  1. Yeah sorry, mixed up the names. Still loans and earnings from previous projects I would think are their means of funding. Wages in Ukraine are also a lot lower than some other countries. Due to the modding scene Stalker is still a very popular series, so I would think they are still selling regular copies.
  2. Aren't they owners of GOG? Other than that I would think loans and earnings from earlier projects. I mean people also buy houses for which they pay a mortgage, so likely there will be something similar for the gaming industry.
  3. First Stalker 2 teaser. Lots of black screen and I'm seeing some refurbished locations, but still excited about this one. Just hoping it's not going to be so bug infested as the first Stalker. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NuPJmiQh-A

Came here to say the same, you just beat me to it ;). Great game, especially if you're trying to be a silent assassin. Also Ark and Samurai Showdown are free on the Epic store.
  6. Still waiting for a new Soul Reaver game, hell I would even be happy with a full remake of the series. Highly unlike that either will ever happen, but a man can dream...

Yeah, and it's the premium edition with all updates and content, GTA Online and a Starter Pack, so no need to buy any DLCs afterwards. Might have to redeem it outside peak hours though as all the servers collapsed. Never really thought of getting the game, but now it's free I'll give it a go.
  8. No Thief, but this is still cool. And yes, for the people that thought the earth was flat, you're right ;).

Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Faeria are the free games in the Epic Store this week. Faeria looks pretty interesting (I like these kind of card games) and reviews on Steam are very positive. I'm not a huge fan of the Assassin's Creed franchise, but the games are usually solid, even though they are very repetitive and give a false feeling that there's a lot to do. https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/assassins-creed-syndicate/home https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/faeria/home

I used to do that as well, but nowadays a large part of the reviews are fake (paid). Meta score isn't much better either when it's a social sensitive subject.

Like chakkman already said last week, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is one of the free games this week and the other one is Aztez. You obviously just get the basic version of KC and have to buy any DLCs you'd like. The Royal DLC bundle, which has all the DLCs, isn't that expensive though IMO. One of the biggest issues people have with KC is the save system, but as far as I know there's a mod that allows unlimited saving whenever the game normally would let you save. There are a few other issues, but all in all most people just love the game and from what I've seen I definitely agree with that. Aztez is a game set in the Aztec Empirte with beat-em-up combat and turn-based strategy. The combat system is lauded but the punishing rules (start over a whole campaign when you die and don't have more lives for example) are seen as cons. https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/kingdom-come-deliverance/home https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/aztez/home

Carcassonne and Ticket to Ride are the free games on the Epic Store this week. Personally I'm a big fan of board games (the real ones, not the virtual) and have played Carcassonne for years with my mate. I have also played this virtual version of Carcassonne though and it does a good job to recreate the feeling of the real board game. Once you get the hang of the game, the AI might be lacking in some departments, but I still enjoyed some good games. I have never played Ticket to Ride, but the reviews on Steam are very positive. https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/carcassonne/home https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/ticket-to-ride/home

Farming Simulator 19 is the free game on the Epic Store. Reviews are very positive on Steam and most people complain about the it being grindy and the small amount of differences between previous titles apart from graphics. https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/farming-simulator-19/home
  14. Anyone could draw that time line and as far as I can see doesn't have any links to official data, a typical scare tactics website. The little ice age is also wrongly drawn as temperature differences were bigger in that time. I prefer to stick to boring data from reputable websites. Also after 2017 (which is when this figure was posted) the estimations are based on climate models, which have been shown to be wrong in the following publication (https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1029/2018EA000401). If you don't want to read the whole paper, on page 3 there's a figure that shows the difference between the real temperature and what 102 climate model runs made of it. The earth is obviously getting warmer, I'm not denying that, but if we really want to fight the speed (we'll never be able to stop the warming, as we're not the only ones that are causing it), we should start with a worldwide limit on children and chosing nuclear energy. Figures have shown that one less child makes a huge difference in the amount of CO2 emissions, a lot more than the go-green efforts that are used now.
  15. Of course something has changed and it will again, it's the normal cycle of the planet. There have been times that there was no ice on the North Pole and there have been times that large parts of the world where covered in it. A human life time is so insignificant in the whole cycle of the planet. Just because it's warmer in some parts of the world and there's less snow, doesn't mean it will be totally different again in a few hunderd years or less and history has shown this. I'm with you though that we need renewable energy, a cleaner planet and such, because that will really benefit all of us.
  16. The problem is that a lot of people believe what is fed to them by the mainstream media, instead of doing their own research. If you watch the actual data (and I mean from NASA and other reputable websites, not the conspiracy ones on both sides) then you'll see we're largely being lied to. In The Netherlands for example they have been watching the sea level for more than 100 years and it has been rising steadily with 2 mm a year, it's not speeding up. Erosion is also something people forget about, because the sea always takes back the land. The models from the IPCC are just fed by what they think will happen (selffulfilling prophecy) and always based on the worst case scenario, because that is news that sells. They can't even predict they weather accurately for more than 5 days, so a prophecy what is about to happen in so many years will always be very far from the truth, which has also been shown. Greta is just a face of climate activism made by her parents and most of the things she's saying are actually just plain proven wrong. Why are the majority of the scientists then saying that we're heading towards a disaster if we don't change our ways? Simple, money. Climate change sells and politics is profiting from it equally. If they would really care about the evironment, they wouldn't fly individually in their private jets to climate conventions and would start thinking about nuclear energy. If you see the difference of CO2 emissions in France (which still has a lot of nuclear plants) and Germany (which has gone the wind, bio, solar, etc way) you'll be astonished. There are scientists though that are actually doing their jobs honestly, but with such a majority of 'scientists' in favour of the climate change message and mainstream media not willing to publish the peer reviewed results, it's nearly impossible to be heard. The few studies that are published are quickly buried by the majority and stamped as false. Imagine that you're in a room with 100 people and 90 have collaborated to spread a false message with some truths and 10 decide to tell the real truth, who will you listen to? The polar bears are actually thriving, which is another false message spread by the climate activism church. Search for Susan Crockford (a scientist who is specialised in polar bear research), who has a whole list of peer reviewed publications and you'll see it's another lie. At the end of 2019 a peer reviewed paper from her was published and quickly extinguished by the activists. She had a voluntary job at the University of Victoria, which gave her access to scientific literature, but after the publication she was fired without reason. That's how the climate activism machine works. In The Netherlands the national weather service actually lowered predominantly the highest temperatures from 1900-1950, just to make it look like we're getting more hot days than in early times. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for making the world a better place to live in, lowering polution and all that, but I'll never believe the climate activism message.
  17. I'm all about the pagan-way, them sneaksy manfools and their tricksies has nothing for mes. The new religion, climate activism, is also getting more disturbing by the day. They probably looked at the Catholic Church and thought, we are better at robbing money from the people.
  18. Yes it is. "Update 1.5 [Beta 3.0] is FULL REPACK and STAND-ALONE. Don't attempt installing it on older version or other stalker games, just unpack it on an empty folder and play."

