  2. Thanks guys, I'll check that out. Last night couldn't sleep much, old wound playing up because of the damp in the air so I had a fiddle..no matter how I tried using a simple patch failed every time so I used "end cap" instead, go a nice arched ceiling...textures a little squeazed because I resised the arch to fit my rectangle but I noticed a tut on end caps and textures which I will look into, looks just what I would like but I dont know how I would fit branches in..unlike dromed where you created two cylinders, crossed them and had a nice branch section. Moving on...

Had a good look at the church models and unfortunately they would not be help to me, what I need is a curved brick ceiling...I notice that Komag seemed to be using version 1.0, has it changed that much since it's conception and is that why his great tutorial isn't working for me or am I just screwing things up somewhere...go on, be brutal I can take it.
  4. Aaah, RMB/create model is not highlighted and clicking on it does nothing because I had the patch selected...I'll have a look now thank you.
  5. Am I getting this wrong, RMB/insert prefab/archetecture/....no interior only interior_set1 and interior_set2....is my copy of Dark Radiant 2.6.0 x64 damaged or set up wrong.

  8. I tied making a new brush and fitting it inside the brush that I want to use as a sewer, this time I got the length of the converted patch right but I still cannot drag the sides out only the ends????.
  9. Hi all, working my way through the tutorials and haven't done too dab so far but I am having terrible trouble with vaulted ceilings, I am trying to run through Komags tutoria and I have made... A recrangle (top view) 128X64 and made it 128 in height. Turned the brush into a room deselected everything and selected in the 3D view the ceiling and copied it (shift) Dragged the new brish into place half way down and resized its height to 64 Clicked patch, simple patch gave it a 5 on both selections just like the tut says, cliked ok Instead of having the patch the whole length of the 128 rectangle I have the patch 64 in the width and so i cannot drag it out along the length only the width. What am I doing wrong please...thank God I saved saved and saved and also opened up a new map when I am practicing new things. Thank you.

Yup, I used that but still had the error...what I have done is downloaded the MSVCR120.dll and dropped it into the folder, I then had the MSVCP120.dll missing error so I downloaded that too and dropped it into the folder and hey presto it works now. Now all I have to do is remember how to get the textures and models to work (years since I played with the similar editor for COD and Return to Castle Wolfenstein).
  11. Oh boy am I in Trouble...running Windows 7 64bit. I have the TDM running correctly and have been enjoying the brilliant fm's....so I thought I'd install the editor and take the plunge. I copied my TDM folder and renamed it so as not to muck up the original, I tested the copy and it worked fine on some fm's, I then downloaded the 64 bit Radient installer and installed it into the renamed folder...when I double click on the Radient editor I get "Dark Radient cant start MSVCR120.dll missing". I googled around and found a fix but I still get the error..VisualC++ thingy is uptodate and everything else is running quite happily, obviously I have done something wrong. Help please, Thank you.
  12. Hang on a mo...tried running it in compatibility mode for windows 98/me....IT WORKS, finally the training mission WORKS. A big thank you to you all for your valued help and a big one to you stumpy for pointing out what I should have tried first.

Checked the compatibility options in the darkmod's exe properties and the only ones showing are for.... windows 95 windows 98/me windows nt 4 (service pack 5) windows 2000 ..there is no option for xp service pack 3 as I guess the machine assumes that as it's the dominant part of the operating system already there's no need to change it. Apologies for my rant yesterday but microsoft's eagerness to dump it's previous customers really rankles me.
  14. Removed the training mission, ran updater again...still crash to desktop. Seriously thinking of giving up...as I had it running perfectly some months before, the only thing that I can think is that windows bloody updater has updated service pack 3 with some nonsense that is conflicting with something or another and as microsoft have announced that they will soon no longer support XP (thanks very much you greedy bstd's) it will have to wait until I can afford windows 7 by which time they will no doubt have invented "fluid operating system" that uses heavy water or some such crap and windows 7 will be obsolete. I'm a little miffed with the bread heads at microsoft as you might have noticed as this is not the first time that they have screwed up some bloody good games. Thanks guys, I appreciate your trying to help.
  15. Fauchard seems to be the only mission that works...I have to press the right mouse button (attack) to start and away it goes. Anything else loads, it says in white letters "game loaded please wait" hangs like that for a while and mallocs its way to desktop. Weird and very frustrating.
  16. Pure Genius Tels....changed the virtual memory size...no joy. Changed the settings here.. set the .cfg to read only and Fauchard works. The training mission that ships with the darkmod still crashes with our malloc friend, but I notice that there is another one in the downloads section so I will try that one. Nevertheless, Thank you for getting me this far.
  17. Hi Tels, my computer has 8GB DDR2 Ram fitted although Windows XP can only use 4GB, my processor is a pentium4 3.0GHZ Core 2 Quad. The GPU is 256Mb Just reset virtual memory to see how that does.
  18. No, that doesn't work either. I tried a mission by Melan..."fiasco on fauchard street"....it shows the title page/picture with the "By Melan", the loading bar at the bottom completes and then it hangs on "starting mission please wait" after about 2 minutes there are some squiggly lines come up and it crashes to desktop with the malloc failure. Oh woe is me.
  19. Sorry Tels, will do. I can see the video entry is doubled up, I guess the 128 one is the original...I'll remove it and see if it helps thanks. I have updated the radeon video drivers to 10.2...still no joy.
  20. Here is the cfg file settings, I had to make it "read only" in properties as it kept deleting two of the suggestions by nbohr1more...it was the com_video and the r_VertexBufferMegs ones.
  21. Hi, thanking you for trying to help. Doom3 console...how do I enable it, usually in other games like wolfenstein you enable it in the settings and call it up through the tilde key...am at a loss how to enable or call it up in Doom3. added..... r_vertexBufferMegs "8" com_video256 image_preload "0" ..no effect, still malloc failure. Have attatched my dxdiag settings...Doom3 runs perfectly and I have had TDM running on this set up before, it just seems that I cannot get it to work now. Thanks guys. DxDiag.txt

Tried to resurrect this mod on my nice new reformatted hdd, Installed Doom 3 as per instructions in C:/Games/Doom3 (Doom 3 game is a proper game in its box, Activision, ID etc etc.3 cds legit key code on back of manual etc, etc) Patched said game to the prerequisite patch which immediately told me that it could not identify the copy of doom3...major headache...got latest Doom3 patch from Activision and patched it. Made the darkmod folder within the Doom3 folder. Downloaded the updater and ran it from within the darkmod folder. Created a shortcut to the Darmod.exe so I can access it from my desktop. Ran Darkmod, tried to run the trainer mission and..... I have tried patching the Doom3 exe with the 4GB memory patch...no luck just this sodding malloc error on every downloaded mission. Any ideas please.
  23. Thanks for the info, I'll try setting the cfg this afternoon. The rate drop is this....at the starting point you take a couple of steps, then a momentary freeze, a couple more another momentary freeze etc etc etc. I did not go any further so I don't know if it continues past the starting area..it does continue doing this in the building directly across from where you start. Assassins Creed, Thief 3, Oblivion all work seamlessly, all are resource hoggers.
