  1. Nevertheless I recommend you include the real url in the href if you haven't already done so. I look forward to seeing your new site.
  2. The crazy thing here is I have had an issue with Opera not liking href="#" in the past, and even when I've copied working code from another site. Might be the docutype or something. Anyway, I have this in one of my pages and it works fine: <a href="examples/jseg4.html" onclick="window.open('examples/jseg3button.html','newwin','height=300, width=300')" target="newwin"> If javascript is on it opens a window 300x300 with the jseg3button.html in it. If it's off it opens a full sized new window (with the name "newwin") with jseg3button.html in it.
  3. Hmmm. I can't see why it shouldn't work. I'll look later. Edit: I keep editing as I realise that you've tried each thing I suggest lol.
  4. Try it with the actual href in it. Just make sure you target it out of the parent window. That might work and if someone has javascript turned off they'll still be able to see the image.
  5. Have you tried it with the actual url in? I never use image maps so I don't know if it's related to that but you could try taking href out altogether.
  6. There are several ways you can do this. You can specify in the link what size you want the window to be, yes. E.g. : window.open('examples/revenant.html','newwin','height=300, width=300') Easier than her method. But you could also set each image to be the same size (or have the same sized bounding box) and have a gallery that you can cycle through with buttons in the pop-up.
  7. Well the way she does it is with javascript. This is the important line: <a href="#" onClick="MM_openBrWindow('portfolio/paintings/paint_01.htm','RKlargeart','scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,width=7 00,height=550')"><img src="images/portfolio/paintings/thumbs/Ptg_thumb_01.jpg" width="74" height="74" border="0" /></a> The problem with this is if someone has javascript turned off it won't work. The solution is to add the actual url to the href="" If scripts are on it will pop-up normally, if not the user will still get to see the link but just not formatted they way you intended. And I just use window.open. She has used a function (MM_openBrWindow) to open the window. There is probably some fancy reason she has used a function to do it but I don't see it and my method works fine afaik. Is this for pixelwerks?
  8. No, but I know you're going to tell us what it is slowed down. Come on, spit it out.
  9. The in-house ambients I've heard so far are just... sublime. I don't think we need the Thief originals but there are some that are fantastic, and the nostalgia factor is a biggie for me. And hi u guys. \o
  10. Just in case; I think Wynne (of T2X fame - she did Zaya, and damn fine job she did too) might be worth contacting. That is if you liked her voice acting in that. I did, I thought it was very well done.
  11. Oh you people stop being idiots or I'm going to name names. Warren, full of it as he usually is, actually makes pefectly good sense in that article. Mindless killfest means a game that is just kill kill kill and anyone levelling such an accusation at any Thief or Deus Ex game is being a tard. He said that it was a shame that a great set of game mechanics like those in GTA should be used to create something that will only cause non-gamers to go WTF. And that is fair comment. And you have no idea what you are talking about obscurus. "Bhuddism is an atheistic religion, many would argue it is a philosphy, not a religion. So you have large populations in asia that haven't felt the need to invent a god." What on earth are you talking about? Buddhism doesn't have one god, no, it has MANY. From your post I doubt you know much about schizophrenia.
  12. I just meant small variations. Now that you have them finished you could, for example, have an alternate buckle or a dented or rusted shoulder plate. Small alterations, but if you do a few on one character they will be a little different. It's not strictly necessary of course. And in light of your sterling work here I would be surprised if your CV regarding modelling work wasn't bolstered something crazy. NightBlade inluded. You certainly do fantastic character modelling, and no one in or out of the game industry can deny it.
  13. They do indeed all look great. Who is who though? I forget. 2nd form the right is the Elite Guard isn't it? My fav is the one on the far right, his helmet is rather stylish. Are you going to have subtle variations, 2 or 3, of each type?
  14. I think you can trust PCGamerUK. Black and White 2 is a big game by a big game name (Molyneux) and it got 76%. If a game sucks, or is just weaker than it should be, they say it. They have made a few blunders in the past but they certainly do not give games more than their due because they are high profile.
  15. That's fine by me Macsen, as long as I enjoy them. I will read them one day. At the moment I'm reading A Scanner Darkly. I've read Androids, Palmer, Martian Time Slip and Ubik recently. Philip K, natch. I recommend them oDDity. As to old Sci-Fi: I have "We" by Zyamatin and it's great. As is Brave New World. Both old Sci-Fi. The thing with older stuff is they invented the concepts that are continually rehashed now, and they seem timeless and intereting because of the age. btw - do you guys like my new avatar? actually looks like me. Though I don't have a plasma rifle
  16. It is true that in the Thief world there is a nature (pagans) - technology (Hammerites) balance. It's also a "mystic/spiritual earth magic" - "organised guilt-laden religion" split. And of course in retrospect the story arc of all 3 games follows a very predictable "nature inbalance, technology imbalance, balancing force imbalance" progression (with the initial 2 imbalances being totally interchangable and dependant upon the developer's whims). To me the exciting thing about TDM is that although it contains much that is familiar there is also much that is different. Sure the pagans are different, that's cool, but they are still pagans. But apart from the differences there are going to be progressions - look at the Prelate and the Revenant; the final product(s) will be arguably far superior to any inspirations taken from Thief. That doesn't diminish Thief's accomplishments though. And in some cases (pagans in T3) the TDM versions are going to be FAR superior. They aren't even done yet but I know that there are people on the team (at the vey least oDDity and I) who will not let them be anywhere near as lame as the T3 ones. And the extras like the Inventors Guild are going to be the icing on the cake. Don't moan people, wait and see.
