  2. I doubt it's going to be hard to replace the interface graphics later down the road if we make something prettier, but I think it's good that we finally have something so poor Napalm can get to work.

  4. The actual soundfiles are made in stereo, but when the game plays them, they might come at you from any of your seven speakers. (The game engine decides where the sound comes from, not the soundfile) The original Thief game(s) use mono files as a matter of fact.

  6. Yep, also considering this. They seem to have removed (at least tried to) all the usual problems with MMOs. Definitely interesting.

  8. Alright, I added a whole bunch of new stuff, there is currently 19 tracks. I also got rid of the pretty booring titles and instead named them the way the authors first did (as far as I could remember anyway). 4 of the tracks lack these "titles" though, so that should be fixed. I also didn't work much with the order of the tracks, so if you guys could try something with that it would be great. Just post the trackorder you'd like to see.   11. Currently re-reading A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole. In my opinion one of the funniest/insane books ever. I think it actually won the Pulitzer when it was published, after the authors suicide.
  12. CVS: Yes, you'll need it to be able to download the mod. Both the sounds and everything else (models/textures etc). You wont need to do any actual uploading though, I can handle that part. Also, you really don't want to download the mod on a 56k modem. I'll have a look at the sounds tomorrow or thursday, when I get access to my computer.

    Most sound cards supports some kind of EAX (My Terratec = EAX 2.0). Though this EAX HD is pretty new, so most non-Creative (you know what I mean.. ) cards doesn't support it. (I've seen a Hercules card with it recently, so I guess it's coming)

    You'll be able to play it without a card that supports EAX HD (or any EAX at all). I'm sitting on a Terratec card myself, and I'm responsible for the sound part of the mod so..
  15. So, drewb50. Finally sat down and listened to your stuff. You've got some cool things going on here for sure. ambient01 - Nothing to say really. Great quality and great mood. One thing: is it meant to loop? If not, you might wanna fade it down more at the end. ambient02 - Some cool sounds here. The beat might work ingame. mechanists - Great. Many great sfx in this one. You should upload them as sepparate files as well. (The machines, the steam blows etc) outside - Again, great. Gotta agree with sax tho, I think the crickets are a tad too loud. Might wanna drop the volume on those. undead - I have no idea if we can do the whole change-music-when-spotted thing. Ishtivan or Sparhawk has to answer that. Great track otherwise. (Where do you get all your amazing soundeffects from? ) the ambient remix - I like this remix better. The drums fit better into everything. This one brings me to another thing... What should we do with non-ingame music? Should we upload it to cvs as ambients, or should I just hang on to them until we need them for cinematics/menus whatever? Also drewb50, you should send a PM to Sparhawk and ask for a dotProject account. That's where we keep the sound design documents. (Also read the "Master Plan" sticky thread if you haven't already) We have an IRC channel too, details are in this thread: IRC info Um, anything else.. Hm.. oh yeah.. weve got this cvs thing NOW LETS MOVE ON
  16. Ey saxy! You're... alive! Unless you're some evil robot clone sent here to take your place. But then again, who cares as long as you keep making those things with sound in them. So, to get back on topic, now that you're here, what tracks of yours do you want on the ost?
  17. I dunno if this helps at all but mrD sent me a php script which generates shader files. I'm having trouble getting php to run from the console so I haven't been able to test it, but it should work seeing that he generated the existing (and terribly outdated) soundshaders currently on cvs.
  18. Also, does anyone know how it will work? Will it be like in dromed where you have to specify what each room should sound like? (Bathroom/cave etc)
  19. Will this new EAX work for people who doesn't have a EAX HD card? I mean will there still be some kind of EAX? (My card supports EAX 2.0 I think) That's a lot of EAX right there
  20. Actually, it will. The "themes" aren't meant to loop, but be more like the music in Thief 3, if you played that. Think the Widow's mansion where the "theme" played once every two minutes or something like that. I guess the church track could be a little longer but overall I think it works fine. Man I'm looking forward to the twins track, hehe. Yeah. Also notice how I called it Vol. 1. In 6 months or so we could release another one with new tracks etc. And yes, maybe create a "real" soundtrack with cutscene music, reworked tracks and stuff like that.
  21. Loopable sounds have a _loop at the end of their filenames. And feel free to try on some sfx! Cool. Yep, that's the way you should do it. Hmm, the actual sound portion of the mod is currently 50 megs. Would you be able to download a zip file that large? I think it will work, but yes, it should of course be tested. Not sure when the programmers will have objectives coded so we can actually test it ingame, but the sound is going up on cvs the next update. Cool. Try the sans drums version. Aight Feedback/praise should be in this forum. The journal thing is only for documentation/keeping track of the work.

(Haven't listened to your new track yet, will do) Heh, I'm kinda uncertain about this whole "contributor" thing, since you can't access all the design docs and stuff, but I think it's mostly to see if you're going to stick around and actually contribute with something. I'm gonna speak with the team and see if we can make you a full time member since you a) already contributed some and b ) seems like a nice chap.
