hopefully will get into the next version of the game. There is no excuse for me.
  5. As an alternative for a work computer, is it a good idea to use Linux? I used only Windows for my entire life starting from 95, used to Microsoft Word 2003, but I don't mind using freeware OS for the future if it's safer from more points of view. Obviously Linux isn't perfect for gaming - but as a second option after Windows, is it worth it just for document work, typing?
  6. Oh you mean But really, it's hard to take the trailer very seriously because the levels in SS 1 were pretty large and the game had more of this kind of music: Also, love the intro in SS1. Nothing won't ever replace that. SS2 absolutely changed the feel: On PC it's almost impossible to play SS1, especially now but it was cool while it lasted I guess.
  7. Same with some Romanian characters. The same problem was encountered by the Russian translation team (but they found a way to change the code). Far as I understand, if they don't exist in the font the game uses, we are better off to use some equivalent of the english keyboard. If you can combine some letters to make them sound appropriately. For example Ș in romanian I replaced with sh or simply s (because the person who knows romanian already knows that I mean ș with s). The game simply doesn't read characters like â, ă, î, ț et cetera... I hope you understand. Reviewing the font code the game uses is a lot of work, not sure if anyone is ready or capable of doing it at the moment. Until then, better to use the placeholder english letters instead of the national Turkish alphabet.
  8. Yes that's what I meant teh_saccade. Very thoughtful posts.
  9. The teen concept art is very, very good! Is it possible to make it more gothic? Most people will probably like a low fantasy/dark fantasy style contrary to the brighter version you presented. Did you try some vignette-like effects?
  10. Thief 3 allowed something like this. Do not know how realistic it is.
  11. Sorry if I offended someone. It wasn't my intention. I meant that it was fun to throw around ragdolls in-game, not suicides. I suppose it makes sense that 70-80% of a lot of effects, sounds, are just well edited pieces conveniently well placed in motion pictures and games. As always a careful balance of realism and the most appropriate choice for the game itself is the preferable option. The Dark Mod as the subject at hand was never a Hollywood-like, big buget, AAA project - my point being plainly that if the sound is not overdone, but a little enhanced (for the purpose of the experience being better overall) it's alright.
  12. I also have to admit a satisfaction in that. Don't know how Hollywood would make it but in real life it's something like this:
  13. I'm totally for the new sounds. Just a question: did you change the sounds for dirt and/or snow as you showed a while ago?
  14. Yes, your work is very convincing.
  15. Yeah it's disappointing. Half Life is of course just an ordinary action game but there were really some great ideas, especially in the second game. Very obnoxious and suspicious of Valve to delay finishing this series. The suspense reaches only frustration for those people who genuinely wanted to see Half Life 3/ Half Life 2: Episode 3 (whichever thesis seems more likely to you). To me eye-opening were the opinions stated by a very clever, albeit now deceased reviewer: But mainly people hated him for this:
  16. I can't believe India got to this:
  17. If they are Alert they probably won't be knockable from any direction since they are ready for combat already and it defies the logic. The only desireable feature is to be able to knock them out from the back if they are Alert (presumably to encourage a moment of surprise and a second chance for the hard work during all the sneaking a player does) - but again if the in-game logic already has an explanation against that then I'm fine with it. The thief isn't supposed to be that strong either way. He can't have a chance against battle-hardened thugs. Let's just say that when they are Alert they expect you to hit from behind too - that's where the training went at!
  18. To settle on some middle ground in this - the way blinded AI works now when Alert is not perfect but is definately much more logical than AI choking from Moss Arrows like in Thief Deadly Shadows as Springheel mentioned earlier some time ago. In the perfect case scenario the AI would have a million animations for each combat situation like Batman. But in real life a hit in the back of the head is 80% likely to kill you likewise. Consecutively the Hollywood flick with beautifully synchronised choreographic KO's is a myth. Simply because the human skull is the weakest on the flanks and especially in the back. This is a very interesting debate however.
  19. My country's screwed.

Canada lucked into a good deal. I remember back in college (1996) a Moldovan guy volunteered with us on a US campaign. He was probably the first East European I'd ever met. Not sure he understood anything going on, but at least he was really into it. I take it that early fascination with open democracy didn't last. =L

Well, it didn't work. We had a war in 1992 and everyone who isn't lazy takes a piece off of this country whenever they want since "independence".

We experience the phoenomenon of a "captured state".

And you're right, since 1991 half of the population emigrated this republic.

  20. On PC? I'm lucky if I know how turn on and off a DOS machine anymore!
