  1. Created the model on the map, opened up entity inspector, scolled down to the two boxes, in the top box typed.....climbable 0 bottom box typed.......123 (just to make it work) hit enter and the property is there but I can still climb over the fence in game, now I know I am doing it wrong as usual. Is there a list of properties somewhere like there was for dromed..sorry for being so thick. Made a large brush just in front of the fence and as high as the building next to it, textured it with player_clip and it works a treat.
  2. Thank you, I have got the fences from that folder so I'll add the property. Playerclip/clip I can certainly use in another area that I dont want the players to reach. So a big thank you to you both.
  3. Hi there, I need to block off an area so the player will never get there and want to use those nice spiked fences, how do I make them non-climable please..searching fence or fences gives the results for "fence" the guy you sell your gear too..naturally. Thank you.
  4. My mission in progress is called Ding Dong Bell (Garretts Down The Well), it was originally a DromEd map and then restarted into NewDark but that exceeded it's limitations too, and so I am now remapping into Dark Mod. It was a four part mission and I reckon each part will take about 8 months to complete...I'll keep you posted as to how it's coming along.
  5. Here are some screenshots of my work in progress mission, it started life as a dromed mission and then got restarted as a newdark mission but what I wanted out of it the old engine grumbled and shot itself. Dark mod has given this new life and I can stretch out what would have been an ongoing campaign set of missions into a proper storyline. Ok, these are five shots of the starting area which is a profitless slum, I still have the backs of a couple of buildings to do and a side area to fence off and of course put in the AI's but I am really pleased at what I have got so far with a great deal of help from Springheel's and Bikerdudes video's. By the way...why has my moon hacked itself to death?. Please note that these have been auto enhanced and are a little darker in game.
  6. I used a sealing box around the whole map, the light I used was Models>lights>non extinguishable>streetlight and under the + I selected lit....pitch black in world.....GAHHHH....while writing this I know what I did wrong...ENTITY, not Model....Sorry, I'll join the Monks.
  7. Sorry about this but I'm having another problem, I decided that I would now take the plunge and start mapping, I made a good start with prefabs and models and only used 1 brush, I then added an amdient light and a streetlight model that I used before that was pre lit, using F3 it showed the light was working but the alarm bells started ringing when I used light inspector and Omni was faded out, projected was selected but none of the functions in the right hand pane were usable. No prelit light source works in game.. do I throw the computer out of the window and become a monk?? or do I uninstall Dark Radiant and reinstall it?. Thanks Peeps.
  8. Thank you Judith, that did the trick...very quick I hadn't finished editing my mistake...Working now Thank You.
  9. When looking at models in the models folder when trying to choose which one to use they are showing up in green?..if I select them to use, lo and behold they are green in the 3D window but ok in game...what gives??. I think that they are func_static does that make a difference, It is very difficult to see what they are supposed to represent.
  10. Ok, did a quicky back to one of Springheels previous vids and foun ctrl+mmb...alls well.
  11. I have managed to lose my 3D camera view, is there a way to centre it back onto my working map instead of it looking away and straight up into the void with no amount of mouse movement shifting it please. Thank you.
  12. Great, Thank you. You really should post the full set of mappers guides as a sticky and all us newbie Dark modders should be made to follow it and make the map, It's brilliant AND I am fixing a lot of self made mistakes..one thong I am having to do is to stop my left hand index finger from holding shift while dragging a brush...an old Dromed habit. Cheers.
  13. Hi all, I'm busy going step by step through Springheels excellent video tutorials and making the map that he uses as an example, I have got to the part (lesson 5) where we copy the prefab of the hallway and save to the prefab folder, now when I do this I cannot find a folder that has all the prefabs in it to save it in..Springheel you make it look so easy.. but my installation of Dark Radiant is in C:games/darkradiant and my copy of DarkMod is in C:games/DarkMod, so my question is, how do I navigate to the Dark Radiant prefab folder please. TY.
  14. Thank you. I'll check that out this afternoon.
  15. When you place a stock model window, how do you light it, the ones that I have seen in some of the great fm's have yellow lit windows and if I use create light and resixe it and lowe it's brightness it looks plain awful...I have to go out but I am sure there is a Springheel video with just the right information...one that I have not found yet. TY.
  16. That's what I had in mind...BUT, running through your marvelous videos covering the modules, I rather like the edges used to map out the road (in London as a small child all the roads had what I later discovered were Sarsen stone edges - these stones were quarried from the downs close to where I live here in Marlborough, Wiltshire - and they look the part for an old sprawling city.) The leaves, dirt and trash models filled up a small alleyway nicely but when dmapping I got a leak, thinking about it I realised that where you could intermesh as it were, modules you couldnt do it with brushes and readjusting the model dirt heaps back within the brush boundaries cured the leak...so I am learning and having fun.
  17. Brilliant use of modules, it sure does take the hard work out of brush work in solid and air that the old dromed was plagued with...I think I need the next vid on, as the part that I'm trying to achieve is the undulating and uneven road surface with pot holes etc.
  18. I was busy scrawling notes during my stop-start method, still I hadn't finished it as dog exercising, beer drinking ad tea time interveined...still I'll finish the first one and do the second one and have a practice.
  19. Ok, having moved on and not had any of the dreaded "leak" problems..touch wood, cross all my fingers, toes and eyebrows and hug a black cat just in case, I have seen somewhere how to make a street look uneven along with rounding off building corners, I dont my street looking all boring and flat. TY.
  20. BSP..British Standard Pipe Thread...sorry, I couldn't resist it. I'll get my coat, I think I see my bus coming.
  21. Thank you Neon, I certainly will.
  22. I had started a set of maps for dromed in newdark but the limitations had started to catch up with me and I lost interest, but this is far superior and more engaging so I am going to put what I had into DarkMod and see how it turns out..after I master some of the basics.
  23. Ok, I have created this by clipping brushes, does it pass muster?. I wont be too many above ground tunnels.
