  1. Just played this on Expert, and enjoyed it!  But I found that the loot

    Spoiler

in the safe underneath the pulpit in the chapel

cannot be frobbed, even after the safe is opened.  Is that intentional (because of who it belonged to), or is it a possible bug?

Update: I tried dragging a vase from the safe with the sword from an unconscious guard, and even on the floor of the chapel the vase was unfrobbable.  So I reloaded, and after opening and closing the safe door several times, the contents suddenly became frobbable. There seems to be an issue here.

  2. Thank you for this mission, which I've enjoyed playing, on Expert.  I've completed all the main objectives, and done all the good deeds.  But despite revisiting all the areas I know about, I'm stuck on 3,976 loot - apparently there's 4,721 in total, and I'd like to get to at least 4K for the optional objective if I can.

    I can recall finding:

    Spoiler

    1. A ring on a skeleton and a chest in a spider cave in the pagan area.

    2. Coinstacks in a store room in the cathedral, above and behind some shelves, hidden by bales.

    3. A cash box on top of a bed in the apartments area.

Any hints for other stashes I may have missed please?

A couple of small gripes.  There doesn't seem to be a key for the bishop's room in the cathedral, and it's a bit of a drag having to revisit it each time

    Spoiler

via the ducts and without a map

in order to progress or revisit the pagan area.  Also, in the caves after getting

    Spoiler

    the buck

there are some crevices that are narrower at the bottom than further up, and look like you might be able to get through them if you jump up and over.  It's possible to get stuck in at least one of these.

For future reference. In UK English. Threepenny is pronounced Throoppenny. Wierd I know.

Whereabouts, in Yorkshire perhaps?  I have lived in England all my life, mainly the east midlands, the north west and the south east, and everyone I know pronounces threepenny as threppenny, the double e being pronounced as a short e rather than a long e.  The UK has many accents for a relatively small place, so the pronounciation you suggest may exist, but is not the most common one.

  4. I too was puzzled by what to do with

    Spoiler

the pot of mushrooms. The "soup" was glowing but did not seem to be alight, so I assumed I had to light it.  I tried the available flames in fireplaces and torches, but wasn't surprised they did nothing because they were of the "supernatural" variety.

Eventually I stumbled on the solution, and was told to run, but wasn't sure where.  A new wine cellar appeared after I took the necklace, so I wondered if I needed to find a new exit,

    Spoiler

before realisining  the original exit was available again.

But none of this tipped me over into outright frustration; I thought it was a really good mission.  The only slight gripe I have is about the secret which Cambridge Spy's video shows at the starting place, and which is presumably inaccessible once the house has locked you in.  I think I found all the others.

  5. Great mission!  Can all the secrets be found before you take the necklace?  I ask because (on expert) there seems to be at least one that is only accessible after you take the necklace, namely

    Spoiler

a ring in the grid over the lava pit which appears in the room where you take the necklace.

Are there any others like that?

  6. I’ve just been playing Hidden Hands: The Anomaly v3 on Expert, using TDM v2.11.  I used the three runes to make the meteor fall onto the wooden platform and the character announced "Good, now I can plant the explosives".  I have explosives in my inventory with a 2 next to it.  According to a comment by the FM author, I should only have one.  The meteor highlights but I cannot attach the explosives to it, drop them, or do anything else with them.  Another player Mawerick, reported this same problem earlier in the FM forum thread.  Both Mawerick and I found that by replaying from before acquiring the explosives, we subsequently only acquired one explosive and it worked on the boulder.  But there seems to be an intermittent bug here, affecting only some players, and which even for those players only occurs on some run throughs and not others (with no change between run throughs in the version of TDM or the version of the FM they are using).  Another player, thebigh, commented that they once had a similar bug affecting Heart of St Mattis - somehow they ended up with two of the things for opening the sarcophagus and couldn't open it.  I noticed that in The Anomaly the explosives seem to be defined as a key, so maybe the issue is key-related.

  7. I went back and replayed from before acquiring the explosives, and this time I only got one explosive and it worked on the boulder.  But there is clearly an intermittant bug here, affecting only some players, and which only occurs on some run throughs and not others (with no change between run throughs in the version of TDM or the version of the FM they are using).