  17. liar u no u live in one so do i
  18. Oops, my post makes it look like I'm talking about 1 group. You are right, my 2 paragraphs there are each addressing a different group, foreigners and pagans, respecitively. Though we could have some foreign pagans too!
  19. I think it would be most dull to ape history like that. Why not have the foreigners as the rich and powerful visitors who treat the "Euro" types as slaves and mistreat the people from the City they employ to hawk thier foreign wares, and who have the money and power to spit on the Watch with no fear of reproach? If you want wolfmen and such oDDity (and I agree that the pagans in TDS were quite lame) why not add that dark, twisted, aspect to it? The chicks can still have the funky coloured tatoos though!
  20. You may be joking oDDity but some beast men would be cool imo. Not cheesy - nasty. Messed up. They may be at one with the beast in their own minds and customs but in truth they were humans who are now freakish hybrid nightmares. Superhuman abilities re: damage dealt, speed, senses. . . optional.
  21. Can we see a Shade oDDity? We promise not to tell or show anyone else.
  22. Leet Character Emporium is down atm. What's up? And yeah, what is the score with NightBlade atm? It's been aaaaaaages since anything new was announced. I've all but given up on it now. I know it's there but I'm not even looking forward to it because there has been no clue as to what is going on. I did actually think it had been cancelled at one point, but then someone posted something at BCG forums about MP testing.
  23. This is the issue though. TDM is NOT better than T3Ed because it is not complete yet. Since 90% of internet projects are vapourware there was and is no way for people to KNOW that it will be better. You have to have faith, like I have, but you cannot and should not blame people for scepticsm for the very reason you mentioned. Well everyone knew it actually existed because the devs, including Warren himself, said so. They just said the weren't going to release it. We wouldn't have campaigned if there was nothing to campaign for. And because GlasWolf and I ran Thiefpetition.com we were contacted or put in contact with lots of people who were in the know, including Ion Storm devs and Eidos people. There was a lot we couldn't say because we didn't want to get people's hopes up and it really wasn't definite until the very end. But we gave enough hints, as did GBM, that the editor was being tested and prepared for release. David giving us the T3Ed.exe icon was a huuuge giveaway. But I guess it depends on how closely you followed the campaign. And in actual fact GBM told us very little. Also remember that the TDM hype you guys put on at TTLG started before T3Ed was released.
  24. To be honest sparhawk the reason the mods and admins got annoyed with TDM was that there were a few posts where you guys (before I joined) came and told people how TDM was going to be better than T3Ed. And I think some of them were before T3Ed was even released. That annoyed me, as one of the 2 campaign runners/organisers/coders, too since anyone involved in organising the release could have seen those posts and thought "screw them then if they think they can do better". And then there are posts from TDM team members in threads that are asking about T3Ed, post-release, that are off topic and just promoting TDM. The TTLG admins and mods had T3Ed before anyone else and worked pretty hard to get ot know it and use it so that, like DromEd, it could be shown to be functional and usable by fans. At that time TDM was still years away from release and even though anyone can see that D3 is better engine for Thief FMs (and look who is saying that in this post after all!) TDM was still vapourware. T3Ed has never been vapourware and so to people trying to get it released the situation was always one where an editor existed and we wanted it, whilst at the same time a bunch of guys had decided to do their own thing that may never see the light of day and yet were ragging on the editor we wanted. For hardcore Thief fans, such as everyone on this team, can you not see how that might annoy people? It has nothing to do with professionalism and when TDM comes out you just know that GBM and crew will love it AND use it. As to the team name - The Dark Mod. That should be the team name too. We ARE The Dark Mod. Or The Dark Modifiers. Hmmm, that's too much like Dark Engineering Guild. . .
  25. I don't get this. Are you saying that it will be quicker to do in TDM? sparhawk, I actually think it would be a good thing for HI to switch to TDM. It would be a great thing in fact. But since TDM wont be out until at least the end of 2006 (according to New Horizon) will that delay the release of HI? If HI switches to TDM it would, imo, be silly to release some missions in T2 and some in TDM. For people eager to play more FMs it would be good of course, but it will look rather sloppy otherwise. I've just realised something. There is a lot of animosity between TDM and TTLG but when TD is released they will in all likelyhood have a TDM forum. What does everyone think of that? TTLG is THE Thief forum, of the English speaking world anyway, and it's likely that more people will go there to find out about TDM, ironically. Of course these forums could become like the BCG forums. That also makes me thing about something else. Thievery is by BCG, T2X is by The Dark Engineering Guild, who are we? Just the TDM "team"? Fingernails Bad Boys? The Anti-T3Ed Crew? TFAKOT3E (Team For Ass Kicking Of T3Ed)? Oh, I can do those all day But seriously?
