  1. I ran St. Albans Cathedral pretty well in 1.07, in 1.08 I get that malloc-failure. Another user reported this malloc-failure in WS1 - In the North/1.08. What has changed in 1.08? Here's a log. Edit: Just saw this http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/14252-malloc-failure-upon-starting-any-new-game/ I will try the suggestions. Anyway: What's the difference in 1.08? malloc.txt
  2. The awareness I don't like it either I understand. You can call it the cakewalk or whatever. Newbies will increase their skills. But first, they need to get into the game. Well, this has been said about 1000 times now.
  3. Exactly I don't know. Maybe modified guards which aren't that sensitive? I used to hit Kurshocks in T3 on a toe, they keep falling And yes, why not? You keep on discussing attracting-people-to-TDM. The most effective measure is to give new players an easy access to the gameplay in TDM. Blackjacking is a pretty big hurdle for them.
  4. I'm talking about the easiest settings. Experienced player may choose harder settings Nobody's expecting this Make the blackjacking thingy as hard as in Thief, that's suitable for beginners. Do you remember the first time playing Thief? Blackjacking was a thrilling moment.
  5. Sure? http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=132046
  6. <p> That's elitist thinking. I bet, you've been a taffer for years. They don't complain, since they're not interested any more, who knows?
  7. Wieso Neuhaven? Damits englischer klingt? Dann kann man die Übersetzung auch lassen.
  8. If you want to attract newbies, then blackjacking should be easier on the lowest settings. If beginners are frustrated, they'll stop playing the game.
  9. Uh, this is like comm chat. Bye.
  10. That's what I'm doing. So your advice is: if you want do visit DarkMod, think about it twice. Turn off the scripts, beware of the trackers. It's a kind of FB-thingy. Be careful.
  11. Why not? Nowadays, everyone got used to the spyware all over the internet (FB, G+, etc). You don't even care about it. But I do. I thought this place is about stealth.
  12. The DarkMod is on the top of the Google-rankings, anyway. With or without the tracker. That's for sure.
  13. Well done. You've found it. It's a (nasty) tracker.
  14. Looks like the admins over there don't care anymore http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138723&p=2123473&viewfull=1#post2123473 Sad.
  15. Nope. I'm not talking about buttons, but about the Google+ Tracker. You can't see it. It's there. As far as I can tell, It's the only tracker implemented here.
  16. Nope. Install "Ghostery" in FF and you'll see the Google+ Tracker that's been implemented in the DarkMod forums.
  17. Maybe "Anztal". It's mentioned here https://docs.google....doc&chrome=true Also menioned "Oberlohitsch", "Görtz" and "Zirknitzer See" (which is actually located in Slovenia nowadays) in context whith "Anztal" (that's described as swampy, often flooded). Probably these are old names.
  18. This. Here's a thief story about facebook http://www.brainsturbator.com/articles/facebook_the_cia_and_you/ http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2008/jan/14/facebook BTW: What's the "Like This"-button for? It is new?
  19. Of course I do! Na, it's author is JackInTheBox
  20. I don't know. I have the C++ 2008 Redistributable installed in win2k, but I need it for testing purposes. So I don't change it. I solved the problem by updating in XP and playing in win2k (bone-headed, I know ). TDM 1.06 is working just fine in win2k
  21. Sure it is. You're so helpful But somehow, you didn't get the point. I wanted to update DarkMod in win2k just to try it out. To make sure it works. But it doesn't. It's not a big deal to switch to XP. I just wanted to mention this in case somebody has got similar problems.
  22. Update to 1.05 was just fine. When I try to update to 1.06, I get this message. I even tried the old 1.03-fix. Same message. Looks like I have to upgrade to XP.
  23. Which specifics? I don't think so. Most gamers on ttlg.com prefer the old games (that's for sure). If they do think, TDM looks like a TDS-clone, you'll get the answer you want (or not). Don't be afraid. I never saw a poll like this, if I remember correctly.
  24. This is not what I intended I'd like to have asked in this poll: Do you think TDM (in it's current state) is more similar to -T1/T2 -TDS I suppose this will help to clarify the question of being "stuck in the past" or not.
