  1. This for the most part, fixed my problems. I hope to release my map finally sometime soon..
  2. Yah I did and I don't know what the error message is because the game itself freezes whenever you walkaround the market but everything else is fine..
  3. When I play test my map, the game will freeze in the marketplace, what normally causes this? I can't seem to find the cause. Once I figure that out all I really need to do is finish my objectives, make a map, and then pack the map and let others test it. Also I figured out what causes my hud to disappear full screen mode, if I just keep dark radiant windowed I have no hud problems.

I'm going to close the window and replace it with a model, I really need too since my recent activities in a new room have caused more performance issues to take care of. that or I messed up on the visportals I made, Visportaling is really the only thing I have a hard time doing for some reason =( Thanks for the site the more reference the better!
  5. well the video should of gave a better example than the screenshots and thats somewhat of what I thought to do, Thanks again Baal you're a huge help! also I'm not sure there would be a point in putting visportals in the tavern(besides sound propagation) since from what your saying since the visportals could be seen from outside meaning they'd be rendered... which means; I would have to get rid of the tavern window I suppose, no big deal really.

  7. Yeah I used that test to find all the leaks, and thanks for the tip, i'm having a rough time with visportals though and r_showportals 1 doesn't seem to work for me..

Actually, I had them very early, but I had to delete them when I was finding leaks that visportals were covering up the tutorials refers to this as 'internal bleeding' ; basicly I went through and tried and tested every possible cause of low performance on the tutorial xD(or tried too) and thank you, i'm learning.
  9. Aha! success ! good news! I have a playable version! =) here's the fraps of dark radiant ; please mute your volume if you don't want to listen to techno. Please remember to take note that some and most items are due for change such as the large plant behind the builder guard( I originally wanted to use city watch but I didn't like their ai and they would say "I know you're in here" which really destroys the atmosphere =/ since we are outside. I'm not too sure if builder guards say it though don't remember either way it should be changed to "I know you're around here somewhere or something" anyway.... Also I know the tavern notice and sign look ridiculous but I like them xD I will do my best to make them as detailed as possible and yes the 'notice' is not a decal but a brush. I have no real excuse for that heh.. It is playable but fraps can't get good frames until I make visportals

  11. I found the cause of the problem with performance its what the tutorial refers to as "internal bleeding" I got rid of all my visportals and got a few leaks afterwards which means this must of been the cause. Damn leaks! On a unrelated noted, I feel that I am spamming abit? am I?

Regarding the picking up bodies I think its fairly easy too just go up to the body perhaps the foot? and press the use key then drag him away; I didn't have any problems with that though it is alittle hard to drag them but sometimes I try to drag in crouch creep. xD Otherwise no idea what you're talking about =P and the framerate thing I have like a 512 ram vid card and 512 ram 2.8 ghz pretty bad right? and I didn't have any lag or framerate problems on high the first time around but the second time I went through TosL I had a reoccuring lag spike but only due to having my web browser up (opera) which takes about 180ish of my crappy ram away =P

  14. Yes I was! and im thinking about just useing a video capture program of me mapping since I can't test it; though I could always ask someone else with a better computer anyone interested in beta testing ask me and i'll pm you my email. Thanks! your words mean alot!
  15. Thanks alot! I really have been trying hard I really like mapping too! and this editor is really easy to get into just like warcraft's! Currently i've been trying like crazy to find all Idmodel colisions found alot I didn't notice too but I still cant seem to find the cause of freezeing it may be my ram since the ram I bought was just shipped today since emart ships at 3 everyday and I shipped mine around 6ish yesterday..with kinda annoys me since I bought overnight Lol.

  19. I'll probably just create a cylinder and texture it with rope Also what do you mean 'copy and paste ropes from st. lucia'? EDIT>: ah wait, nevermind, I see what you mean, open up the st. lucia map and copy that rope? I am going to bed now though; so I won't put up any screens til tommorow. Im dead tired.
  20. Yeah your right. I've updated the map alot but I cant really get any good screenshots yet ingame because of a lack of ram, but today at like 6ish I ordered 2 1gb ram sticks a good deal too ; 40 dollars for both together, but I used overnight fedex delivery which increased it to 77 dollars total but I think it would be worth it if I could get some better screenshots ingame! I'll increase the brightness on my ambient light and take as many screenshots as I can until my computer freezes..I think it may not be the 512 ram causeing me to freeze in-game but also visportals not working for I am not very good at placing them =/
  21. is there a command/way(take it as thou wilt) to make rope static? so it just floats in air without any rope physics at all? so I can make it look as though the rope is tightly strung across alley ways? ect? sorta like what you seen in saint lucia? I tried func_static all that does is make the rope disappear.. on a damper note =o I wish people would comment and give me criticism already on the few screenshots i've posted, i'd be quite excited to finally have some feedback, i'll post more screenshots soon..and eventually i'll get around to compiling and uploading it once I finish a few things.
  22. something I really wish would be implented already in the ai code is ; when I throw something near a guard or somewhere near him he goes to where he thinks it might of been thrown from. an example of this is in saint lucia when your in the church where all the seating is where the guard patrols between the rows of seats. go on the secondish floor where the bass is and make sure to bring a candle with you..throw the candle at the or near the guard he says some gibberish then goes to the ladder as he goes to the ladder backtrack abit and jump down a level then you successfully snuck past him..the second guard is sorta easy just black jack him when he closes the door he won't even notice you until he finishes closeing it unless your too close..
