  1. If we were creating a fan mission, I would say lets have character set submissions. For this part of the project though, we're creating a set of tools for people to make Thief style fan missions, and for that I really want the quality of the voice sets to have a uniform, professional sound. That's not to diminish anyone who was wanting to submit work, it's just that I have been preparing for this in advance. I have been auditioning experienced actors who are willing to donate their time to the project and will give us some wonderful characters. It will be recorded here in my home studio. In addition to all that, this is the only job I have on The Dark Mod.. I need something to keep me busy while I'm unemployed.
  2. Yup, just sent you a PM. I'll be doing all the Character voice sets so that we don't have different levels of quality. I've been auditioning actors and have some very good ones lined up. I'll have them in for a sound test next week for you all to hear.
  3. Yeah, that really looks awesome. Good job.
  4. Since the textures cost money would I be correct in assuming that gives us permission to use them in a mod? I don't think I would have a problem using the textures if they were modified, but to use them right out of the box might feel a bit like cheating to me. They look like beautiful texture sets though. I"ll have tot hink on it before I vote.
  5. Ahhh, glad to see you dropped in. It would be great to have you on board.
  6. As always Blackthief, beautiful work. I wish I could contribute in some way to the textures as well. Hopefully I can learn.
  7. Right on Renzatic! Lots of atmosphere in that shot.
  8. Wow, simply outstanding. That is simply the coolest. Good job Springheel.
  9. Now THAT'S the ticket!! I think that's the jackpot right there. I hope everyone agrees.
  10. I think the rear legs need to rest a little lower on the underside of the belcher.
  11. Puppy? *shudders* I wouldn't want to meet that thing.
  12. Wow, this is almost exactly how I pictured it. I put my pencil down in honor of you.
  13. Thanks god_is_my_goldfish, That works for me. I'm not very well versed in armor.
  14. I love it. I'm torn on the stripes like the others though. I think they look really great, but I'm not sure they work within the context of the game. Is it possible to work the red into other areas of their attire? Damn, I really hate to be critical of this. It's fantastic.
  15. Wow, they are quite amazing.
  16. I picture them having some kind of sack that inflates under their neck before they belch gas. Trying to draw it, but it's been many years.
  17. Very nice Springheel. That's what I was thinking too, I messed around in Photoshop....but I'm too rusty.
  18. VERY VERY NICE! You're doing an amazing job DeepOmega. It inspires me to get back into art. With the crap I draw now it's hard to believe that twelve years ago I could have gotten a job in the comics industry with a bit more honing of my craft. I really miss it.
  19. I sent a PM to S_HOLE, the guy who made the thief Retro menu. He says that he currently doesn't know how to make the menu in Doom 3 but he might be interested. We probably won't have to wait for him, since I think we can make any type of menu we want with the Built in GUI editor. I could be wrong on that one though, but it looks promising. I posted the list of Doom Tutorials in the Documentation section.
  20. Bingo, that's exactly what I was thinking. The points between the 4 main ones could be half the size. If it were slightly angled like you were saying, we would definately be in business. I posted a link in the documentation heading to a list of all the doom 3 world tutorials. There is one section in particular about the GUI editor that interested me. I'm going to take a look at it and see what else can be done with it. The author used it to replace the existing hud with the classic Doom hud. Pretty neat.
  21. I ditched the crystals idea and went back to the first idea I had several weeks ago. This was brought on by just now noticing the gem stone pictures in an earlier post. They inspired this.... I'm sure it could be dressed up to look much better than this. I just whipped this up in a few minutes, but it gets the idea accross. Like Springheel mentioned earlier, North is indicated by the red marker on the top of the sphere in a similar fashion to how they indicated North in Thief 1 and 2. The markers slide around the outside of the sphere. Now, imagine this with a true active light sphere and perhaps a tiny spike on top of each Navigation marker. It's basic, has features of both Legacy Thief and T3, but doesn't copy them exactly. Thoughts? Opinions?
  22. Yup, I should definately change my handle to the minimalist. I have another idea that involves the crystal, but I have to go grocery shopping first. I think you'll like this idea better. It's not as minimal, but it feels very organic.
  23. That is a very awesome design, but not quite in line with our design philosophy for the mod. I should really change my name to "The Minimalist" from New Horizon, but think "minimal" interface. If this thief were to really carry around a mystical light gem, I wonder if it would be some kind of rough cut stone laid into casing of some sort? Anyway, definately not shooting down what you did. It's gorgeous. Just trying to help fuel some other ideas. Okay, I just threw this together on top of Fingernails old test pic in about five minutes...but it might get the idea I had accross. Essentially just a crystal that rotates. The crystal would be angled inwards a bit so it actually points forward when you are facing north. The north end of the crystal would be pointy and the south end blunt. I didn't have time to do this so I just colored the north end a bluish green. I have another idea, but I won't get to work on that until later this evening. Thoughts?
