  1. I disagree. No mission should have forced ghost objectives. Still enough places to hide bodies, e.g. in the "barracks" of the mansion. It's alreay bad enough IMO that many missions have no kill + no knockout objectives on the highest difficulty. Major letdown for the people who want to at least get a bit of space to breath by at least knocking out the most annoying guards. I never understood in general why The Dark Mod has to be that difficult, TBH. The knockouts are already much more difficult than in the original Thief's (something i never quite understood either BTW), and no knockout objectives make things even more/much harder. The claustrophobic design of many maps also makes it unnecessarily hard. Anyway, maybe that's a discussion which would rather belong in a dedicated thread, even though the same thing has already been mentioned dozens of times. And, of course it is up to the mission creator whether he wants to add such objectives or not, or, in general, how he wants to design his mission. Just thought i'd mention it anyway, because, i think that some feedback in that regard is also useful.
  2. To each his own, but, i wouldn't get back to Windows 8 if Microsoft threw money at me. I find that Windows 10 is an improvement over 8 in every regard. Windows 8 was a horrible attempt to make a touchscreen OS work on desktop computers and laptops. Windows 10 is the real fusion. At least, it's a whole lot better on both touchscreen devices AND desktop devices. Regarding the "direction that MS wants to drag you", a lot of the feature implementations are actually based on the insider program, which gets a lot of feedback... from users. So, you'd be better off blaming the users for the stuff which gets implemented. Of course, i'm not 100% content with everything they choose to build in as well. I'd especially like control over the updates, and the big feature updates should be every 2 years, and every half a year, as far as i'm concerned. But, again, that's obviously what the people like, and MS just deliver...
  3. I agree. Actually, it was more fun to go all Rambo. Which makes it clear to me which audience should be attracted to the game. Oh well, i guess you can't blame them, because stealth games aren't exactly popular these days. What i really hate about it though is the exploit of a brand the newer games have nothing to do with anymore. It's obvious that they feel like (and probably do) they can make more money by sticking to the name, while producing totally different games.
  4. To dig this topic out again: After years, i tried Blacklist out again, after having finished Splinter Cell 1, and halfway Splinter Cell 3. Almost made me cry that the gameplay is so far away from the early parts. To me, it's not much more than a amended Splinter Cell Conviction. And the story, and anything else didn't make any sense either. Since when does a secret agent have to buy gear from his own money? And why do i get to choose which missions i want to do? And why does everyone act so plastic, and unrealistic? I don't know, it just shows everything which is also wrong with other games, or Hollywood movies these days. Actually, it plays like a movie, without the ability to write your own script. Games these days... I'd really recommend to play Splinter Cell 1-3 if you want the real experience. The other parts are just garbage.
  5. You mean Yeah, that would be great. I actually accidentally exited the mission before checking out some areas i still wanted to check out at first. Quickloaded again then, to continue.
  6. I just finished this (the second time i think, don't remember the first one though). Nice mission, with a few frustrations here and there. Gameplay: Good. I liked the amount of guards, and the linear guard paths. The architecture was again a bit tight, so i couldn't really avoid some guard encounters once again. The good thing was though that there were quite a few places the guards weren't moving to, so, there were hiding spots, not in the corridors though. I found it a bit strange that you start without any weapons at all, and i never found a blackjack, even though it was mentioned in the intro. Appearance: Excellent. Even though it's an older mission, and some of the more recent missions surely raised the bar. The interior, and especially the cellar/prison really look nice, and provide a great atmosphere. As i mentioned above, the layout was a bit tight, but, that's rather a gameplay thing, i guess. Story: Excellent. Not much to criticize here. Quite classic mission story. I found the readables a bit more on the generic side, they could have been done with a bit more "middle age" or Thief vibe. Only a small concern though, as, in general, they were quite OK. P.S.: Like lowenz, i liked the sky.
  7. Interestingly, i had the same issues with Revenants in exactly the same mission. Either they're very hard to kill by default, or there's something about the Flakebridge Monastery mission. I also remember i needed more than 5 holy water arrows to kill them. It's been years since i played that mission though.
  8. I just played this through, nice little mission. I really liked the atmosphere, and the visuals were just great, i think you (Bikerdude) really have a talent for the city/street design in particular. I also liked that the guard patrol routes were more or less linear, which (IMO) simply makes the missions more playable, especially with such tough no kill/no knockout objectives on all difficulties. What i didn't like so much was that there was hardly any room for errors, because the mansion had a very tight architecture, so, it was hard to find hiding spots sometimes. Also, i hard a really hard time finding the All in all, i really enjoyed the mission. It also completed correctly for me (i think i already played the updated version, it said version 1.1 here), and i was able to snatch almost all the loot (i think 6 gold were missing in the end or so). Got a really bad stealth score though, because of the thing i mentioned with the tight architecture.