  8. Playing on Expert, TDM v2.11.  I used the three runes to make the meteor fall onto the wooden platform and the character has announced "Good, now I can plant the explosives".  I have 2 x explosives in my inventory.  The meteor highlights but I cannot seem to attach the explosives to it.  Am I doing something wrong?

Update: it seems another player Mawerick, reported this same problem on page 2 of this thread.  I searched on "explosives" before making my post, but for some reason nothing came up.  Anyway, like them, I have 2 explosives and cannot drop or use either of them.

  9. Rather than a complete restart, I loaded a save from before my entry into the hotel.  This time I entered the hotel, again before going to the mansion or church, but did so via the river side instead.  Having knocked everyone out in the hotel, I then went directly to the church.  Coates was there, with Griffin and the 2 body guards.  So the bug seems to be linked with the hotel entry method is some way.

it sounds like he didn't spawn - I'm guessing this is a bug although nobody experienced it in beta.

Can you remember exactly how you entered the hotel?

      Reveal hidden contents

as for identifying him, he's wearing a red coat and red hat like it says in the briefing.

I was balcony hopping along the north side of the square and missed one, but landed instead on the ledge of one of the open arches above the hotel's front door.  That's how I got in.  I took a little damage, but since those arches have no windows or bars I assumed it was a legitimate means of entry.  There were two Coates' body guards in the hotel bar, but no Coates.  I only discovered later that you could enter the hotel from the river side.  I just returned now to the hotel to see if my subsequent entry into his mansion has triggered his appearence, but it has not.

  11. I have a problem.  Playing on Expert, I went to the hotel first.  I have done the optional objectives relating to Atkinson, Burns, and Sharpe.  I have 866 loot.  I'm still getting warning messages about entering the prison, although I have made some limited forays in there out of curiosity. I haven't found the combo for the hotel safe. But I can't seem to find Coates.  The first post indicates he should be

    Spoiler

    in the church

, but the only people in there are Griffin and two of Coates' bodyguards, all now unconscious.  I have also been to his mansion and, as I say, to the hotel, and he doesn't seem to be in any of those places either.  Is it me or is something wrong?

Hey Marbrien, I'm glad you like the mission! To clarify, do you mean...

      Hide contents

when you toss bodies down the Well in the Passage?

No.  I didn't put anyone down there except myself, with fatal consequnces!  I think both AI were in the 'normal' realm.  One was definitely the bald helmetless bearded man who patrols outside the mansion door near the starting point.  I dropped him on his plaform area and he 'floated' to the ground with his arms outstretched.  There is water all around that platform but I didn't put him in it at any time.  The other AI was, I think, a male servant in the mansion.  I could go back and see if I can find him if it helps.

Arby is the first one I mentioned.  In fact he only seems to behave that way if I drop him on the small wooden extension on the west side of his platform, he falls normally if dropped on the stone part or the other wooden part.  It's as if the wood isn't there and he has fallen into the water.

I haven't found the other AI yet - either that, or he is no longer exhibiting the floating behaviour.  But I have found the trophy in the chest that people have been discussing, and I too cannot frob it.

Another AI is Harold, a City Watch guy who patrols one area of the dockside. If I drop him on or very near the wooden cart where he patrols, he does the slow 'falling through water' thing.  Drop him anywhere else, and he falls normally.

  13. Fantastic mission, thank you very much.  I played on Expert.  I managed to

    Spoiler

take a submarine ride and then found a use for the various nether world items I had collected.

I had a couple of bodies of people I'd knocked out which, when I picked them up and dropped them, behaved like they were falling through water, even though they weren't. Other than that I don't recall any technical issues.  What a ride!

Thank you for a great FM!

I've done most of the mission (including bank and optional tasks). But..

      Reveal hidden contents

..it seems I'm missing something to get to Eaton manor (locked window, that I can't find a key for nor pick it) or St. Peter's Church (locked door on the left, after entering the church through balcony). Any hints how to proceed further? Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum!

If memory serves, the key to the Eaton manor windows is

    Spoiler

    in the Troutbeck workshop.

The other key is I think the crypt key, and I believe that is

    Spoiler

    in the Eaton manor.

If I have got that wrong, hopefully someone will put you right.
