  1. I think I had problems with players being able to traverse the ducts with the brush versions, which is why I switched to patches. I'm also not certain I even have the brush versions anymore. Light shining through them definitely is an issue, and one I hadn't noticed before, whoops! I think double-sided patches would require new versions of the metal textures (I believe there's a keyword you can add to the material file that does this?). Using this would be much nicer than using very thin brushes, as everything could align exactly to grid. I'm not certain this would solve the light problem

  5. Hi all, So I have a bit of an unusual request for the community. I'm currently nearing the end of my Master's degree, and need to complete my thesis before I can graduate. Being that I'm in a games program, I had to construct a level for user testing; since I'm very familiar with Darkradiant and didn't want to wrassle with Unity, I ended up building my level using TDM. After some preliminary user tests, I'm ready to begin a short iteration phase where I improve the level before final testing, and I thought I'd open my terrible tiny level up to the mod community for feedback from folks who

You'll want to use patches to achieve a round effect: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Patches Most relevant to you would be Cylinders and Cones (for the inside and outside walls), and curves (for filling the gap between around the rim). The patch inspector (shift+s) is also your friend when forcing subdivisions to be the same, thus avoiding holes where things meet up.

  14. I'm actually having weird performance issues on my Windows 10 machine right now. Just upgraded to 2.07, and the Bakery Job is running at about 12 fps when I first load in. By contrast, I get about a solid 60 fps on my Windows 7 machine. This strikes me as especially odd, since my Windows 10 machine, despite being a laptop, is more powerful (16 gigs of RAM in both, with an Nvidia 1060 in the laptop vs a 970 in the desktop).     So a quick Google search later, and it looks like to wipe the mask is to quickly tap L1? It goes without saying the mask has to be on to do this, but in my experience it's never been automatic. It's also kind of limited in utility sometimes, but still a neat detail. And yeah, there's separate watch animations for 1 and 2-handed weapons; the 2-handed one is a lot more subtle so it can be hard to spot at first...

    On PC, if you press and hold tab, it brings up a weapons menu. From there, you can move the mouse to switch between knives, explosives, etc. Don't know what it would be on PS4 though, you'd have to check your configs. Same thing with your gas mask: on PC, you press and hold G to put on or take off your mask, and tap G while it's on to wipe (which is a manual action). As for knowing when it's on, you just kinda have to remember to take it off

    Also, fun fact: it's not just the compass that points the way to objectives. If you pay very close attention, you'll notice your lighter's flame/smoke also does too!

    I thought you do have a "light gem" of sorts? It's that little blue light on your watch that turns on when you're visible and turns off when you're not (diegetic UI ftw). I'll also say, there appear to be some credits for a few of the ambients if you download that old OST (e.g. mansion_outside is, I think, the same as "Outside the Mansion" on the album, which is credited to mrDischarged). I'm not sure how accurate this is, but probably worth noting.   24. So I guess if an official release was going to be a thing, the following questions would have to be asked: 1. Which tracks do we include, and in what order? Which do we exclude? (e.g. the original OST includes 4 seconds of frog noises; great for mapping, not so much for casual listening...) 2. Is there a way to find the proper credits for each track? 3. How do we handle different versions of the same ambience? Package them individually, or find a way to nicely merge them into one long track?   25. So I recently had a hankering for the TDM OST, and really wanted to get all those ambients loaded nicely into iTunes or on my phone for easy listening. That means getting them in .mp3 format rather than the .ogg files that come with the mod.
