  1. Just browsed through the list of things supposed to be coming with 2.14. Lovely, can't wait.
  2. Thankfully, nowadays, most FM authors use fonts which are legible. I know what you mean though... that one font...
  3. Talking about the flashbomb: Could it be tweaked so that it creates an alert state which still makes guards KO'able? In the original Thief games, the flashbomb was THE means of choice for me to deal with multiple enemies. E.g. in Lord Bafford's manor, when you just came up from the basement, there is a room full of servants which you an't enter unless you knock them out, and, a flashbombs blinds them all, and you can blackjack them all one by one. I understand that this is pretty powerful, BUT, flashbombs are very limited in the amount you are provided with in the missions anyway. I really thinkl flashbombs are practically useless right now, as all they do is kind of working like a noisemaker arrow. If you think of a real life comparison, flashbangs are used to clear out rooms by special police forces. They aren't just for distraction. Oh, and flashbombs also were WAY more effective against the undead in the original games as well.
  4. You mean they should be random hit and miss like the blackjack? Ew.
  5. Gas arrows are practically useless anyway, as they have a very narrow radius, and can mostly only be used to knock a single guard out anyway. Additionally, it's so rare in missions, even the ones with lots of elite guards (which also should be very, very rare, and, their armor should really only be worn by Captains of the guard, or something). That said, I think knockout arrows would be too powerful, retrievable or not. Not that I wouldn't like them, but...
  6. The game crashed on me as well, when I tried to load a 1.0 save in 1.2. No big issue in such a small mission. Just surprised me.
  7. Excellent missions...
  8. Probably because of the briefing video.
  9. Don't worry, you're not the only one who had to resort to a walkthrough for that. I think I'm getting old. Missing more and more of such stuff in games.
  10. Speaking of new assets, I love those statues. Somehow reminded me of the Nazgul from LOTR.
  11. Regarding the cathedral: If I recall correctly, you can only get in an upper room. Use a rope arrow, there are boards to walk on nearby (north of the actual cathedral).
  12. Same here. Also, there is some issue with the (holy) water well in the catacombs. Mantle onto it, and then jump, and you're on an invisible surface. Same when you drop from the middle level down onto it. The surface is then a bit higher though. There also is an issue with the speaker's desk in the chapel. See the screenshot: Looks like two elements from the front are leaking through. Apart from that, nice little mission. A bit too small for my liking, but, it's a speedbuild, so.
  13. Good call anyway. If anything, I'd try Unreal Engine. Comparatively, nobody uses CryEngine.
  14. I rather had the feeling that it's about ego and attention. Not in the world would I have thought that the OP or his alias above would really want to tackle such a MASSIVE task.
  15. Yes, there are mods to remove that limit, I'm aware of that. Not sure how well they work though.
  16. It's a matter of minutes to get used to it. Some games like Skyrim or Fallout 4 can't be played with anything above 60 FPS, or the physics will break. That said, I definitely think that higher framerates make the games look more realistic. There's something about the smoothness of the movements on higher framerates, that makes them look more natural. But, as you say, it becomes ridiculous at some point, and, that point is 200 Hz plus for me. Very little gain, a lot of system ressources required.
  17. Or Unity. But, again, pretty unrealistic to think that you can port TDM to another engine in no time.
  18. Everything above 200 Hz is total nuts for me anyway (and I doubt that most will see a difference). Big numbers = big deal for many people, it seems.
  19. They way I understood it, they continued the Thief (2014) lore. Which has no pagans or hammers. The Stephen Russell voice over parts seem so forced...
  20. Unfortunately, you need a super computer to do so. And, even with a super computer, you won't get more than 100 FPS in some modern games...

Not strange at all, in my opinion. The remake changed the characters quite a bit, the protagonist has a voice now (which I dislike in most games, especially when they babble that much, as it is in modern games...), they changed the frequency of enemies, and so on. From all that I've seen, I vastly prefer the original. If you know how, you can tweak it so that it's well playable on modern computers (gotta deactivate Vsync in game, limit the FPS to 60 in your graphics driver, and activate "Fast" Vsync, and change the "Window.Gamma" to 0.50000000 in "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Electronic Arts\Dead Space\settings.txt").

It's not as good as the original Dead Space, unfortunately. I stopped playing it, when there was a part where they literally spammed enemies on you, and you can't get anywhere. Unlike Dead Space, it's a lot of melee combat too. Maybe should give it another go some day.

Yeah, it's a repeat. I already got it for free from Epic some time ago.