The Bridge is the free game on the Epic Store this week. A logic puzzle game. Positive Steam review The Bridge is a puzzle platformer with magnificent hand drawn art. You play as a scientist who has to solve abstract mind-bending puzzles, which you access by opening doors in the main characters house. Between worlds, players are treated to vauge narrations about the characters life and his loved one. Also, you can rewind time. Negative Steam review I see quite a few people picking this up at the very low sale price. Just in case there's anyone else sitting on the fence about this, I thought I should add a note of caution. This is essentially a physics puzzler, which is ostensibly a genre I enjoy. In this case however, I think the the execution fails to live up to the ideas. For me, most of the challenge in the game came not through reasoning through the puzzles (though there were moments), but in wrestling with object momentum that frequently ended up being more frustrating than satisfying. At the sale price of $1 it's hard to argue that it's a waste of money. But I feel that personally for me it ended up being a waste of time. And that's something a low price does nothing to help. I see many good things written elsewhere about this game, so I may be in a minority in feeling this way, but I can't help but feel that there are far better puzzle games out there, despite the compelling visual style that I still find appeals to me even though it also triggers memories of annoying level design. https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/the-bridge/home I can't open the first link. Thanks for sharing the other one though.
  20. I've wanted to try Anomaly for a while now, but as it is Beta 3 I wanted to wait a little bit, because I don't have a very fast internet connection and I don't want to download a whole new version again when it is released. It looks like that this is going to stay in Beta 3 for a while though and they use patches as well, so I'm hoping they will do they same when a new version will come out. I'm not really fan though of just wandering around without a purpose, so will this keep me entertained enough?

Horace is the free game in the Epic Store this week, which seems like a very interesting platformer that I'll certainly try myself. Positive Steam review "If you've ever played Jet Set Willy, then this is sort of like that - in that it has a mansion inexplicably filled with conveyor belts, electrified barbed wire, and self-animated garden shears - but it's also so much more. A massive world to explore (outside the mansion), a fantastic story, mini-games, and a ton of other surprises, this was absolutely my game of the year for 2019. I don't usually enjoy platformers where I die over 1000 times (I know, the game keeps count!) but I played this one to the end of the story, and then some more for the additional quest, then some more for a few achievements, simply because I was having so much fun that I didn't want it to be over." Negative Steam review "The story is... fine. Honestly, it carried the game for me and kept me playing for as long as I did. Unfortunately, the gameplay gets a bit tedious and the game felt like it was dragging on by hour 5. If you can overlook mediocre gameplay for a decently crafted story, you might like this game." https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/horace/home
  22. Definitely, but I'm glad they do, otherwise we would never have the amazing mods and TCs we have nowadays. TDM being a perfect example as well, even though real life has the obvious priority for most of the 'staff' now.
  23. The other day I was super impressed with Reman's creation of a Thief-themed Minecraft mod. Today I stumbled on this Harry Potter mod which is equally impressive, though as far as I know still not available yet.

Sundered is the free game on the Epic store this week. Which is described as a hand-drawn metroidvania. https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/sundered-eldritch-edition/home Positive review on Steam If i could give this a neutral rating i would. The game is fun at times but for the most part its a very forgettable game. The story was boring and the game never tries to make it interesting. The combat is a lot of fun but can get really frustrating. You will most likely die many times but you will get better as you continue. The art work is amazing but the areas are very boring a lackluster. I feel there are many pros and cons to this game but all i can say that if you enjoy a difficult game, fun combat and metroidvania type game than this is a good choice. Negative review on Steam Gameplay loop consists of traveling through rooms filled with 20+ of the same 2 enemies in a 1 button game with no mid air evade. The skill tree is cool but the gameplay loop throws annoying amounts of enemies at you to give you the currency required to make skill tree progression. Boring and tedious, filling the room with 20+ enemies doesn't make something challenging.
