  1. Excellent work as usual. Hah yeah I saw the veins on the hand too and thought damn that's nice.

    Boiler Bot

Finally got all moved and settled in. Just got internet again too. and then I start school in two days so I'll see how the work load is gonna look in a bit heh.

    Boiler Bot

Damn I remember reading a huge discussion on CGTalk forums about how something just like this would walk properly but it was a long while ago and I forget it all heh. Not too sure if I could find it. I'm also disconnecting my internet tonight because I'm moving back into a dorm for the year tomorrow. Been really busy with packing and getting ready so I haven't had time to do much of anything lately.
  4. Looks awesome. I can't watch half of the .movs that are posted, I guess because I don't have the right codecs or whatever. But I just save them and watch with windows media player heh.

This is looking great so far. I think what oddity said about the neck tube being thicker is a good idea as well.
  6. Re-did the sidestep more like how you wanted it I think. The old one is still up on my original post as well as this new one. Side Step v2 (new)
  7. Hmm I sent it by e-mail through the message board. Just by clicking on your board profile and clicking send e-mail since I couldn't find your e-mail address anywhere.
  8. Ok I'll make the changes to that animation as well as some of the other ones that I'm behind on. And I actually just sent sparhawk my key thing for CVS so we'll see if I can figure it all out eventually heh.
  9. Heyya. I've finished a few more animations and I added them to my first post in this thread a few days ago too. (The quick sidestep/dodge animation and then the simple combat stance loop) CVS is still looking pretty crazy to me heh. I'll look harder into it tomorrow though.
  10. Lookin great as always. I like the black & white tunic better too.
  11. Corth - Hmm I'm not sure what you mean by snapping but I think you're talking about how his weight is shifting. It does look choppy in some parts yeah. but his feet never leave the ground in these ones. What he's doing is comfortabley resting all his weight onto one leg that is straight while the other leg is a bit limp and slightly bent (but still connected to the ground). His pelvis rotates from one side to the other as he shifts weight, and this is where it looks kinda snappy since the straightened leg bends and the bent leg straightens in order to follow the pelvis bone. But both feet are planted during this whole little process. I'm not sure if this is what you were referring to though. I'll tweak the failed KO one. It does look a bit odd now that you pointed that out. I'll take out the little step in the hand on hip animation and see how it looks as well. Thanks for the comments and everything.
  12. Sparkhawk/Oddity - Yes the current glanceback animation is one where he'd get put into alert mode because he noticed something or saw the thief. I just quickly threw together a calm glancing back animation though, and he looks back for a few seconds then just returns back to his normal pose ("Eh must have just been the wind" type thing). Added it to my first post. Yeah I never really noticed how he should probably grab his head at some point after the little stumble maybe heh. I'll fool around with it after and see how it goes.
  13. I was also wondering how the animations with props will work. Do I need to animate a dummy object in place of where the prop/weapon will go? (for the throw, weapon animations)
  14. I'm not too sure about how these types of shoulder pads connect to the breastplate, but I just started animating them as if they were pretty loose. Not hard to fix if it's a problem. I've only really added their animation into the cough clip so far anyway (which I just updated btw)

    Spider Concept

I've never even animated a non bipedal character so I'm no expert but the walk cycle looks a bit odd to me. The head section looks totally stiff like it's moving forward by itself unaffacted by the legs. If you took out the ground beneath him it would look like it could be a flying spider animation as well heh. I think it's because there's no real weight bearing poses maybe? But I'm not sure how that'd work really since spiders dont have much weight and are really strong as well. But also, the two front legs look like they're mostly just sliding outward to the side. Like I said though, I don't know much about animating character with more than 2 legs, and I am certainly no expert on spider walks so I could be wrong about this all. Damn thinking about it now, animating something with 8 legs must be hard as hell. I think I remember liking the spider from lotr, but I have a horrible memory. Maybe a good idea to check it out though.
  16. Great crits so far. Taking down notes heh. About the compression, I really dont have much experience dealing with compression besides using Cleaner XL a tiny bit. I don't even really know of any other compression programs. I'm eventually going to learn more about it and find myself a decent compression program for sure and not just a trial. But I've actually just been rendering the clips at a much lower quality now and it's like 1/4 of the previous size Too bad I never thought that earlier. I'll upload the smaller versions and edit my original post, and then I'll get to work on all the animation editing right after. update: k I directed all the original clip links to the smaller sized versions. Can't believe I never thought to just render them out at a lower quality. Sorry about that. Anyway I can clearly see pretty much everything you guys pointed out plus a lot more. I'm not happy with any of them anymore except for maybe one or two. It helps so much to look back at all the animations after a few days of not seeing them. I can pick out so many more problems now. Gah. ah well I'll get to fixing it all up.
  17. Awesome crits, thanks. Exactly what I was waiting for. I'll get to work on it all either tonight or tomorrow. And yeah, I wont mess with the camera anymore. I thought the white background would be a good thing though because it might be easier to see the silhouettes. I'll make the clips black background from now on though. I'll set the material to 100% self illumination too, that'd probably help. I'm still having trouble logging in here for some reason. Almost all of yesterday I wasn't able to log in. I don't get any error message or anything, it just doesn't log me in. Getting frustrating when I need to check stuff and can't log in. I got lucky this time though. It probably has something to do with Norton. Damn you Norton.
  18. Updated the failed blackjack KO animation. I think I'm almost done with it. Anything look incorrect? Some of it still looks stiff to me but I'll fix it up. I wish I had cleaner XL or something so I could compress em and they wouldn't take so long for people to load and see. Ah well.
  19. Heyya. How exactly does this change the animation in-game? I'm not too familiar with transferring animations into a game engine. Basically in-game it will just keep the feet planted for the frames that you specified when making the animation, Or is there more to it? Walk cycle sketches like this are still helpful references for when things like the passing points of the legs and the joint rotations like hips, knees and ankles occur (although I can't really remember the exact sketches and the images seem to no longer be working). I always have pics like them handy when doing walk/run cycles.
  20. Ok FTP problem fixed and I uploaded the animations with the colormaps on them, and re-directed all the links in my first post. edit: fixed the link to the face scratch animation
  21. Thanks oddity. Yeah the chest brush one was exactly what I spent a while tweaking last night. Fixed it up and it's pretty much done but I think there's still something about it that bugs me. I'll get back to it in a few minutes. I'll try to get the updated ones on the FTP once I figure out what the problem is
  22. I sent some of the animations earlier and the E-mail couldn't send because "The user(s) account is temporarily over quota." God really must not want anyone to see these little animations heh. I'll make a post in the dev forum and try to figure out whats up with my FTP problem though.
  23. Tweaked some of the animations a bit and they also look a lot better with the nice color maps on But I got Smart FTP and I'm still unable to connect for some reason. It just times out. I've been having some weird problems lately though and I'm assuming it's gotta be something to do with my internet connection settings. I'm not using them but I do have Norton firewall and internet security. I tried disabling everything in Norton but still no worky. And for most of yesterday I wasn't able to log in here and even when I was I still couldn't post because it said I didn't have permission or something. Computers drive me crazy. edit: Is there a specific port I need to enter when I connect to the FTP server?
  24. Hmm I can't seem to connect to the FTP server. (Using IE) the login screen pops up and I put in all the info and then it just sits at "searching for items..." forever.
