  1. I tried to disable sync to vblank but it didn't change much. Since I use the an AMD Radeon GPU with the Gallium3D r600g driver I used the following command to switch off sync to vblank: vblank_mode=0 ./thedarkmod.x86 I also confirmed that this actually works on my system by running glxgears with and without the prefixed statement. Like I said I couldn't really tell the difference. Still very long load times on first load. When I hit the key with the ` and ~ in the upper left corner of my keyboard just below the escape key, I read the message that the VRAM will default to 64mb. By adding +set sys_videoRam 512 to ./thedarkmod.x86 I was able to use the full amount of VRAM. However, that didn't change much or the game experience or loading times.
  2. EAX ist not available on my platform so it was turned off anyways. Nevertheless, thank you for your reply. In the end I was just too impatient. It took a while but the game started after a couple of minutes. Looks like I need a faster computer. Thank you for the hint. I don't know how to close this thread but my issue is resolved so close away.
  3. Hi! I would just love to try TDM since I was a big fan of The Dark Project when it was released. However, I'm running into problems. I installed the game and it starts but seems to hang when I load a mission. I wait for a couple of minutes but nothing happens except that the status bar the visualizes the loading process disappears. The following is the output I get on the command line just before I kill the process.
  4. I'm on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy which doesn't have the ia32-libs package. Of course there are still all the i386-libs available, just no convenient way to install the standard ones that usually are needed. Therefore, I took a look at the ia32-lib-multiarch package in Ubuntu 13.04 and made a list of all the dependencies. Probably way more than necessary for TDM but better one more than one less. The following list includes all the libraries that the 13.04 ia32-libs package pulled in as dependencies except for LDAP-libs: Install them via sudo apt-get install PASTE_CONTENT_FROM_ABOVE