  9. Do you mean Shadowplay or Geforce Experience? I don't think Shadowplay actually needs an internet connection to record videos. The reason for telemetry sent byGeforce Experience should be obvious. Many companies do the same with their software, to figure out which features of it are used the most.
  10. @ Bikerdude: Fair enough. I like it because it's part of something i have installed anyway, and that there's no need to install anything additional for the same purpose (and also because it's simple, because i don't like bloated software, if Shadowplay already gives me all i need from it). Always wanted to give OBS a try too though.
  11. Hard to say. Can't you record some game with Nvidia Shadowplay, or another screen recorder? I don't know about the source material in the video you posted, because it already could be compressed. Shadowplay lets you record in very high quality e.g., with few (if any) visible artifacts.
  12. Nice. Will buy it when it gets on sale then. Regarding Elex: It didn't really "flash" me like the other Piranha Bytes games. There's something about the settings which is weird for me, that mixture between middle age fantasy and sci-fi isn't my thing really. I prefer "classic" settings like the ones in Gothic and the Risen parts. Or pure sci-fi.
  13. There's also some recommendations for the codec settings from Google: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1722171?hl=de In Vegas Pro Edit, and Movie Studio, there's also some templates which are supposed to be optimized for Youtube upload. Maybe there's something similar in Premiere, IDK.
  14. Has anyone played this yet? http://store.steampowered.com/app/417290/Ghost_of_a_Tale/ Sneak/stealth game with quite a freaky setting. Looks interesting at least.
  15. You're doing it correctly. If you mean a Revenant by "skeleton guard", i'm not sure if they even can be killed with holy water arrows.
  16. Actually, i wouldn't swear on it, i could be wrong. I was under the impression that apps exit at some point anyway though, regardless of clearing the app history or not. And, i think they still showed up there then, even though they were closed. Check the first answer here: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/32697/what-is-the-offical-name-of-the-third-on-screen-button It says it opens a "list of apps you've worked with recently". I think (not know) that it shows the recently opened apps, regardless of whether they're still opened in the background or not. Not like a task manager, rather like the list of recently opened programs in Windows e.g.
  17. Not at all, but, the amount of time i spent on TDM lately is so small that i wouldn't have been of much help anyway. I mostly wait for the final version anyway, for any software.
  18. Actually, no, i don't think that's how it works. It's rather a history of the apps you opened. Whether or not they still run in the background is, to my knowledge, not controlled by that view. Of course, doesn't hurt to clear it anyway. I actually think it DOES close some apps, but, some apps won't actually be running in the background anymore. AFAIK.
  19. No, but this one looks quite brilliant: http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/sherlock-holmes-crimes-punishments Will definitely buy that if it is on sale on Steam. I played this one years ago, and it was pretty bad: http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/sherlock-holmes-the-silver-earring The newer ones look much better though.
  20. I already wrote it elsewhere: Especially the display and design of the forests, and, generally, the landscapes, is about the most realistic i've ever seen in a game. The graphics may not be uber top notch, but, the environment surely is.
  21. I will buy it as soon as i get a new computer. Or a Xbox. Haven't decided about that yet.
  22. So, to dig this up and conclude: I bought a BenQ Zowie RL2455T from Amazon in the end, which was on a sale for about 140 €. No lighting issues in the corners of the screen, only some subtle lighting on the borders of the whole screen, like on my older BenQ monitor (BenQ seems to do it differently, as i read, they light the screen consitently with LED's build into the frame), which is acceptable. The colours also seem alright, and it's even a bit more sharp, and has a better reaction time than my old screen. I had to fiddle with the picture a bit, to find a good setting, the colour profile seems to be the best, ad most natural (to me) on the Standard setting, and i turned down the brightness a bit, which is also beneficially to the lighting in dark games like TDM. Anyway, quite happy with this monitor now. For the price, i really think it's alright. Only has 60 Hz, but, that's alright for me, as my computer is a bit older, and i can't play newer games in outrageous fram rates anyway.
  23. The thing is, you can open up a crowdfunding project, because your cat needs surgery these days, and, you're more or less sure that you do 2.000 - 3.000 € with that, because people believe you (don't laugh, i saw that with my own eyes). OK, everyone is entitled to spend his/her money on whatever they feel like. I just say that you open the door for misbehavior that way, because, it's obvious that an easy way to collect money is attractive to certain elements you rather not want to give money to, or support in any other way, because they're just looking for their profit.
  24. TBH, i consider empty promises, and money burned on these promises as much more slimey than charging 50 or 60 € for a finished product. I know that the financing part is a rather difficult one these days, and, also that AAA titles mostly "play safe" in terms of gameplay, and how the game finally looks like, but, the way System Shock, and other crowdfunding projects went down, i just can say that it is an extremely insecure and unsure way to produce games. Of course, it's up to you and others, if you want to spend your money, i just can say that i would never do it. I don't like burned money, and i don't like empty promises either. Neither do i like fakes, and fraud.
