  1. Downloading through custom European mirror helped download speed a lot. Half an hour and it's done. I made a separate .torrent tracker. Please confirm if .torrent file works. We can greatly reduce the load on TDM mirror servers by having the community host .torrents. AFAIK you can make a tracker-less torrent if you want through a magnet link that will find any peers on that torrent by accessing the DHT. But I never used this option. Thank you in advance. TDM.torrent
  2. I like the current TDM logo but it just needs to be more high definition. No changes needed. Reminds me of the cool red glow from Prince of Persia Warrior Within
  3. I think that NATO expansion is a legit right under international law and all that jazz but we all know that new NATO members aren't worth much and their military is busier with siphoning off funds and embezzlement rather than providing security. https://www.reuters.com/markets/commodities/romanian-prosecutors-investigate-diesel-theft-us-military-base-2021-11-24/ The coalition of the willing included NATO members but non-NATO countries also provided troops for Iraq. Other pro-US military missions like KFOR in Kosovo include non-NATO countries. You don't need to be a member to help the US. NATO is just a formalization of those efforts. In general I didn't read much on military alliances and neutrality. I saw authors criticize neutral countries because few countries are genuinely neutral. Ireland, Serbia, Japan are supposed to be neutral but they are aligned either with the US or Russia. Perfect Swiss neutrality is impossible for most countries because they aren't home to dirty bank money and they didn't have hundreds of years of stability to build up armies. Additionally neutral countries seem not to have much luck in joining the EU in Europe because the 1993 Copenhagen criteria for EU membership presume that there is security to maintain stable institutions. Under any interpretation, just facts: the majority of EU members states are also NATO members. Meanwhile another fact is that no new EU member states from the former socialist, communist USSR countries have not become EU countries until they joined NATO. So countries like mine such as the Republic of Moldova have no chances at the moment as long as we're neutral is seems. Though this is completely bullshit and against peace and détente of which I'm a big fan of. At the same but it seems that the future behind perfect true peace and stability is not having military like Costa Rica. There might be democracy behind pepole voting to join NATO and sending their money to bomb far away countries but the best war that we ever had is the one that we could avoid. Democracy is simply the lesser evil among the other forms of government.
  4. Yes, itțs a fresh install. Indeed the only seed is thedarkmod.blob.core.windows.net:0. And it's in the US whereas I'm in Europe. I think that explains the slow speed. But at least I can see download speed and a realistic ETA. Thank you! Does this method create registry files in regedit btw? If so, maybe we could create a torrent which allows multiple seeders so that people don't get discouraged by the slow download speed. For some reason I thought it existed already. Sharing is caring.
  5. I think it's better to rush it than to procrastinate because there is no limit to perfection and it bogs everything down until it's never finished. You'll return later to polish it or you can let someone else do it and you may just approve the changes or modify, reject them as you please. The most painful is when something is left unfinished and it's never released IMHO.
  6. Download speed is so slow. Does anyone have a .torrent with seeds? Downloading about 2-3 hours and it says I need to wait another 17 hours. Does it pick up on where it left or it starts over if I stop downloading?
