  1. I think I had problems with players being able to traverse the ducts with the brush versions, which is why I switched to patches. I'm also not certain I even have the brush versions anymore. Light shining through them definitely is an issue, and one I hadn't noticed before, whoops! I think double-sided patches would require new versions of the metal textures (I believe there's a keyword you can add to the material file that does this?). Using this would be much nicer than using very thin brushes, as everything could align exactly to grid. I'm not certain this would solve the light problem
  2. I don't suppose someone with SVN access could send them my way? I was hoping to plop one or two in my thesis level and I don't think I can wait until the 2.08 release If not that's alright, just thought it'd be a neat addition!
  3. Is there perchance a way to download those wrapped corpses, or are they not available for mission use yet?
  4. Thanks so much to everyone who's volunteered, I appreciate it a lot! I'll go ahead and prepare a thread in the beta-testing forum
  5. Hi all, So I have a bit of an unusual request for the community. I'm currently nearing the end of my Master's degree, and need to complete my thesis before I can graduate. Being that I'm in a games program, I had to construct a level for user testing; since I'm very familiar with Darkradiant and didn't want to wrassle with Unity, I ended up building my level using TDM. After some preliminary user tests, I'm ready to begin a short iteration phase where I improve the level before final testing, and I thought I'd open my terrible tiny level up to the mod community for feedback from folks who

    Free games

I honestly keep forgetting Epic offers free games, so personally the reminder is a welcome one for me, but that's just my two cents.

    Free Games

Company of Heroes 2 is currently free on Steam if you add it to your account before November 17 @ 1:00pm: https://store.steampowered.com/app/231430/Company_of_Heroes_2/ You can also snag the Victory at Stalingrad DLC for free by signing up to their newsletter (there's a link in the COH2 WEEKEND GIVEAWAY! announcement).
  8. It might also be worth mentioning we're on MandaloreGaming's list of games to review (I was pleasantly surprised to find TDM there; totally wasn't expecting it): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_K3ziSxT9zcUUGCddS4sF1uNJTWHSbOwB1CQX2Rx4Uo/edit#gid=0 If that ever happens, we may see some more attention directed our way!
  9. Also the Microsoft Mothership completely borked my sound drivers. I was on the line with MSI customer support for over two hours trying to fix Windows 10's oopsie, and now I know the next time I get a Windows update they make break my machine again...
  10. Not to mention this has just happened: https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/24/tech/microsoft-windows-security-threat/index.html
  11. You'll want to use patches to achieve a round effect: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Patches Most relevant to you would be Cylinders and Cones (for the inside and outside walls), and curves (for filling the gap between around the rim). The patch inspector (shift+s) is also your friend when forcing subdivisions to be the same, thus avoiding holes where things meet up.
  12. So this just happened: https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/14/tech/windows-10-microsoft-security-update-trnd/index.html
  13. I think this is where you can find vocal scripts for all the different available voices: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Voices
  14. I'm actually having weird performance issues on my Windows 10 machine right now. Just upgraded to 2.07, and the Bakery Job is running at about 12 fps when I first load in. By contrast, I get about a solid 60 fps on my Windows 7 machine. This strikes me as especially odd, since my Windows 10 machine, despite being a laptop, is more powerful (16 gigs of RAM in both, with an Nvidia 1060 in the laptop vs a 970 in the desktop). Both setups are exactly the same, with exactly the same settings. Any ideas on what's causing this and how to fix it? [Edit] Just found the issue I think, and it seems to

https://kotaku.com/ubisoft-pledges-more-than-500-000-to-the-notre-dame-ca-1834110129 In response to the tragic fire in Notre Dame, not only is Ubisoft pledging money towards the reconstruction effort, they're also offering AC: Unity free for a week on Uplay
  16. There's a new Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines coming!
  17. I too seem to have been spared from this scam, and checking my email on that site yields no results (thankfully!). So I guess we're okay for now? Still, it'll be nice to see the forums moving to HTTPS, if that is indeed in the works.

    Metro games

So a quick Google search later, and it looks like to wipe the mask is to quickly tap L1? It goes without saying the mask has to be on to do this, but in my experience it's never been automatic. It's also kind of limited in utility sometimes, but still a neat detail. And yeah, there's separate watch animations for 1 and 2-handed weapons; the 2-handed one is a lot more subtle so it can be hard to spot at first...

    Metro games

On PC, if you press and hold tab, it brings up a weapons menu. From there, you can move the mouse to switch between knives, explosives, etc. Don't know what it would be on PS4 though, you'd have to check your configs. Same thing with your gas mask: on PC, you press and hold G to put on or take off your mask, and tap G while it's on to wipe (which is a manual action). As for knowing when it's on, you just kinda have to remember to take it off

Also, fun fact: it's not just the compass that points the way to objectives. If you pay very close attention, you'll notice your lighter's flame/smoke also does too!

    Metro games

It might not be in the original version of 2033 (haven't played it yet), but it's definitely in the Redux versions of both 2033 and Last Light (there's even a special key to bring up your watch to check filter time and visibility, you'll have to check what it is in your keybindings since I forget the default): Also, Fidcal, I'm PMing a link your way (:

    Metro games

I thought you do have a "light gem" of sorts? It's that little blue light on your watch that turns on when you're visible and turns off when you're not (diegetic UI ftw). Also, for anyone who loves the Metro games (and/or the STALKER games) and is interested in this sort of thing, I recently found this great video detailing the history of their development (beware spoilers!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3BmubIQklU The series as a whole is definitely one of my favorites (:
  23. That's phenomenal work, Petike! I had a listen to a bunch of the samples, they seem just about perfect. I'll also say, there appear to be some credits for a few of the ambients if you download that old OST (e.g. mansion_outside is, I think, the same as "Outside the Mansion" on the album, which is credited to mrDischarged). I'm not sure how accurate this is, but probably worth noting. I've also just downloaded Audacity and conducted a quick test on mixing ambient tracks: https://soundcloud.com/user-822809495/basement/s-G4nlS Didn't do a whole lot here, just looped it once and added a fa
  24. So I guess if an official release was going to be a thing, the following questions would have to be asked: 1. Which tracks do we include, and in what order? Which do we exclude? (e.g. the original OST includes 4 seconds of frog noises; great for mapping, not so much for casual listening...) 2. Is there a way to find the proper credits for each track? 3. How do we handle different versions of the same ambience? Package them individually, or find a way to nicely merge them into one long track? Also, a note for the wiki: the main menu theme isn't located in the tdm_sound_ambient folders,
  25. So I recently had a hankering for the TDM OST, and really wanted to get all those ambients loaded nicely into iTunes or on my phone for easy listening. That means getting them in .mp3 format rather than the .ogg files that come with the mod. After some digging, I found a very old version of the OST available for download on Mod DB: https://www.moddb.com/mods/the-dark-mod/addons/official-soundtrack-vol-1 However, it dates from way back, and is even missing the iconic main menu music. I subsequently found that VLC Media Player is a good way to easily convert the files myself, and I've starte
