  1. Well, what is funny, I was OK towards HL2 but did not like it at, I dropped it after Ravenholm, my dad finished it. It just has nothing of its prequel...

For DooM 3 though, I didn't even want to play it for the play. I just wanted to look at the engine, but to the game itself, I was annoyed by the popularity of DooM 3, but when I finaly started... I got off only the third day after when I finished it. In fact, there wasn't even sound - I didn't install drivers yet. I wanted to wait, but I couldn't, I just wanted to play it and play it and shoot the next monster and grab the next weapon and new location. I remember seeing the loading screen, the head of a demon. "Oh," I thought sadly, "last level." Damn it wasn't! It was just the half of the game! And I had to get all my weapons new! And compare HL2 size to DooM 3... Well, with slow playing (I was playing DooM 3 really fast), I finished the chapters before Ravenhurt after 3 hours, and my dad, extremely dissapointed, finished it 2 days later... And how could they make such a small game so boring...

  2. I'm highly enjoying Morrowind at the moment, I'm like exploring. And the quests are interesting.

Well, I don't know what games you throught good turned out bad. AoE III looked bad with its 3D, and we already knew there are fewer nations, it is the Colonial Time, and GUI was shown somewhere, and low-detail units. These may be just bits, but I think if such bits are made bad, the whole game is bad - that is why I never play games with bad graphics - if people took care of their look, they'll take care of the game, I don't remember myself being wrong. Then - Quake IV - you knew perfectly well it is made by Raven, and on DooM 3 engine, and Quake is pretty much the same as DooM, meaning the probability of it being DooM 3 clone is pretty high. What else? Well, DooM 3 itself - too much time passed, they can't make the game identical to the former versions - DooM 2 was a clone of DooM already, so people harping on DooM 3 in that direction are just being stupid. As for me, IMHO DooM 3 was great, believe me or not, but it's my favorite game in the last years. Then, Serious Sam II? Personaly, it is exactly what it should have been. The same fun, stupid, funny arcade shooter in which the developers showed much more fantasy then in other games when one is a copy of the other. F. E. A. R.? With such piar, I was 100% sure that this game you play and forget. Yeah, it may be fun, but it's unreplayable, and there is nothing good in there except fights.

As for Oblivion and HoMaM. Well, from what I heard Oblivion improved the worst things of Morrowind. Fight system in Morrowind was often boring because it was all chance-to-hit. And also in Morrowind if you have gotten a lot of stuff and have not enough strength to heave it, in Morr you had to travel back to a trading post, in Oblivion you can press a few buttons and be where you need to be. Anyway, there are also horses - you can't fight but you can ride on them.

As for HoMaM V - if before I was somewhat suspicious, after I played the alpha I became fully confident. No questions here, I just go and buy the full game when it comes out.

  3. I'm waiting for OBlivion - it will pobably the best game so far, along with HOMM. They are improving the combat, AI, engine, map... The bad thing - they removed spears. Now I can't even make my Corvus guy... Probably go for an orc barbarian.

  4. Can you use sdk without any knowledge of C++ or whatever lang you are coding in? But can you still edit the editor - like make a weapon deal higher damage? And can you import 3d-models?

  5. I agree with oDDity 100% ghosts, UFO, paranormalities are complete crap. What's wrong with you? Ancient Indian civilizations thought planets were gods, Greeks believed in griffons and medusas and gods on the Olympus. Way, at a certain times people believed in unicorns, but some smart traders captured narhvals and sold their horns as unicorn horns. People buy them and say - oh! Unicorns really exist! To some point at the time of Columbus people were convinced that the Sun revolved around the Earth. Rubbish it is, ghosts and other, just nice tales - I wouldn't mind griffs flying around, but they are not there. Ghost is an explanation for something we can't get, as was a god an explanation for a planet. Soon we will know what it is, and people after us will joke thinking that we belived in ghosts!

  6. I'm Russian, heard of it, but for me it is just another half-done game about WWI-II, Russian companies are making them over and over, and can't even do anything proper. I suppose Russians are so angry at America they can't stop making WW games or posting topics "America sucks" in every forum. I wonder when they finaly get a grip on themselves. It's just that they are so bold with their WW wars that they can't stop showing of even in games, thank god at least the Nival ompany has some sense and does games like Allods, Demiurgs.... I traveled into off-topic, sorry, I just hate those hate toppics....

  7. Well, if you can write "I don't speak Russian" than you have some knowledge of RUssian, it's harder than english anyway... Maybe I can teach you  Паркан, Паркан...

Never played parkan, I don't trust russian games - tried blitzkrieg, night watch, allods, and I only liked first allods, and now I'm waiting HoMaM V because I was interested in the alpha...

  8. I loved the 6 book, better than 5 sure, but my favorite is stil 4. I like the way the plot turned, I wanted that to happen - it's not so typical then. Snape is a damn strange guy. I was 100% sure he is good but with some drawbacks, sometimes I even liked him. Speaking of Draco... Well, he dissapointed me, couldn't even kill the guy. Heh. But, shame Sirius did not return, I still want him back, that veil didn't have to mean direct death...

  9. Oh, heh, IF AoE 3 was a clone of AoE II I would have been damn happy, because all I wanted more in AoE 2 is addon, better AI, higher pop limit, more random map customization, a little re-balancing of races, removal of monks as convertors, a more powerful editor (aka War3), a new campaign or two... Details, that's all, AoE 2 is perfect otherwise - why improve it? But Ensemble Studios wanted to get money on a brand name without adding anything new.

AoE 3 is nothing at all compared to 2. There is already less units, races, and they are never as different as Starcraft races are. There is a bunch of these stupid sounds and poping up windows, the story is set in a stupid way - I just loved reading about Joan of Arc in AoE 2, it created a historic feel, and all these cinematics are boring and don't tell much, the voices are horrible, in the end I turned all off.

The ****ing 3D has made the game look only worse than AoE 2 or even 1. Units are horribly detailized and dissappear the moment they die. Ships cross over each other. Trees fall down after they are depleted. Also, units don't have to return their goods! So no more building of lumber camps! And I damn well expected peasants dragging carts after upgrades. Or dropping wood if they are assigned to a different resources. But no, when the hunt, they take out a rifle big as them and shoot around, in fact, they are much more powerful and can shoot down a whole army! And they look stupid, normal workers don't look like that - a maid chopping wood looks damn bizzare.

And fights - no formations, no behavior, no things added like exploring, no ability to force a mortar to shoot at the same point...

  10. It won't make the game easier. It will just tell you what to expect. It is a tool. I suppose the rat can travel around and you will know some of the surroundings so you can travel in a certain way. From what oDDity sometimes says, you can as wel never use moss, water arrows. Or noisemaker because they are indepletable.

  11. Atmosphere, as always, does not exist.

Body awareness - yeah, especially when your feet hover in the air. CoR has body awareness.

Gunfights - the visual effects are really low. Especially in slo-mo(stupid name).

Graphics are HL style, which I hate... DooM 3 was better. So was the design.

AI - scripted and idiotic. Staring at one point sometimes, carefuly traveling somewhere when you are right in front of them, showing their heads over boxes, jumping out of windows, as though they want to commit suicide. No thanks, better demons just jump on me, then travel in circles when I am clearly in view.

    7/10

  12. I need to know whether it is like Still Life or not. Such a hard question. Otherwise I'll just go to the isohunt or whatever. I don't buy games with horrible graphics until I hear what is good in the game.