  7. A better training mission - I think we should keep the current tutorial but itțs kind of too punishing and has too much text. I mean we have Deus Ex kind of training where the tutorial isn't really a big part of the story. Same with the Half Life 1 training room and the System Shock 2 tutorial. In general even AAA games regularly mess up tutorials all the time. Thief 1, on the contrary had a good tutorial. Thief 2 and Deadly Shadows not so much, even if the first mission in Deadly Shadows was so atmospheric. But the tutorial in Deadly Shadows was better than Thief 2 because it was more forgiving at least. The problem of Thief 2 and 3 is how much they focused on text in their tutorials. Same problems with text reproduced in TDM unfortunately. Consequences of TDM's average tutorial: After a lot playing a lot TDM, I didn't know that by holding a button you can pick up bodies like in Thief and not just drag them. Didn't find that in the tutorial. I've either read this info in the forum or it was just a loading tool tip. TLDR I think TDM should have at least voice overs of tutorial tips and not just books with walls of text. We can already read texts on the wiki and the forum. Old video but sums up the things to pay attention to. I agree that Portal had great training. Valid until today:
  8. Anonymous says that cancelling russia is going to make people more radical not less. Also its complete hypocrisy 33m Do you agree? I think that cumsoomers never decide for themselves. When you have to rely only on cumsoomers making the choice to support a cause that means that this cause has no future. Russia also has only 1.5 anonymous who will buy video games. Everybody else pirates things. So they don't really matter. I don't think that cancelling, ban-hammers make people more radical. It's a peaceful method. The best way to end flame wars is to shut up the aggressor. Nobody's going to die from that. Life teaches ppl what is right and wrong, what is truth and what is a lie. I don't possibly see how this can get any more radical within reasonable limits. The next level is only mercenaries, PMC and such. No-fly zones means nuclear war probably and all that jazz. So nothing to lose at this point. The wave of sanctions must continue.
  9. Our ancestors were just scavengers. We were never a hunter society at least until we entered the Stone Age or the Bronze Age with better equipment. Monkeys are animals too noble to be compared to humans. We are pathetic.
  10. Ukraine renounced it's non-aligned status and abrogated it from the Constitution. Just like Belarus today decides to remove its neutral status. None of this is an excuse to start a war ofc. Just like attacking Iraq for theoretical nuclear weapons is not an excuse.
  11. It's great that Ukraine didn't lose instantly but any war is profit for those who sell arms and heaven for human trafficking. There are no winners.
  12. Works with Thief. We can get used to anything.
  13. Now it'll be double penetration of Ukraine or something. Idk I'm a virgin. More money will be dumped into another black hole of war.
  14. Does anyone know why is Arial lawful neutral and Cambria is true neutral? Other alignment chart memes put Times New Roman as true neutral. The problem with Times New Roman is that it was made for typewriters and it doesn't look that great on digital monitors. The least one could do is write in Times New Roman at font 14.
  15. Lately I became obsessed with Open source apps which are kept up to date and to customize them to my use. To this end I thought it was long time overdue to replace MS word with Libre Office Writer because I just can't keep up with the new versions and I'm tired of looking for cracks. A big advantage is how compatible Libre Office is with usual MS files. However, I really wanted to make a proper dark theme work. Atm can't seem to find how to make the toolbars in proper contrast mode. Right now they seem to be in this ugly color where you have the toolbars at the top to be of almost the same gray color as the font they are written in. Is anyone tech savvy enough to figure it out? Nobody on Google doesn't seem to have the same problem as me. Update: Found the solution. Just undo this https://www.makeuseof.com/how-to-set-up-libreoffice-writer-like-microsoft-word/ It can be uncomfortable to switch to a standard Toolbar after gettingused to Microsoft's sleek Ribbon menus. But you can use ribbons inOffice Writer, too! Go to View > User Interface and select Tabbed. Then click Apply to Writer. So basically revert back to standard toolbar. Problem fixed.
  16. Not exactly groundbreaking AAA but a very cool looking latin american Fallout mod - Fallout Nuevo Mexico.
  17. Of all the console features I loved the checkpoint save systems in games. That way, a sort of autosave system allows not to break immersion when everything is good, but also allows you to stay focused. But only if checkpoints can be often found and if it doesn't make the game stutter or freeze. Safe save points are ok too and they could be part of the checkpoint save system. But for those who are not as masochistic as me, simple autosaves and manual saves are just fine. Especially when you don't want kinky hardcore stuff. When you have lots of things to do AFK.
  18. Anderson

    Gloomwood

Coming along nicely. Finally we have more classic-esque games that aren't just Doom and Quake all over the place.
  19. Just buy it online in a poor Eastern European country and have it delivered by mail.
