  1. It's stuff like this that makes me wish I was a better coder. I wouldn't mind putting in all these hours for free for this if I could actually understand the working codebase. I have the time just not enough of the know how, getting there though. I really believe in you guys and this project so I'm looking for something I can help with that will help out and make an impact , I got a lot of time but not as much skills. If anyone has any ideas for me, I can code well above a basic level but I'm not a professional. I can make sounds effects and write little tunes. unfortunately when it comes to artsy stuff like 3d modelling or animating I'm retarded but I would really like to make a difference in this project so let me know. What I wish I could do is make mission intros like the ones from thief 1 and 2 those were very inspiring to me as a young lad so if anyone knows how I can learn how to make stuff like that that would be amazing.
  2. Hey kakarotto I'm right there with you man I need to learn this engine really well if I want to ever make this coop mode and eventually a full blown mp. One big thing I have to make sure of is making the code super portable so if we ever decide to move on to a new engine.
  3. Last year I tried to start making it however my knowledge was not good enough to understand the engine enough. I will keep trying to the death though I just need to get organized and maybe have someone help me. There is a doom 3 coop mod that was made and I have been trying to find the source code for it which could make things way easier. Doomworld is back up now and I will ask around today after I finish work . This will be a thing someday whether I do it or somebody else does it ,don't worry. Eventually we can maybe even make it like thieveryut mod and get the old community from that game playing this. PS: if anyone wants to play thievery in the mean time I'm trying to revive it and relive some of the old magic. Hopefully that will add even more fuel to this community because more people will want dark mod coop!
  4. does anyone have in their arsenal, "template building scripts" which kinda build certain types of rooms for you and then you just tweak them? I'm trying to get into the map making stuff but I just have a really hard time. A script that would connect rooms to each other would also be really cool because I don't really know how to do that either. actually I could think of a crap ton more , how about a script that builds a guards path by just making a straight line through emptiness of a room, or how about one that places a key on a guard and brings up a message box of what you want to name it and what you want it to open. If noone has these yet I want to make some initiative with this on top of the coop mode I'm researching. I've never really used python but I'm sure it's not too hard to use. Maybe eventually we can have a script that builds an entire map

  6. <p>did you try the \r or \r\n combo and \n\r wombo combo? I haven't looked at any of the code that handles the front end stuff yet.It is done with a scripting language right? maybe it only accepts text up to a certain amount of characters as to avoid characters going off screen and possibly hell breaking lose. maybe you can just change how many it will accept without any problems. the objectives are read from a regular text file right? Then gets translated into characters that are drawn on screen?
  7. yea I'm going to mess around with lightning for a while, map making is really hard for me but good atmosphere and narrative are the things I want to strive for here.

  11. I was half joking , my map will be really dark when it is done as to add a little realism to it but it won't be as dark as the picture
  12. it's completely black and you have to find your way around the room and collect the loot
  13. yea it's like that part in the original doom where it's completely black but you gotta kill all the monsters even though you can't see anything, although in this you have to find all the loot.

  16. It would be fun if I didn't get snagged on every tiny problem that most people don't see to get caught on and there is no help for. how can I apply a texture to a whole room at once? Hey good news . I loaded up dark radiant and stuff just started working. I mean the rendered view now works, the textures actually apply to walls, but I still can't see anything when I load in. Really strange program this is. dromed was way easier than this.
  17. don't know how map making could ever be considered fun , 3 hours and I still can't even see anything when the map gets loaded
  18. How come sometimes when I right click create entity and create light are grayed out an other times not, it seems like it's random wheather I can use those or not.
  19. Yea I was using escape. I changed my color scheme to black and green so I can see the unselected brushes now. Now I just have to make it so I can see the rendered map in the top left view, I just see blackness. When I load into the map I can't see anything despite putting a light down , and then I die.
  20. when I create a box and then deselect it disappears can anyone help with that. bad area model lookup how do I make the ui look like this where I can see all three view angles and get the renderer to actually work?
  21. I mean I have a really tough time with software interfaces, especially with things like dark radiant. I've just always had the problem of having a bunch of ideas but can never figure out how to make the software do what I want. I first noticed it when I started using a program called reason 5 and then when I tried using photoshop I wanted to die. Is anyone like me in this respect and would anyone want to make a dark radiant for dummies guide?
  22. yea I see them step on it and I hear the foot on metal noise but they never go off for some reason.
  23. restarted and beat it was excellent and that . the sewer part kinda angered me cause there was 3 dudes near the elevator but after you get past that the gameplay feels smooth and has nice pace. sidebar: What's the proper way to use flashmines? I thought I could just drop them but that doesn't seem to activate them.
  24. I found a bit of a bug , I just went through the sheriff's office then into the records room then back to loot all his stuff cause I found out he's a scumbag. Anyway it keeps failing me cause it says I killed someone when I haven't killed anyone so I have to restart now.It happens when I and loading doesn't fix it.
