  1. oh wow I'm going to have to go back and play the north again, but I vaguely remember dropping the health potion back down. If you go past a certain point does the guard actually die? I really do like this method of story telling don't get me wrong it's just I'm too used to looting everything I find.
  2. really fun to play. What pissed me off is the scrolls that make you feel guilty for looting things, but you did make the loot goal optional so that was cool. , I had to restart because I had already taken it before reading. really well laid out map, lots of fun secrets,balanced amount of starting equipment and I enjoy the narrative a lot.Also have to mention there was a lot of objectives which I personally like.   3. I shot a noisemaker past him and then went behind him and knocked him out. I was on normal ai difficulty I don't think I could still do that now with my current ai settings.

  7. checked out the archive for doom3world.org http://web.archive.o...wforum.php?f=56 it doesn't have the one thread that might really speed this up , the open coop source thread. this is the only archive site I know of. For now I'm going to keep studying and analysing almost every aspect of the source to figure out how coop will work.
  8. f5 is what I call a ghost bind it is bound to quick load by default as well as f9 but it doesn't actually list it in the binds interface. go into your darkmod config and find f5. it ruined one of my missions once as well.

  10. yea I like to have my intitial playthroughs as clean as possible , really brings the immersion and feels cool. I don't consider jumping around the place and knocking over everything to find some extra loot
  11. I know that it handles getting types of objects ,the creation and destruction of them , handles the hierarchy of objects, and "Events" of objects. It does a whole lot more than this but I'll have to keep studying it.

  13. There are some very advanced oop concepts that I'm going to have to get more familiar with. I started with more procedural type programming and it is kind of halting me here a little. I remember coding a plugin for an audio daw called cubase and it was a simple plugin but it was challenging for me, made a lot worse by poor documentation and not saying what functions(that I didn't have access to the definitions) actually did. So give me some time I'm no carmack. Gabe Newell says talent is just how productive you can make yourself so I'm going with that philosophy cause I don't have that much of the other definition of talent. Ps: once I finally sat down and focused, this http://www.iddevnet.com/doom3/code.php helped give me an overview of how their systems work and I recommend reading it to anyone else like me who is new to this , even though the darkmod is a lot different it's still using a lot of the id objects and data structures. also, can anyone tell me where the code is for the main game loop? I thought it would be in you know the game folder but no.
  14. I think putting each map file into a hash function like sha or md5 and putting them in your db would be a good way to keep track of maps and different versions of them. It would also compliment my hopefully up and coming coop feature so that way we can accurately tell what maps are being used on the server.
  15. sorry, I meant to word my question like , "how do I append dds files I created into the existing pk4 archive?". I got it all sorted now.

Repost: I think when you go to "my content" it should show my exact post and have a little javascript that goes to the exact page in the topic(if multiple pages) and then the position on the screen where the post is. Another thing , ~~ possible BIG ISSUE, am I suppose to be able to register for wordpress and then be able to see the wp-admin path?
  17. I like to do ghosting mainly but sometimes I get immersed and feel the need to blackjack a couple guards just to make it feel like a more realisitic scenario.

  22. I meant to ask you grayman, there was a book in the guards quarters that hinted at a secret in the sherrifs room but I looked up and down that room for like 15 mins. is there actually a secret room where his diary is?
  23. another update on this, all the original id network stuff works really well with mods the real big problem now for me is just learning how to use what's there and sculpt it for our data like light gem states, loot, and objectives. sidenote: if I get stuck or fed up I'm going to start making a map on the side, specialized for coop in that you can choose to split up and carry out different objectives. It will be kind of like that thief 2 hotel fm that was totally bad ass only not in a hotel.
